Prelude: Open gates and dark hallways
The group crest the hill leading to the tower. The stories told do nothing to compare to the size and magnitude that stands before them. A tall structure reaching to the clouds and as black as night on the bright blue day. Their seems to be an aura around the tower as the clouds that roll by part for it as if the tower is a large bolder and the clouds are a meandering river. The group is still a half days journey from the tower the grassland around showing the blotched marks of previous explorers all going to for their own personal goals. The group takes a moment to rest, snack, and move on.

Take this moment to have all the characters mentally prepare for the tower and realign to their personal goal to find in the tower (be creative no one knows what to find in the tower)

Prelude: Open gates and dark hallways
The motley group eyes the Tower in the distance, quietly resting, knowing this may be the last chance to relax for an unknown time.  Sierra's eyes keep drawing back to Tyksis, though.  The young man is engaged in lively conversation with the thin air.

He stares into nearby space.  "Yes, I understand.  But why are we going?  Why not?  Hmm..."  Evidently satisfied, if not happy with the answers granted, Tyksis continues puttering with his gear, mumbling an unfamiliar song.

Sierra looks intently to the second man, older and more present than the mage.  "Are you sure about him?  I know beggars can't be choosers, but..." She trails off, uncertain of how to address her concerns.

The older man shrugs.  "He seems to have some proficiency in the arcane.  More to the point, he says he's close to unlocking a means of feeding us indefinitely, and his reasoning is sound, as far as I can see.  I don't anticipate he'd try to harm us."

Still sorting through his gear, the young mage interjects, not bothering to look up.  "She says it's important to keep you alive.  It's rare that she changes her mind about something like that.  Besides, the Tower seems to be a conduit to other core worlds.  As I'm sure you know, peripheral worlds are super easy to access, but core worlds are an entirely different matter."

"Uh...huh..." was all Sierra had to offer.  To Sol, she murmurs, "How about all that?  That all sound?"  The older priest simply shook his head, uncertain.  "The Tower may indeed be a path to other worlds or planes; it makes some sense given the little we know about it.  That said, the rest seems to be, ah...Highly individualized beliefs."  He chuckles, "Still, it makes as much sense as either of our reasons, I suppose."

"I'm just here to settle a debt."  Sierra said, barely containing her anger at the comparison.  Sol just smiled, shrugging.  "The debt of a dead man, owed to those who never intend to collect?"

Sierra's eyes narrowed.  "Tread carefully.  That dead man was my father, and a good man."  The older clergyman nodded and raised his hands in surrender.  "My apologies.  That was out of line.  For myself, though, one could argue I seek another world.  Core or peripheral makes no difference to me, but I'm ready to be rid of this one."

The conversation dies down at that, the various members of the group absorbed in their own thoughts, their eyes once again drifting to the Tower.

The group continues on to the entrance of the tower the tall ominous door into the UNKNOWN leaves the group with a prickling sense of hunger. The tower wants to devour them in all aspects body, mind, and spirit.

Each player makes two check, one check in their strongest of FORT, Reflex, and WILL.
and one check in their weakest core stat.

Prelude: Open gates and dark hallways
Your party walks into the mouth of the tower, magic sensitive people and creatures will notice that their is a subtle hum as they passed the gates open mouth. The long hallway is dark lit only by the lights the party brought. As the gate dissapears behind them and the darkness unfurls before them a cold pressure pushes into each of them as the voice of the tower rings.

Welcome to the tower of the sentinel. Those who have entered may only leave by one means. Ascending the tower and learning the truth. Knowing this you will be able to come and leave as you wish. Be what you seek treasure, escape, or answers the tower will not give freely. Bravely walk forward for their is no alternative.

As the cold voice ends the dark corridor suddenly widens as the hallway elongates and lightens and three pedestals arise each written with words that are hard to read at first glance.

The three are silent a moment after the voice terminates its statement.  "Answers?  No, you wouldn't need answers," Tyksis mutters.  "And I have no idea what possible treasure you might need...Escape, now...Escape seems possible.  But with access to all worlds, what would you wish to escape?"  If there is any response, no one hears it.

Sierra eyes the young mage as she approaches the left pedestal, eyes open for tricks and traps.  After a moment, the two men split up as well, with Sol taking the center pedestal and Tyksis walking to the remaining one.

Sol immediately steps back from the center pedestal, as if he might be burned.  "Sierra?  Hello?  Can you hear me?"  While not yet panicked, the priest is on guard, and watchful.

In contrast, the mage Tyksis continues examining his own pedestal, not particularly concerned with the goings-on.

The Sentinel rolled 24 using 1d20+4.  Sol will save.

Sol expert eyes and way mentality saved him as the crushing force of energy pass through him. Turning around he notices that he is still in the chamber with tykis but now their is a third person a cloaked figure that stares out at the two with a passive hatred. "This won't do one of you must go. Lifting up his finger the cloak drops away revealing a hand that is aged beyond years. "My fare king went out one day, The figure croaked pointing between the two men, and he came home with one more horror. One more pulse travels through the room.

