Are we still doing the segregated schools thing? Or having a single school of monster hunters (some of which are 'good' monsters that hunter 'bad' monsters)?

There are still three schools in Moorhaven - Moorhaven High which is for normies, Rainsford for hunters, and Baneberry for non-humans.

So the setting premise is essentially the same as in the other game. Okay.

"By the way, communications equipment actually has to use this effect instead of jumping straight to a mile for one equipment point."

Just curious, does this mean a commonly purchased walkie-talkie costs 8EP?

Communication effects use the extended distance column, so one mile is four points.

Hey all.

I suppose I might need to rethink the usefulness of the cellphone I have, but good to know...

I do think that our fearless GM has a plan to consolidate some of the game information in a wiki, but I do think it might not hurt to have a separate thread to discuss what we want to have for the established lore.

I mean, if there is a bunch of griping, I'm prone to changing things to suit my players. >.>

But you should also keep in mind that a mobile phone connects to the nearest tower which will relay the signal through a network, greatly extending the range.

I thoroughly inserted my foot in my mouth.

It does make sense that we use the rural nature of the game to keep us from just calling the police or supernatural police when things get hot, I say casually to further asceed my being rude.

Eliza, 'hun, I wouldn't go anywhere near that far. =^.^=

We're still missing Scott but I suppose we can start discussing some things.

First of all, I'd like to thank Eliza for volunteering to help me out so many times. What I've decided would be the most helpful is to make use of the mostly forgotten wiki feature RPoL has and have Eliza help me with the creation of relevant pages and keep them up to date. Like a true wiki the pages, after creation, can be edited by any player in the game, so this should be a great resource for us all. I haven't set that all up yet and I might not get to it before I have to go attend to some other responsibilities of mine, but it will be Soon™.

I suppose the first thing to discuss is the elephant in the room - Just how is it that we have all of these non-humans and all of these hunters, but neither is supposed to be aware of the other?

And I'm rather inclined to go counter to Ryuai and say that they are aware. I don't want to decide something like this unilaterally, and I'm interested in any ideas y'all have to explain the situation that doesn't result in out and out war between the relevant schools, their students, and their families. Naturally, I have an idea of my own, and I think it's a good one. Simply put, perhaps the headmaster of Baneberry Academy is a being of sufficient personal power and the right temperament that if they say, "No adults are allowed to hunt any of my students, or every human in Moorhaven and the surrounding environs will die within the night," and mean it.

Yeah, I think just our opening scene shows how hard it would be to actually keep a total lid on that aspect of things. I like the idea of the two schools knowing about each other and generally being at peace, although the threat of mutual destruction seems a little... heavy? It works though :)

Now I'm wondering if, with that in the background for all this time and just a fact of life, the students have settled into a Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School style of intense rivalry between boarding schools...

That is an interesting idea.

I think that might work, potentially with a sort of "the monster world had established this school as means to train their youth in fitting in - the hunters came in and tried to cause a ruckus - the threat gets laid out - and the hunters form a school and 'keep an eye on things'"

I think it would make sense if the agreement is actually nominally a well kept secret, unless someone does something to threaten the peace, vis-a-vis some illusion spell when a monster or hunter at either school is near death at the hand of the other.

Its vague enough to make it interesting and drop plot ideas like a rogue outsider causing trouble and forcing the schools to work together to figure out who and how and why.

I wish the numbers where more equal we could have like a competition between the schools, friendly but it does get out of hand every now and then.
I agree the schools know about each other and have a mutual understanding and a rocky peace. I mean if the threat is big enough the hunters would allow training the monsters, think hunters want bigger and better hunts. If the monsters are trained think of the hunts they could ahve when these Monsters graduate.

I absolutely think that we should do something where the peace is off as soon as the monsters leave Moorhaven, or something along those lines.

Yes if there is a big problem the hunters might ask for help from the Monsters especially if some of the Hunters already know Monsters that are good, AKA: Kenzie and Felicia.

In reply to Tiffany Cabot:

I kind of get the impression that the threat against people is relatively long standing and the initial tension has kind of passed, though I wouldn’t be surprised if some on both sides are unsatisfied with it too.

In reply to Felicia Zamon (msg # 28):

Full disclosure, Eliza Draper is a human girl  possessed by a specific type of demon that will need to eat sane, conscious humans as Eliza gets older, as long as we stick to originally established backgrounds. It may need to change in tone or scope to still fit in, but the original tone did imply that the monsters were supposed to be, ah, worth hunting.
