RTJ and Character Creation

Before you RTJ, please read the Welcome to NowhereMash thread.

For your RTJ, provide:

  • A basic description of your character concept. The concept doesn't have to be over-the-top to be welcome. A SHIELD agent, commando, or assassin is just as likely to make the cut as a demon prince or super saiyan.
  • What you want from this game, specific or general. Want to explore the world? Tell me. Want to go into space and fight Nazis on Mars? Tell me.
  • Your desired posting rate. I can tell you that it won't be super fast, but I'll try to tailor my speed to the group.
  • Any immediate questions you have about the setting. NowhereMash is big, and I can't promise I'll remember to tell you every possibly-relevant detail, so asking is best.

Finally, it is imperative that you communicate regularly during character creation. Mashup can do anything you want it to do, but that doesn't mean the way to do it will be obvious. Mashup character creation is an interactive endeavor.

This ruleset was designed to be able to do whatever we want it to do, not to be a finely tuned, balanced game system. It can be broken very easily, so it is your responsibility as a player to avoid doing so, and mine as a GM to make sure you don't do it accidentally. I will be providing a "how to break this game" tutorial in the wiki to give some examples of what not to do.

Character Creation Guidelines

Character Creation Guidelines

Characters for NowhereMash are created using the following guidelines:

  • 5th Level
  • Any Pathfinder race1
  • 60 Character Points
  • Unlimited BP from Defects2
  • $200,000 in base starting wealth3

1: Any race available in the Pathfinder RPG is available for play in NowhereMash, but a vast majority of the setting's population are humans. The party makeup will be at least 50% human.

2: Each character must have at least one Defect, but there is no upper limit. Make sure all defects are reasonable and make sense for the character to possess.

3: Mundane equipment will be purchased primarily from the equipment lists on the NowhereMash wiki. Other legal sources for equipment include the d20 Modern RPG and its supplements and the Pathfinder RPG and its supplements. When an item is represented in both sources, default to Pathfinder's prices. The conversion rate between dollars and gold pieces is $20/1gp.

As Mashup is a homebrew system, there is no ready-made character sheet available on RPoL. A link to a Word document sheet is available on the wiki.
