Much the same as with Kenzie, Pandora is just tagging along. She hasn't even spoken with the little witch girl and only knows of her from the others. So she is content to let the others do the talking while she stands there quietly behind them.

Alban takes a long drag on his cigarette and eyes each of the students critically before he shrugs his shoulders and says, "So, none of you have any idea what you're getting into. Par for the course, I guess. Last I saw Miss Ebongrove, she was with Mrs. Hayward, probably headed to the nurse's office. You lot should worry about making sure you've eaten; there're tests to be taken after this in most classes."

"Thank you sir," Kenzie said, still polite. She looked to the others to see if the group was going to head to the nurse's office next. It couldn't hurt to follow the principal's instruction, too, so she also pulled a protein bar out of her overlarge pack. She'd barely touched her food at the cafeteria, after all. She didn't eat it right in front of him though.

Pandora stands behind Kenzie and the others, her hands on her front pockets, while listening to the conversation. A light gust of wind flutters her shoulder-length blonde hair around briefly and the scent of her lightly applied strawberry-scented perfume floats lazily around in the nearby air.

Re: Welcome to Rainsford Institute (Weds, August 21st 2019)

Jason sighed deeply through his nose, clenched jaw relaxing slightly at the confirmation that Lesleigh was probably alright.

Or at least in decent hands. Despite the unorthodox induction in the gym the Principal seemed competent if a bit Lasse-fare about everything else.

At Kenzie's glance he gives a small shake of the head. There was probably nothing more they could do for Lesleigh and it wouldn't do any good to crowd either her or the nurse.

Despite her frail appearance Jason was under no illusions that she was weak or needed coddling.

He frowns and shakes his head, trying to ignore the scent of Pandora's perfume tickling his nostrils.

"Understood Sir, If there's nothing else?" He prompts, awaiting a dismissal before he heads off towards his next class.

Re: Welcome to Rainsford Institute (Weds, August 21st 2019)

Kenzie stepped away with the others, or at least what was left of the others - they seemed to have lost Creighton and Talberon at some point. The took a breath in through her nose as they walked, still enjoying Pandora's perfume, then said "So, should we check in at the nurse or just go to class? If Lesleigh is with a staff member then it seems like she should be all right." She took a small bite of her food bar as she listened for the others' responses. She wasn't great at reading directions at a distance, so she made sure to stick close to the other two, who could probably see better where they were going. "Oh, would either of you like one?"

Re: Welcome to Rainsford Institute (Weds, August 21st 2019)

Pandora follows along with the group. She shrugs and replies, "Maybe go class place." She gently scratches the tip of her nose with her left-hand index finger.

At the offer of a bar, she puts up her left hand up in a brief 'stop' gesture and "No thank you." To show she appreciated the offer anyways, she gives Kenzie a friendly smile back.

Her hands hang loosely at her sides as she walks with the others in their little group.

As they walk along, she turns her head and looks up at Jason. She casually asks him, "Jason has girlfriend?"

Re: Welcome to Rainsford Institute (Weds, August 21st 2019)

Jason moves through the throng of students also bustling to their next class a thoughtful frown on his face as he chews the inside of his cheek.

This place wasn't like anything he was expecting. Nothing like what small amount of intelligence he and the other cadet's had managed to get before they arrived. His head span with it all, not helped that whenever he tried to focus his thoughts, Lesleigh's face had the habit of intruding...

Not all together unpleasantly.

It was strange, He'd never had a friend who hadn't gone one to one with him on a training mat before or sat next to him in a foxhole in a torrential downpour.

So lost in thought it takes a moment for him to process what Pandora had said,

"No. Wait-What?"

Kenzie nodded agreeably to the plan and headed toward the next class with the others. She returned Pandora's friendly smile, then resumbed nibbling on her bar as she walked. Her expression turned amused in a companionable sort of way when Jason seemed so caught off guard by Pandora's question, though the reflexive "no" seemed like a complete answer even so.

Sauce for the goose was probably sauce for the gander in this situation, so while Jason caught up with the question, Kenzie said "How about you Pandora, do you have a boyfriend?"

Momentarily breaking her usual stoic expression, a quiet little 'heh' escapes Pandora's lips and a smirk briefly appears on her face at Jason's dazed reply.

She looks at Kenzie as she continues to walk along with their small group and answers, "Is new here. Has no 'kiss' friends." She slips her fingers into her front pockets, leaving her thumbs to hang over them. She asks, "Kenzie has boyfriend?"

Re: Welcome to Rainsford Institute (Weds, August 21st 2019)

I kinda figured that Kenzie would have posted but she's saying that she's having issues in another game, so I figure it's time to move this thread along.

