Complications
Enemy: The dangerous criminal Charlan is also loose on Earth, with shapechanging abilities and who knows what else.

Fame: Xi'an is the first alien to make contact with Earth, no matter how accidental. It turns out that humans are very curious about things like that.

Prejudice: Xi'an is very obviously not human and not everyone is comfortable with that.

Zhi'an was born on the planet Saphia, deep in what humans know as the Andromeda galaxy. There she spent her young childhood shadowing her parents who were simple farmers, growing food and designing their own clothes. That taught her the value of hard work.

When she was a teenager, that peaceful life ended. There was a violent and chaotic coup d'etat. The new dictator wanted to develop super-soldiers so he could then go on to conquer other planets. Zhi'an was one of the chosen victims. There she experienced constant agonizing experiments she didn't expect to survive. She was the only survivor, but had been given powers to control the weather. The dictator was pleased. Until Zhi'an escaped.

On the streets she was desperate, but the resistance contacted her when they found out about her powers. Xhi'an was more than willing to help out. After about a year of battles, the dictator was overthrown. The resistance wanted to have her help restore the planet, but she felt that she wanted to see more of the universe. Taking a space ship she headed out.

While roaming universe she encountered the Galactic Guardians, what was basically a clubhouse for people with powers. Zhi'an joined out and spent a few villains fighting villains and wannabe galactic conquerors. Then she was chasing a shapeshifting assassin by the name of Charlan into a primitive solar system where the local populace hadn't developed space travel. After a brief battle, the two ships were sent crashing down to the third planet from the sun.

Kryten - Zhi'an's small robot who helps her up with things like her fashion work. She has no combat abilities and a very sarcastic personality.

Complications
Fame – Ruby is a famous pop idol as well as stage magician. Lots of people know her on sight.

Identity – Thanks to a magic spell of her own design, while she's out doing the hero thing, no one can recognize her. It doesn't work on other mages and mystic beings for some reason

Power Loss – If Ruby can't gesture or speak, she can't use any of her spells.

Reputation – Ruby and her father aren't thought of well by other mages. Able to wield secret power, but spending time as a mere entertainer? Unthinkable.

NPCs
Benjamin White – Ruby's father who pushed her and pushed her her entire life, but now that she's more famous than he's ever been,  Ben's been kind of cold. He makes a living as a stage magician and comedian, as well as being a rather good mage himself. He has never told Ruby anything about her mother.

Boots – Ruby's familiar, a two year old black cat with white feet. He likes to see the apartment where they live as his domain and can sometimes order Ruby around. The little red dot is his mortal enemy.

Mrs. Clark – A sweet elderly neighbour of Ruby. She has never heard of Ruby before and is often dropping off food or looking to speak with her, wondering why such a young girl is living on her own

Robert Brass - A rather large, cigar smoking man that is Ruby's agent. He's not pleased with the current hiatus, has big plans for her comeback tour.
