Your blossoming has come and has struck your life into chaos...

Dawn looked down at the corpses of the... things... she had just killed.  She thought such horrors were confined to adult cartoons.  Yet there they were, bleeding black, not red.

The sword.  The sword had come from nowhere.  The sword had fit into her hand as if she'd been born to wield it.  She'd certainly known how to use it as if she'd been trained all her life.  Lancelot would have done better, of course.  Still, she thought the Round Table would have been proud of her this day.

The thought of chivalry reminded her to look for the other children.  Yes, they were all safely gone.  She thanked God for that.

Once again, she looked at the sword, cleaning it off.

"Are you Excalibur?"

the sword does not answer but seems familiar to her now...

Dawn looked around for a scabbard and found it on the belt that had just appeared around her waist.  She sheathed the sword, thinking You have certainly earned a name this day, but what name?  Odd, her legs seemed longer than they should be.

Dawn walked away from the icky dead things and found a car window to use as a mirror.  Was that her?  Her hair was the wrong color, too long too and she seemed to have grown up.  Where did the clothes come from?  Were those real rubies on her tiara?

Dawn had a lot to think about.  She decided to try to go home and get some answers.  Certainly the police were never going to believe this.

she notices that along the way home the transformation becomes harder to sustain and eventually fades.

Dawn was actually grateful that the transformation faded by the time she got home.  She didn't want to explain it to her parents.

Once she was safely inside her condo, Dawn woke up her computer and began searching for answers to a few questions.

What were those things?

Did anyone else transform the way she had?

Dawn sighed at Bing and Google.  No answers. Where was Merlin when you needed him?

She did her homework until six in the evening, when she watched the local TV news.  She hoped someone had found the mess and was willing to at least speculate about it.

She finds some interesting references 2 missing persons in the last few days no sign of a body or a struggle just vanished without a trace...

That is interesting, Dawn thinks.  Did they transform the way she did?  Did they get eaten by things?

Dawn takes notes on where those two missing people were last seen.  She'll go look at those places tomorrow.  For now, she'll try to get ahead in her classes, just in case she won't have time for homework tomorrow.

Eventually Dawn will go to bed, perchance to dream.

Clearly the thing to do is to give a rousing speech, then go find the enemy.

Unless the battle's over already.  In that case, give a victory speech and go explore the city.

she goes out to find the enemy knowing she exists for this to fight this war to defend the people to be the Champion

She wakes up the next day.

Dawn thinks about the dream while she's getting dressed for school.  What was that city?  It certainly didn't look like Camelot.  Was it Atlantis?

Dawn did her best to appear completely normal at breakfast.  When she went to school, she tried hard to pay attention in class.  It was a little difficult, given that she might be fighting more icky things after school.

After school, instead of taking her favorite shortcut (which she will never take again) home, she goes to where the first missing person was last seen.  Odds are she will find nothing, but she will try, keeping in mind what they say on TV about investigating crime scenes.

When she gets there she finds same thing police have reported That they vanished...

She finds though a slight conspicuous scrape on the paint on a bench along one of their regular routes suggesting their was a bit of a struggle... but no body or blood...

Dawn thinks whoever did this was good, or good at cleaning up.  One struggling victim and all that was left behind was a scrape in the paint.

Dawn sighs and goes home.  Once again, she will see what the Internet can tell her.  Did the two victims have anything in common at all?

Shes able to penetrate things on her condition and find a number of forums aimed at "The hopeful"

Dawn frowns.  Obviously she'll have to go back to where the two disappeared from at night.  That's going to be tricky.  She usually isn't allowed out very late.

Dawn decides to investigate the forums about "The Hopeful".  Maybe she can learn something about yesterday from them.  She certainly hopes so.

she learns the basics of what the hopeful are That they magically transform to use their powers.

and that they have a mandate to protect and improve the world.

Well, that sounds like what happened to me, Dawn thinks.  Now what?  Should I go seek the Holy Grail?

Dawn does some more digging into the forums.  Is there a discussion group or a support group?  She won't be able to meet any of these people in person, since she can't hand out her contact information.

Their is to the best of my knowledge no such thing for now you should prepare to make war upon creatures of darkness.

Dawn stares at the computer screen (even if that isn't where the message came from).  That's just plain bizarre.

How does a twelve-year old prepare to fight the forces of darkness? Can she get a fencing teacher?  Would practicing the transformation until she can do it smoothly and fast help?  Where does one get armor these days?

Dawn decides that the Internet can help her find a fencing teacher, after she bookmarks the forums about "the Hopeful".  If she can find one willing to teach a child, she'll note down prices and talk to her parents about it.  They have to pay for it.