A crackly and quite possibly pre-historic loudspeaker system blares to life with an unfamiliar voice. "Attention freshmen! Please report to the table set up by the cafeteria doors to receive your classroom assignments," they say, repeating the message three times to make sure everybody hears it.

Sure enough, a folding table has been set up, and two student helpers assist a faculty member as they take each student's name and hand them a small printout, roughly half a sheet of paper, unevenly cut. The schedules have the same general pattern, with physical and hunting-oriented courses in the morning followed by academics in the afternoon. For the freshmen, at least, the students seem to take most of their academics in one out of a handful of classrooms on the very top floor.

As it turns out, Kenzie, Jason, and Pandora all share their afternoon classroom.

Additionally, Jill and one other military kid of Jason's choosing will be present, as well as any of our errant PCs who return or new ones that join. I'll leave this for a bit in case y'all wanna comment about the schedule or whatever before moving on to the classroom. Of course, if I have been unclear, please ask questions as well - I've recovered a bit from my episode but I'm not at 100% and it's way past my bedtime as I write this, so. ^.^;

Re: Welcome to Rainsford Institute (Weds, August 21st 2019)

Kenzie giggled softly at Pandora's choice of words. The sound was approving rather than mocking. "Kiss friends, that's a good term for it. No, I don't have any of those either." She glanced up as the loudspeaker suddenly came to life. "Ah, there we go. Back to the cafeteria, huh? Maybe we'll run into Lesleigh there."

She made her way there along with Pandora and Jason. She had to be careful not to run into anyone, since the whole school was headed for a single table. She thanked the person that handed her her printout, held it close to her face, then compared it with the others. "Hey, looks like we're taking classes together! That's good," she said with a smile.

Pandora nods at Kenzie's reply before pausing and glancing back towards the source of the announcement. She listens to the message, nods again at Kenzie, and starts heading that way alongside the others.

She looks her paper over, sorting it out and comparing it with the others, as she does, to better understand it. She replies, "Yes," in agreement with Kenzie.

With the next thing settled, she starts working her way along with the others towards their destination.

Re: Welcome to Rainsford Institute (Weds, August 21st 2019)

Jason carfully folded his class assignment and timetable into his jacket pocket after studyng it for a good few moments, determined to make it to his classes with military punctuality.

The classes seemed to be relatively balanced which Jason was both relived and a little worried by. On one hand he had no worries about the physical aspect, he enjoyed exercise and he enjoyed pushing his limits.

The mental aspect on the other...

Jason shook his head, he'd bull on through with brute force if he had to but he'd make himself learn.

He was surprised and heartened to see Kenzie and Pandora in his class although he couldn't help rescanning the list, looking for Lesleigh.

He also frowned, Jill and Myers were in his class as well. Before today he would have welcomed that with as much enthusiasm as he had learning that Kenzie and Pandora were in his class.

Now though...

The introductions between the Cadets and the rest of the school had not been stellar. In fact if Lesleigh hadn't made her "announcement" they would have had top billing for the schools ire.

Jason didn't say anything for a lone while, until they were almost at their destination before suddenly breaking his silence,

"What..." He started hestiantly, "What did you think of the other cadets?"

Re: Welcome to Rainsford Institute (Weds, August 21st 2019)

Kenzie began walking as well when Pandora took the lead. After Jason asked his question, Kenzie took a glance around to make sure none of them were standing nearby. Normally looking around probably wouldn't do her much good, but the uniforms the cadets wore were pretty distinctive blobs.

"Um... Off the record?" she said slowly. It seemed like Jason wouldn't ask if he just intended to relay their opinions back, that would be strangely catty of him. "They seem like a mixed bunch. Ross seemed nice when I sparred with her. Myers was... weird. Those are the two I interacted with personally."

As they walk along, and Jason speaks up, Pandora shifts her eyes to look towards him.

Once he finishes his question, she looks ahead again and answers, "Feel small brown hair girl 'Fisher' some funny. Big brown eye boy 'Carson' seem nice. Not understand hand shake thing. No do deal. Other Jason friends seem stiff like boards."

Coming from a pseudo military background herself, she didn't have any particular negative feelings towards the military students as a whole. Although their rigid discipline has it's place, so does adaptability. Used to being alone, she leans much more towards the latter.

Jason makes grunts, more an exhale through the nose and his jaw tightens,
"I am...Worried about them..." He says haltingly, broad shoulders hunched as he feels the unfamiliar desire to stick his hands in his pockets, suddenly aware of his size in the cramped, bustling corridors.

"This place is...not what we were expecting..." He turns to the others,

"Did you know much about Rainsford before arriving?"

Pandora shrugs and replies, "Only think learn fight vampires here. No know other things."

She stretches her arms up over her head as she walks. As she does, she looks over towards at Kenzie, glancing down at her rolling trunk briefly, and then back at the bespectacled girl.

