Since this isn't established House wise upon creation I'm allowing you to take the Status for free with a twist. You will need to buy this with experience so still consider position in House wisely. Just thought this would be the fairest way to do things all things considered.

Also I will be out for a few days. I should be back on Mon or Tues. Sorry on this but the PG&E are shutting off power in our area due to high winds.(swear it's getting anoying.)

Should probably add the rest of the players to the game before we decide for sure what house we want.

Agreed. Standing by to see what others think, but was also leaning towards Connington.

My hot-take

Connington: Moderate
Con:The Stormlands are weaker than the Vale, Westerlands and Riverlands, which are reckoned to be able to muster 45000 men [the Stormlands are thought to muster 35000].
Con: You can expect Renly and Cersei to try to overthrow you, and they're two of the most charismatic people in the setting, with Tywin's support, who is the most strategic/powerful.
Pro: You can rely on some support from a range of loyal houses and have good standing in king's landing.

Darry: Hard
Con: The Riverlands are going to suffer grievously in any civil war scenario, putting you on the front lines of every conflict.
Con: The Tully legacy looms over you: cousins may one day seek to regain their lands and titles, with Lysa and Catelyn posing the obvious risks.
Con: With a range of upstarts, belligerents and Tully loyalists in the Riverlands, your lands are likely to be tumultuous.
Pro: You can rely on good standing with the crown, having shown unwavering loyalty in the past.

Rhoyce: Easy
Con: Littlefinger is lurking about, probably.
Con: Your House seems to have inherited the Protector of the Vale title by default, and your house lacks a close relationship with the crown.
Pro: Your lands are easily defended, and you lack rivals within the Vale, giving you an excellent defensive position.
Pro: Lysa's bloodline will inherit strong claims and significant sympathy within the Riverlands, if the Darry's can be undermined at court.

From a purely roleplaying perspective, I'd really like to throw our might behind House Greyjoy. Win the tournament, marry the princess, and let the other houses come begging. We'd be defensible, own the sea, and be able to strike the coastlines while whatever alliances we make concern themselves more with inland battles. Just my two cents though.

Sounds good. Now will point some reasons why Stormlands and Connington can be a good fit(just ideas but again its all up to you guys).

Jon Connington and Rhaegar are close friends. This alone gives them aid should they need it.

The Stormlands: There are a few stories that can be had. Now yes, these can all be had elsewhere. as well though easier in Stormlands.

Now if you have(think it's the campaign guide) there is also the Riverlands and a few of the lands mentioned there.

The Greyjoys: Though like it , it would require Robb to change. Keep in mind Theon is still a ward of House Stark. Not sure why then why Robb would be at the Greyjoys.

Another idea, though you wouldn't be the major house would obviously be  the Westerlands. There you would have allies, and intrigue as well.

Again it's all up to you.

I canreally care less myself. I can adapt my character to any setting. I mean afew game things would be harder depending on the where but I can make do.

As for the tourney, Dany Lionsbane sounds just right:0

Oh, and going through pics, why is Brienne with the males? Seems an insult to the fine lady.

I feel likewise.

My poeronal feelings would be set it outside an area that was done a lot in the show or books. Why wouldn't want the north or really the Riverlands myself.

Another idea, is of course the ideal of Dragonstone. If Kaegan wants a Greyjoy could be one is fostering or a ward to the Targaryens.

Just thoughts.

As for Brienne, it does seem an insult at that. Typical though, a woman who is strong some can't handle.

Connington is perhapsthe best balance of interesting/new/manageable. Characters in an Ironborn setting need to be prepared to RP a pretty savage pirate/viking culture.

A whole host of wards in King's Landing/Dragonstone might be fun, if players are willing to go that route.

Is Jon Connington the Lord Paramount of the Stormlands, or was he just the Regent until Renly came of age?

If Robert lost spectacularly at the trident the whole Barathion line could have been removed from the Stormlands.  How far away from the core path we want to push this one will impact a lot of details.

I'm all for moving as far away as possible from the canon core path, since it will reduce the number of complicated discussions around who owns what and who has sided/should side with who. If we say Robert's defeat shook everything up, the GM can reset the pieces wherever he wants to create our own version of events, which may be more fun and easier for us as players.

I can see two possibilities that might work out to help us establish a House.

Two in a way stand out with a thrid being the Conningtons.

House Royce: This really would be an easy path to establish. Also Robb fostering at the Vale would in some ways probably put Ned and even Catelyn at ease. Since Lyssa is there and all. Also gives a possibly strong foe or ally in Littlefinger perhaps. I'm sure it can create a few story arcs as well. So a lot of possibilities.

The other and just throwing this out there. House Baratheon. From what is in intro or whatever Cersei and Renly are married and thye have children. But being this is a what if, does this mean they are the only Baratheons.  I mean I guess Stannis is at the wall possibly even Lord Commander(he is a strong leader type). But what if there are others. This could lead to becoming allis with Renly and Cersei.

Granted the wards idea could work but not for myself. I could be in King's Landing but not as a ward. As we progress you'll understand why. I jusst know I plan on being in the tournament.

Though to help Gm and also get game going perhaps we should vote on a setting and majority wins. Granted there is one more idea though not sure if Gm wants to go that route. THe Game of Thrones style they s,emtopmed om bppl/ Wjeere we are s[read arpimd a few Jpises/

A last possibility would be the Starks. By now Ned more than likely has proven himself time and again to Rhaegar as loyal. Maybe it is time to return Robb home. Or the North in general as there  is a lot of space for a new AHouse to be built.

If needing to plac e a vote here's my top ones. The top being the one I vote for.

The Vale as members of House Royce.

2. Stormlands with either Connington or Baratheon.
3.Just cause I brought it up House Stark.

Anyone hear from the GM lately? It's been a week since he or she's logged in. Just wondering if this was still a thing or if we should be quietly moving on. :)

I'd really like to know who's all left. I had let you guys talk on startig house, sadly, doesn seem  to have worked.

If it has to I will make the decision myself.

If not, and the game dies, I may try anohter to help save it.

Maybe get a head count. See who is left go from there.

Also, an idea, is if can't decide on this as far as House, have mroe than one.

I'm lucky in that my character is adaptale to any.

Another idea, is, if we are staring around this tourney, then why not, start in King's Landing. gives us time to come up with a House. Granted we need this for sigil but it will be an option.

SInce you all have stated, or mjority said, you don't care on where we are as for location I have an idea.

There are three listed in the Campaign Guide. As a Narrator/GM this would give me options as well.

Depending on which one can give you options on houes.

All three are located in the Riverlands, but no need to be banners of House Tully or ruling House. You could even be banners of House Targaryen if you wanted.

For a Greyjoy esques atmosphere there is Port Maril(one I can recall best) which could even be a Greyjoy house or the like.

If you like the ideas I will present each to you.

For House you have the option of being an Older  House, or perhaps a newer one that sprung up after the war.
