Sweet! I posted but happy for feedback. I envisage the dwarfs as being orangutan like but more muscular and most of the hair around their face and head. I

Re: Out of Character Chat
Decided to put a knowns NPC list up.

Istvan: I wasn't sure about Yoska's gender since there's no gendered pronouns describing them. Is Yoska a he, she or them? If it's ambiguous that's cool too, say it to me in a private line then, so that I know how to role-play her/him/them.

Grunter: Is the "Thane" in Thane Goldnose a name or a title?

EDIT: Because additional questions.

...So I should roll 1d20 again, just in case it does better?

IF that is the case, no harm in trying, I guess. I'll roll now, presuming that's the case.

16:49, Today: Istvan rolled 10 using 1d20 ((10)).

Well, so much for that.

Re: Out of Character Chat

Hmm, I think I'll have Istvan examine the exterior, looking for:

1. Any other entrance

2. Any chinks in the outside that might let him peek inside and get a preview of what's in there

3. Any footsteps or tracks (especially if they lead inside or are coming from inside...)

Would you say that would be a WIS or an INT check, to possibly notice and/or find such things...?

Oh, these kind of things you can just post in the actual session thread. Keeps it all nice together. What you character does isnít really out of character after all, right?

It depend how he does it, really. Is he using logic and reason, applying learned knowledge (int) or is he trying to use common sense, experience and instinct. (wis). It all depends on description.

Re: Out of Character Chat
It's only important if we'll make it important :)

Feel free to pick it. You can either pick one that relates to your character's personality or character type or not. It's up to you. Followers of Noric might think it is, others might not. We have not established it to be true or not yet. If it becomes vital we'll make rules about it, but at the moment it's not important. I just was inspired and knocked that out slightly based on names of our months and days, but not entirely, and the Zodiac itself just has as many cycles as the Chinese one, but the likeness ends there. I made them kind of reflect the twelve moons a bit, but that's all.

In the year of The Gathering Chipmunk, Istvan was born during the Moon of Doors. It was a†Moonsday.

Sweet! Feel free to put it on your character sheet. I'm gonna wait with posting until the weekend to see if Grunter shows up again, but so far they haven't logged in since nov 21 I think. If he stays away for a month he'll become a type of hireling.

Re: Out of Character Chat

For familiar, Istvan rolled the ladybug swarm.

What can they do?

Can they communicate with him, since they're his magical familiars?

Can they, or some of them, go look around inside the dome, and report back?

Does it hurt Istvan if some of his ladybugs die?

Or are they, just, like, his pets, and don't really do anything...?

It doesnít specify, so Iíll have to make a ruling. But my first question then is: What do you think a familiar is/entails? I will probably answer with a yes. Depending on how wild you want to go, it might be a ďyes, butĒ where I limit it somewhat, but generally things should be okay to suggest.

Basic definition, I would say "a mage's familiar is an animal, creature, or other non-human-being that helps a mage, especially with the mage's magical activities, sometimes including offering advice."

Re: Out of Character Chat
That seems fair. When you want to use the familiar, Iíd say, describe what you want it to do and just roll a d20. Iíll decide what stat it needs to roll under when I read it. (rolling beforehand to try and avoid having to wait on just me telling you what to roll under. If you think it falls under a specific stat or you have a specific stat you want to try and roll under you can try to make your case beforehand in the same post. I will then keep it into consideration. I will avoid arguing about the outcome afterwards to keep a slow paced game going, but if you have questions you can ask afterwards to try and clear things up incase the same kind of situation comes up again.

Makes sense to me...

...So does it hurt Istvan in any way if some of his bugs get hurt, though...?

I thought maybe they might have a mental bond... he might see what they see... but if some bugs die, that could be a problem...

Hmmm... probably depending on what happens, but most likely not. Maybe on a critical fail. But I feel like losing (part) of your familiar is already punishment enough.

Hmm... so we haven't found any other entrance, and the one entrance we've found is got a Pit Plant at it.

How big is the Pit Plant's trap door? Can we jump over it, or step around it, or...??

Iíd say that itís slightly bigger than a large manhole cover. Definitely jumpable. Especially when not weighed down by anything. You wonít need to roll, neither does your hired help, except for grunter, with all his armour. Heís the only one that will require to roll, should he jump.

Hm. Any boards or anything around that we can lay down over it...?
