Re: OOC Thread
Yeah, it does seem to mess up the turn order of things but it's a good thing Sundri's attack isn't high enough to hit our currently alive enemies.

In reply to Westen (msg # 99):

This messes up with actions btw. Jessica and Trai already killed the archers, and Sundri is attacking them - but according to initiative, Trai will kill an already dead archer. A drawback of PBEM games...

Otherwise our situation is good, if the archers are dead I can attack the cultists and still heal Xanthas if he fails his saves without triggering attack of opportunity.

You take care of killing things, Iíll heal our comrade.

You should've waited for a few rounds, if he made his saves, there was no reason to heal at this point. Should've used potions after the fight.

Re: OOC Thread
Unless there is a high possibility of someone getting attacked again and put right back down it is almost always better to get them up as soon as possible, so they can help with the remainder of the fight if nothing else.  Also keep in mind that failed death saves don't go away just because you get healed, they stick around between fights and make you considerably more vulnerable.

Re: OOC Thread
Sry, I'm doing my best to mesh the initiative order with the posts. It's better than the "whoever posts first acts first" system because I usually check my rpol more than once a day, which means the enemies would just always end up going first.

Re: OOC Thread
Worth mentioning that Xanthas has a +6 dex mod, so him getting hit at all is already somewhat of a fluke in this case. Definitely wasn't actually trying to immediately nuke him with a single hit.

Re: OOC Thread
That is the inherent flaw of 1st level D&D games, they just aren't the same game as even 3rd level.  You can either play them soft and not present any risk, or play them lethal and everyone dies in 1 or 2 hits.

True. Ultimately, it's a tough balancing act on the DM's part trying to present a good balance of factors to create the fun. Personally I think there's something satisfying about building your character up from level 1 though, so I usually start from there.

Hi everyone, Xanthas's player is back so future posts by Xanthas will be handled by them and not by me.

Re: OOC Thread
In reply to Paladria (msg # 104):

I did not mean that. All usage of spells and abilities should depend on the situation. A spell can be interrupted by a counterspell or forcing a willpower save, while force drinking a potion can not.

IRL please be noted only a conscious mind can drink, an unconscious one can only breath, so pouring something down the mouth will end up in his lungs. Remember when doing first aid.

Question: Is Xanthas getting up? It's there serious case of the flanking btw.

Looks like we leveled up to level 2, how do you want us to gain our HP, by rolling or take average?

your choice which you want to do. I always enjoy the idea of giving people the chance to choose between a mediocre average, or gambling for a higher number.

hi everyone, make sure you share the loot. Not really fair if one person hogs the gold.