As she lowers her hands back down to her sides, she says, "Pandora curious what Kenzie things do." She looks forward and adds, "Pandora use sharp stick and cross. Want learn more things."

"What were you expecting, more of a formal military academy?" Kenzie asked Jason. "My cousin worked here before I came, so she told me about it some, but I still wasn't expecting how... I'm not sure how to describe it." Certainly not murderous gangs of students roaming around.

Kenzie looked over at Pandora when she spoke to her again, then glanced back at her huge pack as well before smiling. "I'll let it be a surprise. If I just say it, you might think I'm kidding. So, a sharp stick and a cross really work against vampires, huh? You don't need any silver weapons or fire or anything like that?"

Pandora replies to Kenzie, "Hmmm. Pandora want learn more vampire fight-things. Tex know much vampire-fight things. Fire work...probably. Silver metal is 'woof-woofs', yes?"

She remembers seeing having seen a werewolf movie once back in Ukraine, but she hadn't really thought much about them before now. Of course, she hadn't really thought about witches or other supernatural beings other than vampires either. Apparently there are many other supernatural threats to humanity besides vampires.

"I am...not sure what I expected..." He said after a moments pause, choosing his words methodically as the thoughts came to him,
"I knew it would not be like home..." He says, thinking of the early mornings and regimented structure of the Military Site he had grown up on,

"But this seems...disorganised...Like a...free for all?"

He wondered what the other school was like.

Somthing Kenzie said caught his ear,
"Your cousin worked here? What did she do?"

Re: Welcome to Rainsford Institute (Weds, August 21st 2019)

"Woof-woofs, yes. I think they're usually called werewolves over here," Kenzie said to Pandora with a nod. "I was thinking silver worked on a lot of different kinds of monsters, I guess? But I'm no expert, I've never looked into how to fight a vampire." She nearly asked if Pandora had ever met one before she realized that, based on what she knew, the question likely wouldn't have a very happy answer. Instead, after a moment's pause she smiled a little and said "If I ever get a vampire chasing me, I hope you don't mind if I run to you."

She nodded to Jason after that. "Yeah, I know what you mean. This place seems pretty divided. And..." She thought about how to phrase what she was thinking of. "I wouldn't like it if it was too formal, like a real military school, but it seems... pretty far in the opposite direction."

"Yep, my cousin Breanna was more or less a nurse's aide at the school infirmary," she continued. The "more or less" part was because she had all the qualifications and duties of a proper nurse's aide, but not the certification. "I have a lot of doctors in my family, and since we're, you know, in on all this," she gestured around herself at the school, "we learn how to treat injuries and diseases that regular doctors wouldn't recognize. She's leaving to go to med school this year."

Re: Welcome to Rainsford Institute (Weds, August 21st 2019)

Jason nodded a thoughtful look on his face, he had always been told that they stood alone against the monsters in the dark. Him and his small cadre of elite soldiers, trained and hardened for one thing alone.

Yet now it seemed like there was a whole other sub layer of the secret world. The lone hunters and outliers that had so often been dismissed by the US government seemed much more...efficient than they were given credit for.

There was a whole other substrata of the hidden world, not just hunters but teachers and nurses as well, a functioning infrastructure and logistical system.

"Will it be a...normal med school or one more like...this" He gestured around him, one large paw moving gently through the air.

Pandora eyes Kenzie's trunk again and mumbles, "Hmmm." She looks back up after a moment.

"Is Werewolf, okay," Pandora replies, "Pandora help Kenzie, yes."

She says, "Pandora cross silver metal." She reaches up to the neckline of her t-shirt and pulls out a gold-plated, four-pointed Slavic orthodox cross. It is attached to a silver chain around her neck and has an inner silver crucifix decorated with a detailed scene of the Crucifixion on the front. She rolls it over, showing its back.

On the reverse side is a Slavonic inscription 'Зберегти та захистити'. About the inscription, she says, "No know English words." She looks a little sad as she adds, "Grandmother gave me."

After a few moments, she tucks the cross back underneath her t-shirt.

Re: Welcome to Rainsford Institute (Weds, August 21st 2019)

"The School of Medicine, Trinity College, Dublin," Kenzie answered Jason promptly. "A lot of my family has gone there. So, it's a normal school compared to this. The usual family policy is to get a full medical education and then decide what to do with it. Some of the Rinnes are full-time medical support for hunters, but a lot of them go into medical research, or just regular medicine. Not that every Rinne is in a medical field, but it is a family tradition." Kenzie was clearly proud of her family's name and traditions, despite not going the route of upholding them herself.

"Thank you," she said with a smile to Pandora after that. Then she looked over Pandora's crucifix when she pulled it out, and her smile faded when Pandora talked about her grandmother with sadness in her voice. "It's very nice," she said seriously.
