1.  The Setting Sun.
The arm is little to go one to figure some one out, Tabitha quickly prays a prayer for a painless life or a quick death and that her god led the soul personally to their final grounds. Standing up and dusting herself off she turned to the old man. Picking up one of the sturdier chairs in the room she gingerly sat down.

Okay shopkeep let's here what has happened to my town, I have yet to introduce myself I am Tabitha the second daughter of the manor up town and from my small time here things look to have gone to hell.

1.  The Setting Sun.
The shopkeep looks around, and given the level of destruction, chooses to lean against a rough stone wall.  His good nature has faded.  "Oh child...Mayhap the years have wiped the worst away from your memory, but this place has always been a hell.  But then, even in hell, surely there must be times that seem better, and times that seem worse.  Elsewise, you'd grow numb, I suppose."

He scratches at an ear with a gnarled finger.  "This place is cursed, girl.  The land, the people, it's all...rotten.  Perhaps not every creek and copse, not every man and woman, but enough.  As for what's happened in the last few years?  Nothing other towns haven't faced.  Corruption in the guards, a decadent ruler, difficulty making ends meet.  It just...magnified.  Even time a decent person might start moving ahead, something bad happens to them.  When it seems the end of horror is in sight, it somehow survives.  Things here are slippery, but always seem to slide to disorder."

The old man finished, his eyes staring into nothingness.

Well enough misery tabatha said standing up from the chair let's go finish purchasing my potions including this one tabatha said pulling the fire red one from her pack. I am in town and with the help of my god we will fix this land or curse it to the plane of death. Tabatha stood from her speech looked at the shop keep and walked up the stairs. Oh and by the way what's your name she called back behind her.

The elderly man waves a gnarled hand wearily regarding the red potion.  It doesn't seem to faze him.  He slowly makes his way up the stairs behind Tabitha.  "Mine name is Ruben."  He gestures to the assortment of potions and salves.  "Everything be labelled.  Just...tell what you be wanting."

1.  The Setting Sun.
Tabitha's arrival at the manor reveals an estate in decline.  Dry fountains, weed-grown walkways, and ivy-covered walls slowly crumbling.  The young maid who opened the door did not recognize or evidently expect Tabitha's arrival, and tried to direct her to a food charity in town.  Upon Tabitha naming herself an Escutcheon, she was escorted in to the Map Room, a cherished place in Tabitha's memories.  The room now lies dusty and abandoned, with most everything tucked away and covered with white cloths.

Tabitha's arrival preceded the reading of the will.  She spotted her great-aunt Matilde there, as well as her cousin Kiara.  None of her other family members were present, including her direct siblings.

At the reading of the will, it was revealed the estate and duties of ruling the people of Haven was Tabitha's to claim if she so chose.  If she declined, or if anyone contested the transfer of power, they were granted the right to Trial by Light one month after her arrival.

Tabitha accepted, prompting Kiara to leave suddenly, and for Old Man Ygg to heavily imply that perhaps Tabitha might consider allowing Kiara to lead the town, as she was well-qualified.  Left unstated was that he believed Tabitha was not.

After the reading, Tabitha informed Ygg that she would like to speak with Kiara, and he led her to the foyer.  Kiara has subdued her anger somewhat.  She inclines her head a slight amount to Tabitha.  "Yes?"

Kieara, I know you don't me and I don't know you so I will make this short.
You have the right to contest my rule of the small town and I fully expect you to do so, but i want to hear your reasons for this?

1.  The Setting Sun.
Kiara speaks intensely, as though restraining herself, though her words don't reflect that at all.  "You are a poor choice to lead.  You know little of the town in its current state, you seem to go out of your way to insult others, and unless you've somehow established a fiefdom elsewhere, you have minimal experience with the logistics of rulership.  The people here are teetering on the verge of destruction.  I can save them; I have the skills, the connections, and the leadership.  Nothing about you indicates that you can bring this town strength."

She eyes you, deliberately not seeking your input on her statement, merely waiting until she can leave while maintaining decorum.

"I don't; Pharasma has not been much help to this community.  That said, unless serving Pharasma requires that you rule over a barony, I doubt it's more than passing relevant.  You seek to appeal to me based on your character?  You've already demonstrated your character, and it's one of several reason I don't support you for this position."

Sense Motive: 21
It seems clear to you that talk alone will not bring Kiara to your side.  She needs to observe for herself that you are both capable of ruling, and a person worthy of ruling.

1.  The Setting Sun.
Tabitha smiles lifting up her hand  ( preparing death touch from the death domain) pharasma teaches that life and death are entwined, which is hilarious if you know that she knows everything. Well she teaches that for life to happen death was nessasary. I say this to you my reason to come here was not just because of the death, this place molded me jaded me ( Tabitha smashes her hand dispelling the negative energy that gathered ( this will consume one of my uses of death touch)). You want the leadership role you will need to fight me for it, and I warn you, the baron did not know what he created with me. With that Tabitha turns and heads to seek out the councelor ( the one that will inform her the state of the town and what she has access to)

1.  The Setting Sun.
Once out of the room and before Tabitha meets some one she quickly finds a secluded room, checking it to make sure she is alone she let's her emotions take should of her. God she was about to kill that girl, fear anger and sadness swirl through her as she holds onto the ring cold in her hands from the negative energy. Getting her resolve back she quietly left the room to resume her search for the counselor.

