Route 104

The air feels fresh after the showers of last night. It seems like the sky emptied itself, leaving few clouds over you as you walk on a road cutting through a wide plain. The forest of Argenvers are always in sight to the north, but the south is nothing but a field of green, with a few mountains on the horizon.

After maybe three hours of walking, Phoebe points ahead of you. "Hey... there's a kid over there."

Route 104

Jake felt a bit nervous about the ATB thingy that the police were doing, but it didn't stop him from being glad to get out of the small town and into... the wilderness. Frankly, he wasn't sure how much better the wilderness was than the small town. At least it wasn't in a forest or a swamp.

When Phoebe spotted the other kid, he was curious, looking to see if the kid was approaching or if they were following him,
"Ya think he is a trainer? I wouldn't mind a quick match to loosen me up. After all the spooking yesterday, it might be fun to let loose."

Seymour had spent most of the last few hour walking next to his new Gogoat, and occasionally practicing riding on its back. But his mind was still largely distracted by the events of the previous night.

So when Phoebe mentioned the kid, it took him a while to snap back to reality and spot them. "A battle could be fun," agreed Seymour. "I'll cheer you on if the kid accepts your challenge. You know, if they are a trainer."

Phoebe frowns. "I don't know... he looks a bit young for that..."

As you get closer, you get a better look at the boy. He looks really young, no more than eight, with curly blond hair, and wears a red t-shirt and blue shorts. He's just standing by the side of the road, and looking toward the mountains.

Even as you get near him, he doesn't seem to notice you. He just stand there, looking in the distance.

Seymour shot Jakey and Phoebe a worried look. "What's that little kid doing way out her on his own?" He glanced around for any signs of adults, but approached the kid regardless.

When he was a dozen or so paces away, he said, "You okay buddy? You lost? Do you see something out there?" He tried to see what the kid was looking at.

Jake thrust his hands into his pockets and approached the kid too.  But he didn't pay much attention to the kid, Seymour already had that part handled. He looked out to where he thought the kid might be looking.  He briefly considered trying to recruit this kid into his new gang of Seymour and Phoebe, but he didn't want to gang to grow to quick to fast. That usually ruffled some feathers of the old guard.

It takes a moment before the child turns to look at you. "They broke it..." He points into the tall grass.

Looking where he's pointing, you can just make out that an area of grass is pushed down, though you can't see by what from the road.

Seymour's brow wrinkled. "What have they broken? Who broke what?" He looked toward Phoebe to see if she knew what the kid was talking about, since she was native to the region. Regardless, Seymour planned to head closer for a better look. He would hop atop his Gogoat for a slightly better view above the grasses.

It's hard to make out, but it looks like there's some sort of fallen pole in the grass.

Jake waited a moment to see if the kid would elaborate, but given he didn't seem interested in explaining himself, Jake strutted over to the grass to inspect and pick up the pole so he could show the others without them needing to wade into the grass.