Until her parents get home, Dawn practices transforming in her room.  That way, her parents won't walk in on her in what she thinks of as "princess form".

she finds it not much of a practicable skill but something coming from her Belief and Light within.

on the forum they mention that she should try to look for other local hopeful if possible


Don't hunt Darkspawn alone if at all possible.

Dawn has no idea how to go about this right now.  If Dawn can't find other Hopefuls, she'll have to go fight Darkspawn (whatever those are) all by herself.  Dawn suspects that dialing 911 the next time she sees something icky won't be an option.

Theirs a number of forums we can set you up with that will help you meet prospective Nakama mates.

also look at the website for the light company but be aware they are mercenarys and will charge.

still it is best to limit your reliance on them to a as needed basis especially if your young.

Dawn registers for the forums and puts up a post.

Dawn sends e-mail, then.

shes asked a bunch of standard questions


Then told she'll be told when other hopeful nearbye are found... in meantime try to do her work safely.

Dawn answers the questions as best she can.

Dawn also wonders how one goes about fighting the forces of darkness safely.  In the meantime, since she doesn't have more clues or more ideas, Dawn goes back to her normal life.  She does spend some time reading about the early stages of the quest for the Holy Grail.  It almost seems as though the quest will need to find her.  When you're in school and living at home, going out in a random direction looking for adventures really isn't possible.

Dawn will try to sneak out and look for the missing people that night.  Sneaking out of the house has to be done in her mundane form.  Once she gets near where they were last seen, Dawn will try to transform and look in that form.

4 Monsters the one that seems in charge also seems a trifle frail for some reason but still dangerous enough in its own way.

Observe a moment.  Does she think she can win a fight with them? 4's a lot of monsters.

If Dawn thinks she'll lose a fight with them, she'll get out of there and call the police, reporting 4 very suspicious-looking people.

Dawn will try to keep 1 monster alive if she can.  She has a few questions she'd like answered.

It might seem doubtful they have the faculties to answer questions She can tell one thing this is all one creature and its spawn.

Those claws hurt, but Dawn keeps fighting.  She seems to be getting better at it.

Dawn is very grateful for her armor.  The monsters can't die fast enough to suit her.  She swings at one of the two monsters left...

It also collapses to dust, last one there trys fleeing... hunt it down or try seeing where it trys running too?

Dawn chooses to give chase, to see where the last monster flees to.  There might be a den of such monsters, or there might be a portal.  It's worth finding out, either way.

It hard to follow... but shes able to find it flees to just over some houses storm shelter...


Then it vanishes.

Dawn decides to investigate that spot over the storm shelter.  It may be a portal of some kind.  Once she's learned as much as she can, she'll go home and try to look these specific monsters and the details of the spot up on the Internet.

A possiblety that is mentioned on the internet is a few darkspawwn have shown the ability to turn those they kill into darkspawn... which may explain the mysterious disappearances

As for the storm cellar she finds nothing.

If theirs an atrocity there or in the house itself its well hidden.

Dawn goes home.  After her research session on the Internet, she goes to sleep.

She has Dreams of Martial Parades and a grand City... Then something comes for them she cannot say what.

Dawn wakes up from the dream-turned-nightmare.  She spends some time researching legendary cities on the Internet, hoping to figure out which one appears in her dreams.

That sounds correct, Dawn thinks.  Depending on the time, Dawn will either go back to sleep or get ready for another day of school.

Dawn will go back to that house with the storm cellar after school, around sunset.  She will keep watch and see if any Darklings come out.

Dawn isn't ready to try breaking and entering, so she goes home and gets back on the forums after dinner.  Can the forums suggest a way to clean that house up, preferably without breaking the law?

This could be as  easy as pie, or it could be impossible depending what kind of person the owner is.

Once youu have safe access to the tainted place you do a number of things all could be succewssful in some cases

Beyond that, you'll find a dark door, that always looks like a natural seeming door or entrance of some kind it isn't blatantly obvious but feels unwholesome when contemplated.

Dawn is still confused.  She tries to think of the best day and time to sneak onto the property and look around the storm shelter.

It might be best at night... and best if she had a means of opening it.

Incidently Infiltration and Espionage is amongst the Services the light company will  provide but its Pricy enough in wisps to be a last resort.

That means Dawn needs a flashlight, a credit card, a crowbar and possibly a Swiss army knife.

yes she can buy them all.

Try doing any purchases transformed, that way you wont have to answer awkward questions.

Dawn will go shopping transformed.  The credit card will probably come from someone's junk mail.  Once she has her tools, she'll try to break into the storm shelter after dark.

She gets an awkward glance or too in the store...but without her armor no ones too flabbergasted.

Dawn studies the storm cellar door.  Everyone says that the way to go is to pry at the door with a crowbar a little, then slide a credit card past the bolt of the lock and get it open that way.  Dawn will try this.

OOC: I don't know what to roll.  Dawn doesn't have either Lockpicking or Security.