In due course Tabitha finds Ygg, smirking a bit.  "Kiara is a potential ally, and a strong one.  But not to someone who threatens her."  He shuffles his papers and looks up at the young baroness.  "How may this humble servant be of assistance?"

1.  The Setting Sun.
Ygg purses his lips, thinking.  "In town?  Many things happen in town.  The people work, when able, though we have little in the way of valuable exports or expert craftsmen.  Deaths are within tolerable limits, no particular illnesses in the community.  It is primarily an agrarian economy, with a woeful amount of self-sufficiency, but little profit."

The old man furrows his brow considering Tabitha's requests.  "As for cults...There are worshippers of the Elder gods.  They gather on the coastline every so often.  Hard to predict exactly when - their dates seem based on something other than our traditional calendar.  There was a time, many years ago, when they were dangerous; people went missing regularly.  However, that hasn't happened for a long time.  Certainly, yes, people go missing every so often, but with little or no evidence of foul play."

He nods at the baroness' final request.  "We can send a unit of the guard to clear out the landslide.  They should be well-equipped to protect themselves.  That said, I wouldn't hold out hope for them to isolate a singular cause of a landslide.  They're fair for asking people questions, but they aren't much for investigating nature."  He quirks an eyebrow.  "Unless of course, you'd prefer to send someone else?"

Tabitha has the capacity to recruit various assistants through the course of the game.  Each has their own strengths and weaknesses.  Some will assist with adventuring, others with administrative duties such as this.  Administrative allies provide bonuses and abilities based on their background, but every person has their own motives.

Assistants can also help Tabitha with town development rolls.  To see a list of currently identified assistants, see "A Brief History of the Universe."

sense motive to tell if what is being said is true(
10:18, Today: Tabitha rolled 23 using 1d20+10. )

I would like to send the guards to clear out the area so that we can have a safe and accessible town. The next step is to clear the lands and prepare for a mass planting. If the lands need to be blessed send for myself or another of the clerics that worship a god of nature or order. We will plan to plant more food than we believe possible because will will be having a harvest festival once the plants grow, keep it on the down low until 2 months for the harvest.

My plans are situated as pharasma instructs.

Life before death, unless death is unavoidable.

therefore we will fix the land and make it hospital, we will grow the town and make it inviting, and if the cult refuses to refrain from their activity we will drive them from town.

Oh, and yggs," find me my men she says revealing the the mark of the cove tattooed to her left collar bone.

1.  The Setting Sun.
Ygg's words ring true to Tabitha, though she also realizes she could drive carriages through the gaps in what was not said.  Ygg chooses his words carefully; as far as Tabitha can recall, he has never been caught in a lie.  In response to her orders, he inclines his head slightly.  "I will see to your orders.  Be aware, Pharasmic worship has little presence in this town.  To emphasize her may drive some away."

So you have 4 weeks before the Trial of Light.  It sounds like you want to spend 3 weeks doing:
Improve Economy
Another Improve Economy or perhaps Morale.
Pursue Lead: Cove of the Black Skull.

If that's correct, go ahead and roll for the first two and we'll engage in RP for the third.  If that's not correct or you have questions, text or call me.

It is highly recommended that before each monthly "Showdown" that you invest at minimum one week pursuing the related lead.

1.  The Setting Sun.
Improve economony roll apprasal (23:03, Today: Tabitha rolled 17 using 1d20+2.  economy.)

Improve morale roll deplomacy(23:03, Today: Tabitha rolled 15 using 1d20+7.  Improve morale.)

I want to hold after those two and if it wont consume a week, find the state of the town and people. i will state that Tabitha won't push her god on people the reason she was look at followers of her god was because they have access to healing properties which could remove the curse from the land and allow crops to grow, this can be achieved by like 4 of the 13 gods so any of those will work as well. Tabitha's first goal is to get the people happy and fed, then to build a trade( most likely the potion guy will be her path out) that will place the town in connection to others from their they can affect infrastructure and health. So my first two weeks were food(economy) and moral. With that I want Tabatha to meet with some of the key people that grow the food and "accem" intertain the people. after seeing what the town looks like after two weeks, i would like to talk to kiara again, then after that I will find the cove or info about the cove

1.  The Setting Sun.
Tabitha attends to the mundane tasks of rulership, planting the figurative and literal seeds for the town's success.  She makes connections with several farmers, including Celtis, the patriarch of a veritable horde of children, all of whom work to tend fields west of the city.  Evidently, a large barrier for them is the quality of the land they have.  Though they are skilled at their trade, the land gives her bounty but reluctantly.

In addition, during Tabitha's arrangements for boosting morale, she runs across a traveling minstrel, Aram.  Like many of his ilk, he offers more skills than entertainment alone, boasting proficiency with knives, minor magicks, and spycraft.

Economy and Morale have both gained 1 XP.

