Re: OOC Thread
I'm still confused. Let's end this here: what does the map show currently? Round 2, turn of CB?

(Explanation: I did a move and shoot, [possibly surprise round], then round 1 CB ran away and cast Mage Armour, then I tried to hit him [if I understand well, this was retconned to: I tried to hit him, he ran away without disengage and cast Mage Armour], then the Cleric hit me [again, retcon. He hit me after I hit and CB ran away]. So we should be in the second round, and it's CB's turn at first and foremost, and I should be able to cast Lay on Hands at the start of round 2?)

Again, just to be sure: what round and turn does the battle map show, and who has used their turn already?

Players may blunder through dialog with shocking ineptitude, forget the name of the country they are in, or get confused about which side they are on, but once it comes time to roll for initiative they all turn into Sun Tzu.

In reply to Ray Lyrefingers (msg # 401):

you already rolled initiative. Just post when you're ready. I'm going to take care of the enemy turns that are at the front of the initiative order now, so post whenever you're ready, and I'll work it into the narrative when everyone's posted.

Re: OOC Thread
In reply to Mark (msg # 402):

the guy you shot at didn't count because we had several people leave right after, and the guy you shot didn't notice (because you did -1 damage, and he ran off to chase the party members who left. I was trying to give everyone a chance to reevaluate since several people left, and several enemies also left) I posted an explanation of that, but I guess I wasn't clear enough.
so, then you still had the element of surprise, which you used to attack the cultist boss. Once you did that, we entered the regular initiative order. The cultist boss is first in the initiative order, which is why he reacted first. You're last in the initiative order which is why everyone acted before you did in turn 1. So, now that you've acted, we've started turn 2.
The map shows the beginning of turn 2. It's completely current with everything that's happened.

Re: OOC Thread
I see. I did not know I made 2 attacks in the surprise round.

(I still don't get how did CB cast Mage Armour, but whatever.

And it's round 2 of combat, and the characters are taking turns in action.)

Re: OOC Thread
I am still curious why you have a dex based ranged weapon instead of a strength one?

If I remember right, he salvaged it off one of the archers from the first or second fight.

Fair enough, but I think he would be more effective salvaging rocks off the ground to throw as improvised weapons.

In reply to Westen (msg # 407):

No, I actually wanted a Long Bow, just ran out of money at character creation. Mark always had a short bow (check the description).

The usage of bows was to have a ranged attack - most thrown weapons are to like 20 feet and don't have much damage, I might as well as attack melee from that distance. It's also for cases, if I can't get close enough - like the enemy is on the other side of a chasm, or just simply on a different level, like on a wall. It might not damage much, but could be useful, since the only ranged attack I can have is from the cards.

I'll have you know, that I've found that handaxes have been a handy weapon for me, so far. I've only missed a few times. ;p

Meh, with the rolls I have I would probably miss a black hole too.

I'm locked in btw., unless someone still has one more AOE fire spell, I'm pretty much screwed.

Re: OOC Thread
Puns aside the Hand Axe is a very good weapon for its level of portability, also Javelins have a lot more range than most maps ever tend to need, giving you the ability to fight when confined by the situation without needing to over extend yourself.  And you can have dozens of them for the cost of either hand axes or a longbow.

AOE fire spells are infinite, but those aren't particularly powerful so you may need to wait a bit for it to have the desired effect.

Actually, now that I look at it, I think Trai still needs to act this turn, but I'll process the rest of the turn now.

Continued my tally, it's at 6,5 in 18 tries. I added half for the successful attack for the -1 damage. I'm at a perfect 33% success rate.

Re: OOC Thread
Just checking to make sure you factored advantage into your attack roll. I'm guessing you did since it had a +5 mod on the attack, but worth making sure. The cleric got marked by faerie fire, so any attack roll against him has advantage.

Hi everyone, I'll process what I can of the turn sometime today, but fair warning that I'll be out of commission the next few days due to a surgery I'm getting tomorrow

Re: OOC Thread
Hi guys, sorry for the long delay. It's been a miserable time, and I was high on vicodin for a lot of it, so I just didn't have the wherewithal to run the game. I'm back now though, so looking forward to jumping back into it. Unfortunately, we lost Ray. Does anyone have any opinions about whether I should seek out a replacement, or would you rather run with the group we have for now?

RPOL turnover is so fast you may as well just always have one character on the wait list.

fair enough. I think I'll keep it as is for now, and I'll recruit again if we lose more people.
