Itinerant Raven (or, more usually, just "
Raven") is a
Beowulf class (Type A) free trader, constructed by Ling Standard Products at their Rhylanor facility in 1075, with her completion date listed as 241-1075. The original build had two single turrets, mounted with lasers, but in 1105 the ship docked at Mora for annual maintenance and had these replaced with two triple turrets, each bearing a laser/sandcaster/missile combination.
With smaller fuel tankage and less passenger staterooms than the
Marava class, the Beowulf is able to carry considerably more cargo than its main rival, although at a cost in terms of endurance. The reduced endurance is mitigated, somewhat, by the ability to skim fuel and purify a full load in 24 hours, meaning that the ship is able to operate in areas where refined fuel is difficult to obtain.
Apart from the Captain's quarters, which also serves as an office, all crew staterooms contain two bunks, allowing for double occupancy, if required. Passenger staterooms are single occupancy only.