Celtis and Aram added to Brief History.  Celtis is not yet recruitable.  Aram is recruitable for both adventuring and administration, and his cost amounts to 1 economy XP point (essentially, you would be giving up the 1 week of progress for economy to obtain his services, and he would permanently join the roster.  Recruiting does not take time (except when it's part of another action, like following up on a lead), so you can recruit him before progressing into the next storyline if you like.

We'll enter a roleplay session for week 3 below.

1.  The Setting Sun.
Ygg returns to account for the efforts in town.  "Good day, Baroness.  We've reached out to the Lady Kiara as requested.  She has accepted your request to speak, but she evidently is still nonplussed about your last encounter.  She stated she is busy, but you may call on her at her estate.  It's not too far a trip, roughly a day and a half north by carriage."

He consults his files.  "Also, there has evidently been some clamor on the south side of the province.  Apparently a starstone fell on a farmer's homestead.  Ah, and Steeplechase Road has been cleared.  As expected, the soldiers were at a loss to determine the cause.  They could say it was unlikely explosives, but that is the best they were able to offer."

Added Lead: From the Stars

"Is there anything in particular you would like to do in preparation of seeing the Lady?"

1.  The Setting Sun.
The ride is frustratingly slow, but thankfully devoid of landslides and forest marathons.  The gift Ygg selected is a bottle of wine.  Though the vintage is not particularly fine, it was one crafted during one of Kiara's childhood visits while she had taken an interest in oenology.  A thoughtful gift, if not particularly generous.

The carriage eventually pulls up to the estate.  A servant in livery opens the door to the carriage, granting Tabitha a view of the modest estate.  The building is largely natural stone from a nearby quarry, shaped by local craftsmen in a style influenced by dwarven architecture.

"Welcome to the estate, Baroness.  If you would be so kind as to follow me, I'll lead you to your quarters.  The Lady Renault will be available to entertain you the afternoon and evening.  I believe she has assembled an impromptu gala in celebration of your visit.  Some locals of note will be in attendance.  Until then, you have time to walk the grounds, or visit the town.  Please let me or any other servant know if you need anything."

I would like to go to town after using some of my clothes and materials to disguise myself. I don't have a disuse lit so I will roll disguise and you can add or subtract what you seem necessary and in the sense of rollplaying don't let me know if I passed I will role play thinking I did.

1.  The Setting Sun.
Tabitha manages to reach the town in a passable disguise.  The town seems somewhat busy, possibly due to the gala tonight.  Such an event would definitely require supplies from town.

OOC: Please describe your current appearance.
The town has typical amenities one would expect in a town (temple, taverns, general goods, some academic areas, etc), but the town layout is not set in stone.  Feel free to improv a bit here.

1.  The Setting Sun.
As Tabitha pulls out the supplies from her bags she remembers back to Sam s teaching on this "art". "You will have it the hardest, he said with smile, if you step out of this room looking anything less than a beggar the whole world will stop to admire your beauty". Tabitha remembers the gentle press of his lips on hers and the soft touch of his hand on her cheack. Looking at what she has Tabitha slipped out of her clerical garmet that she always wore, pharasma can forgive her for what she is about to do. Through the years she found the one thing that could go unnoticed in town and holdings was a server girl beauty didn't matter and attention to task was expected of them. Pulling her simple servants dress she quickly put it on. As she was adjusting the gown she picked a colored ribbion. She saw as she walked in that all the servants had a sky blue color to their gown to demark who they were in service of. Pulling a ribbon that she believes was of similar color. She wrapped the ribbons around her hair and used it to tie the hair into a simple pony tail. The last thing she did was take her silver necklace and ring and wrap it around her wrist and slipping the ring on to her finger. It was a simple way to exuse herself from situations stating that she must get the lady's jewels resized and the silver chain is to prevent pick pockets.

With that done she quickly stuffed her packs and gently peaked to make sure no one was looking

Darting out the door she walked with buried steps slowly getting accustomed to her new getup who she calls "lily". Finding her way through the servants paths she joined a group of servants walking to the town to fetch supplies. She listens to the conversation while the travel.

1.  The Setting Sun.
As the wagon trundles into town, loaded with other servants, Tabitha hears plenty of gossip.  Little of it seems useful, though she gleans a few gems.  It turns out the Lady Renault has been spending even more time practicing her fencing form than she usually does.  A dedicated disciple of the blade, she now spends upwards of half her waking hours running forms and sparring with others.  It's gotten to where she has to invite swordsmasters from out of town to push her training.  Some of the serving girls worry this has put a strain on her, not only physically, but also in terms of her social graces; she has been short a few times, though she's normally a kind Lady.

Other gems include the fact that the town really is improving.  One of the serving girls points out the progress being made to finish setting up a quarry off the main road.  "Oh, it's been since my granddaddy's age that people've talked about working the stone, but somethin' always came up.  She's got the discipline to get things done, she does."

Finally, you hear of tensions within Kiara's family, due to pressure on her to marry and produce an heir.  Evidently she is adept at keeping such conversations out of the public eye, but keen-eared servants still hear the occasional angry mutter.  So far, none of the parade of suitors have met the Lady's standards.

The town proper comes into view.  There's still probably a quarter hour til the party reaches it.
