Cora, though frozen in place by horrors conjured within her mind's eye, nevertheless managed to sheath herself in hoarfrost.
Opalia charged down the mountainside, kicking an orc through the wall of flame where it landed burning at its lieutenant's feet. The commanding orc spared barely a downward glance. "Get up," he ordered. The yeti she attacked was no more intimidated, though it was injured.
Arvid followed her down, leaping clear over the head of one orc to land in the midst of several others and deploy his astral arms. The orcs were mostly successful at evading the initial blast of energy from the arms, but less so when it came to the attacks that followed.
Fergus summoned little Ildiko to harry one of the lieutenants, which it did, biting and clawing with its arms of wood turned to flesh.
Caell's sickening radiance, followed by Sikuaq's fireball and the extant walls of fire, turned the center of the battlefield into a hellish conflagration which consumed several orcs. Garduk was not among them, though he was sufficiently rattled by the fireball to lose his concentration on the spell that held Cora captive.
Valaku slashed again at the yeti, leaving it on the brink of death. Though he did not succeed in killing it, he did turn its attention from Caell. He dodge one swing but took a heavy blow to the chest from the creature's fist. An arrow from the trail below struck the valiant ranger in the shoulder, but he shrugged it off and kept fighting.
The second yeti finished charging up the mountainside and attacked Caell to more devastating effect (
18 to hit for 5 slashing + 1 cold, 20 to crit 11 slashing + 5 cold).
Cora snapped out of her hallucination to find herself surrounded by orcs. Her soldier's instincts spared her the worst of their blows, so that only two axe swings nicked her (
19 to hit for 7 slashing damage, 23 to hit for 9 slashing). The orcs who dared strike her was immediately punished by a shock of cold from her magical armor.
The yeti fighting Opalia hit her with another blast of its icy breath.
23 cold damage. A DC 15 Con save will halve to 11.
Garduk's last standing lieutenant lashed out in fury at the bear who had attacked her, causing dark boils to appear on its skin.
Little Ildiko must make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw. The target takes 9d8 necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
An orcish warrior charged through the flames to land a vicious swing on Arvid (21 to hit for 16 slashing), while several archers took pot shots at the Northman who'd leapt into their ranks (two hits on AC 23 for 11 and 12 piercing).
Arvid may take an opportunity attack against the one who moved out of range.
Finally, Garduk himself emerged, disappearing into the shadows and reappearing on the face of the far cliff. He cast a spell at the Northman as well, though no one else could see its effects.
Arvid must make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the target becomes frightened for the duration. At the end of each of the target’s turns before the spell ends, the target must succeed on a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw or take 5d10 psychic damage. On a successful save, the spell ends.
Whew! Lots of moving parts here, thanks for your patience. Just to clarify some of the shenanigans here, Garduk has Misty Step as a legendary action, and the melee orcs have aggress (I forgot to use it last round) which gives them extra movement.
Everyone can act now, and Cora is no longer affected by the spell from last round.
Brigha has 2 successes and no failures, despite rolling at disadvantage this round while Garduk rolled flat.
