Re: OOC

Funnily... My character ended up a really good shot but still going to try and focus being a good detective/wheel woman. Ironically, the two things Arbitrator stat progression is terrible for. Better at shooting stuff, intelligent deduction, and tanking hits lol.

Have a rough background progression in my head now just need to get it all on paper along with a description up, then finalize gear. Focusing initially on ground vehicles and maybe later branching out into hover.

Re: OOC

I'm just here to make sure neither I nor you die. Also anyone have any recommendations on what regiment Morrison is from? For his background was thinking of going with the one I made up for the original version of this character. He was a company senior medicai and his company was tasked with taking a heavily fortified enemy position, and against the recommendations of his officers and other adjutants the company commander ordered an infantry assault of the position as he wanted to use the glory of taking the position with no support to increase his position in the Guard. After days of saving guardsman on the brink of death and stitching wounded back together just for them to be thrown back into the meat grinder as soon as they could walk and carry a las gun Morrison snapped. He walked up to the Company commander during another one of his doomed assaults where he watched from the fortified command bunker and shot him dead before convincing the main Vox Operator to call in artillery and air support which helped them take the position. Morrison was taken into custody and as he awaited the commissar's decision on what to do to him though he was sure would execute him on the spot he heard that he had been deemed the 'Hero of the Blood Drenched Bastion' and it was because of that, and the morale boost it gave the men the attending commissar decided to sentence him to life in service of the Emperor in the Penal Legion instead of killing him. In the Penal Legion his record became that of death as he is sighted with killing several other Legionaries, though he swears he only preformed mercy killings to end the pain of terminally wounded men.

Re: OOC

Xander: You can be something different. I'll adjust the adventure somewhat according to the characters.

Brena: Ditto. You can still choose a different career.

Morrison: This is a Calixis sector campaign. You have to come up with a really good backstory to come from another sector. Even then I'll likely not accept that. This being said the spinward front and some other warzones are still considered Calixis.

Re: OOC

Well the unit he was stationed with originally could have been from the other side of the galaxy originally and was on route to somewhere over there and a warp malfunction had the voidships appear in the Calixis Sector.  Administratum sacks some people, has the guard reprimand a few and then breaks up the division into small parts that were given to existing units there in Calixis.

As for me...

No I like the idea and want to run with it, though if we make it to Ascension someday I'll have to ask if I can continue to buy Fellowship bumps cause Magos doesn't allow them normally while his Factor of the Lathes aspect does.

But that's 13,000xp from now so no rush, lol.

Also working on making some of my background read smoothly for you to make what he took and is fits.

Isn't this the backstory everyone uses when they want to create a character from somewhere far away? With this much warp malfunctions I doubt the imperium works at all!
But I thought about it and yeah anyone could be from any part of the galaxy but that means they won't have any contacts etc.

Re: OOC

Well warp travel gone awry is a staple of 40k universe lore.  The stories cover the mishaps and conveniently overlook the millions or trillions of other warp travels that proceed normally.  And really the Administratum would say that it doesn't tolerate failures but even if they made an allowance of .1% of warp jumps going wrong that's still an unbelievable number of screwed up jumps.

I know that my story will be Calixis local.  Turanshush, then the Lathes for training and induction as a Factor, then off to the Guard unit that had Morrison's penal legionnaires attached to it and Brena's lent assistance.  I just need to make the story flow a little :)

Re: OOC

Mechanics done. Just need to commit ideas to paper. This week opened with a clothes and a mid day shift so haven't gotten a chance to get to it when coupled with a bit of craziness with a roommate moving out. I'm hoping to sit down and get a good writing groove tomorrow evening to get description and background done. Then I only need to do some gear purchases.

Re: OOC

Fancy new tech-priest upgrades. Check.
Not so standard issue issued shiny kit. Check.
Not so crazy story to tell how he got here. Check.

If we want to work out some bits of our backstory Morrison we can.  Though we don’t have to.  Inquisitor or his Interrogator or agent could have simply picked us out of the larger Guard unit we were in.

Re: OOC

Then I'll have to figure something else out as far as backstory goes. Might I ask what was wrong with my first one as my idea was to just have it be a generic battlefield and no where specific.

I did post what I did to get convicted and then you said something about me having to come up with a really good backstory to be from another sector. I'll work on it when I get home I'm in the middle of my work right now.

Re: OOC

We're still trying to have some affiliation with the same Imperial Guard Unit ala the first and only; correct? We may want to discuss and common links as we're otherwise perhaps a bit disparate. My own choice in taking the proven innocent background package may contribute to a bit of a brush in with Morrison perhaps in the penal regiments or the like before she was ultimately proven innocent and more importantly useful.

You don't have to come from the same regiment unless you want to. I have ideas for that.