Both sol and tykis need to make will saves.

Sol, ever the peacemaker (and sensitive to the power of these waves of energy), raises his hands in a show of nonviolence.  "How do we leave here?  Perhaps there is a peaceful way for us to do so."  He left it unsaid that even if there is a way, he intends to contact his missing comrade before moving on.

Tyksis, however, mumbles incoherently.  "No, I can't see any more than you.  There's something in the way."  He gestures towards the figure's hood.

You both are strong in energy, this is difficult. The ethereal hand reaches out hand pushes pack the hood. A gray ashen looking man with ruby red eyes glares out at tykis. I see she have found the kings horror. An ecoing voice begins to sound around the room as queer energy pushes in on tykis.

21:49, Today: The Sentinel rolled 10 using 1d20+4.  Sole will save.

And take your pet with you the pissed frail man swiped his hand. Come oh holy one we are behind schedual. As the figure clicked his hand the walls slammed in and began moving at his past leaving only the hallway that for all life he couldn't remember it being their.

Numbly, Sol follows the figure.  He'd have pursued either of his allies over this, but it seemed the building obeyed the whims of this person.  Idly, he wondered whether he was being escorted to his death.  Not that it was necessarily a bad thing, but he'd anticipated getting further.  Perhaps this is why no one had returned; it wasn't simply an empty tower, it was inhabited by those prepared to do harm to trespassers.

Prelude: Open gates and dark hallways
My other companions are showing your friends around their towers. The figure seemed to spit in hatred when he spoke companions. I am not that simple, you will figure this tower like I have or you will die. As simply put I will give you the treasure and lead you to the stairs. As the figure walked Sol noted that the folds of skin around the man face didn't quite line up with that of a human, and as the figure spoke the skin sagged and pulled at all the wrong times. While noting the figure the tower began to change around them and soon opened up to a large room about 20ft by 50 ft with what looked to be a sword embed into the cobblestone.

Sol resists a faint surge of vertigo as the tower rearranges itself.  "...'Their' towers?  So the Tower is not a single entity?"  The priest didn't expect a helpful answer, but it seemed the creature was willing to speak, if only in anger.  Perhaps he could sift something useful from that.  He peered around the room.  The sword in the center was an obvious focal point, but things here seemed unlikely to be so straightforward.

The room shifts and rumbles as a large hole appears suddenly in the far left of the room. The angry figure stairs at the disturbance with mild attention. Sol can't seem to get a read on this figure. The figure turns to sol and sarcastically points to the sword. Well aren't you going to take it, its the towers gift for you keep if you survive.

As his hand touches the hilt a sudden deadpanning of his feeling with a sense of damage washes over his arm( take 1 point of electrical damage). The sword disintegrations into dust which swishes with an unseen wind as it coales on SOL's weapon. As this is happening a figure apears from the hole soaring and floating as if only weighing twenty pounds. as she clears the jump the tower closes up behind her and she seatles down not 20 ft away from Sol. Turning Sol now sees that two figures are in the room with him.

Sol shakes his arm, trying to dispel the pins and needles racing through him.  On seeing Sierra, smiles.  "I guess things are working out well for you?  Find a treasure or two already?"

Sierra nods her head.  "Well, that's good, I suppose.  My gracious host has led me here, only to zap me with a booby trap," the priest complains.  He throws a sullen look at the figure.

Sierra follows his eyes to the creature, but then looks around impatiently.  "Where is the strange one?"  Sol looks guilty and responds, "We were separated."  Both of them look around, trying to get their bearings in the shifting tower.

Prelude: Open gates and dark hallways
The angry figure points back behind him. In order for you to assent the tower you must locate the stairs and climb them on some floors that stairs are known on others they are hidden and some they are loked. You will know you reached the top of the tower when the sky is both shown above and below you, as for what is waiting for you we do not know for we are mere puppets of this tower. As he finishes the last sentence a third figure appeared and tykis shows up moving from a new hole in the ground.

57, Today: The Sentinel, for the NPC Tykis will, rolled 4 using 1d20+2.

09:57, Today: The Sentinel, for the NPC Sierra will, rolled 9 using 1d20+4.

09:56, Today: The Sentinel, for the NPC Sol will, rolled 18 using 1d20+5.

Any last questions the figure asks?

Prelude: Open gates and dark hallways
Sol hisses through his teeth when he sees Tyksis' arm, seared and cradled to his chest.  The priest ushers the young man over.  Looking to the figures, he says, "I'm about to bring about a burst of healing.  Some creatures find this...unpleasant.  Be warned."  He gives the figures a moment to back away if they choose, and then recites a brief benediction.  "Noa oyal fel Inhelion.  Cubrenoa des towar."  A gentle light radiates outward, healing the group of their wounds.

Tyksis works his arm clear, smiling at the unbroken skin.  "Oh!  Questions!  Um, do you know where the Angel came from?  I can never get a clear answer."
