1.3 Thank You For Not Screaming (Abe)

Sparrow was at home the glass wall opened to her balcony. A nice breeze swept through her apartment.

She was seated in a meditative stance and she was working her magic. Threads of heatless fire forming around her as she moved her arms to some internal cadence. Magic oozing all around her.

Arriving through his portal, Abe stopped and watched what Sparrow was doing with wonder in his eyes, entranced by the flames and the motion.  He kept silent and tried to discern what she was doing without asking, though he could barely imagine.

She stopped shortly after he had arrived and it struck Abe that he had texted her and she had responded to the text before he arrived. Was this a lightshow for his benefit? Or was it a continuation of something she had started before the text and continued after she had responded?

She unfolded her legs and placed her feet on the floor, she was floating in the air at the perfect distance, and without losing a beat she then started walking towards him.

"How can I help you," Sparrow asked.

Abe smirked slightly.  But refrained from asking if the fire she had been playing with was an illusion to impress.  It would just negate any fun Sparrow had had with it.  Besides, it still looked impressive.

He held up the blood samples.  "These are samples of blood we recovered off the Banshees we fought tonight.  Some certainly alive, some probably not."  He indicated the different samples.  "The Baron asked if you would track them for us... and that's a spell I'd really like to learn.  Being able to track important enemies or objects would be..."

As he thought about tracking the Banshees, a thought occurred to him.  "Oh, crud."  He sprinted to his room and tore into the crates, emptying the staves on the ground and checking for any kind of tracking device that may have been planted in the contents.

Handing the bloody brass to Sparrow, Abe ran to the containers. He emptied them quickly and as he had feared, there was a tracking device in one of them.

"Hey Sparrow?" Abe called quickly, "Any chance you have the apartment set up to block an electronic tracking signal?  and/or  are you able to open a portal to somewhere the military wouldn't associate with either of us?  Asking for a friend."

"What tracker?  I said I was asking for a friend."  Asked Abe, as he sheepishly brought it out to Sparrow, holding it with some of the packing material so as to avoid leaving prints.

With flowing movements, she opened a fire-rimmed portal to a wooded area. "Toss it."

Abe promptly did so.  "Where is that?"  He asked, curious.

"Nowhere important," Sparrow said and closed the portal. "Do you have a go bag? Get it. If not, leave everything. It's time to learn Rejuvenation."

How many crates of staves are in Abe's room? And how many staves per crate?

There's one crate with three staff weapons and the one you removed from the crate that is now with Isabella. Which accounts for all four that were in the crate when you found it.

Abe grabbed his rucksack and collected the three remaining rifle staves and carried them back to Sparrow.  "Rejuvenation?"

"A new start," Sparrow said. "A new life."

"They will come for those. You should leave them."

"A new life?  Like abandoning everything from this one?"  He asked.

"The Baron wants them.  They are especially effective against vampires."  Abe said simply.  "Can I open a portal to the club while you prepare what you're doing?"  He asked.

"Normally, yes," Sparrow said. "But I understand that you have commitments you need to keep here. So it will not be that completely. But it will be a new home and a new identity for me. They shouldn't be able to find much on you as you've traveled to and from this place mostly supernaturally."

"You can do that. And I'll deal with the crate. Perhaps that will make it more difficult for them to make sense out of this."

"I'm so sorry, Sparrow."  Abe said.  He now felt even more bad about having joked about the tracker at all.

He shot off a quick text to Dean to warn him about the incoming staves and got right to opening a portal to the private area of the club and putting the staves through.

As Abe sorted the staff weapons out and sent them to the club, Sparrow sorted out the crate and sent it to the same wooded area she had sent the tracker.

"Don't worry about it. When you have lived as long as I have, you're always ready to leave one  life and start another."

She then opened a new portal to a tropical beach. "Let's go."
