I do not know at this point if any player is going to want to focus on any sort of healing magic. For smaller groups I have thought about various ways of handling healing rather than needing a dedicated healer. In this game Potions of Healing or Wands of Cure Light Wounds are not going to be available, so I thought I would point out a few ideas about how we want to handle healing.
I do not want to try to implement a Starfinder like differentiation between hit points and stamina. Below are a few ideas that we can discuss. If players want to stick with healing per the rules and not use any of these options that is fine as well
- While I did not like AD&D 4th edition, to put it mildly, I did not mind their healing surges concept. For players unfamiliar with this, Fourth Edition gave players he certain number of healing surges per day based on class. A healing surge would cure one fourth of your total hit points rounded down.
- Another idea, particularly if a player wants to play a nature-based character, would be a system of herbs that could be gathered and could have some healing powers, could even be brewed into potion of healing type infusions or drafts that could be taken during a conflict. I have tried this in face-to-face games, but it can be a bit tedious. In a play by post setting however, it can be role-played without dragging down everyone else's time.
