The
Empress Katerina-Class Far Trader is a shipyard derivative of the ubiquitous
Empress Marava-Class Far Trader. The two vessels cannot be inter-converted after construction as the structural bulkheads are arranged differently. The Katerina underwent a major refit into an advanced search-and-rescue vehicle.
The principal difference between the classes is that the Sigurd Class Far Trader has a Jump-2 Drive fitted, enabling it to travel beyond the J-1 Mains.
