The games is going to begin in December of 1980.

• Ronald Reagan has been elected President of the United States, and will be sworn in on January 20th 1981.
• Both the United States and Soviet Union have landed men on the the Moon, and established space stations in Earth orbit. The next hurdle in the 'space race' is the establishment of a permanent base on the moon.
• The Soviet–Afghan War, which began in 1979 is into its second year.
• The South African Border War, which began in 1966 is into its 14th year...
• The Iran–Iraq War began a few months ago in September of 1980.

Prices are as is the book for characters who are part of a 'Spy Agency.'

Civilians can get some cybernetics devices (non-combat, and non-spy stuff), but the cost is multiplied by 4.

While the book does have a list of firearms, other firearms that have been released up to 1981 can be selected. Prices will be based upon a similar weapon found in the book.

Also keep in mind that many of the peripherals found on today's firearms are not available in 1980.

• The first AGOG site was not released until 1987.
