It is just off the side - right hand down the main road, roughly 50 yards from the townhall. So if you exit out the door, you can see the townhall easily. The inn/tavern, is just across, slightly closer to the gate out. So moving about is easy and quickly done.

As Jareik is inside, the only one doing lonewolf stuff is Arkamir. The rest are assumed gathered.

Quick heads-up: out of town for the weekend camping with my daughter.  Back Sunday night or Monday, probably won't be able to post much/at all.

Us 3 are moving to the stables.

Given the size of the town, you will catch a glimpse of the group just shy of the town hall, as the bath house is close by it. As they have likely moved a tad out of sight for now or to the inn or stable, you can assume meeting up - after Arkamir appeared.
If you need to me elaborate on this, then do advise - I will update with a clear direction tomorrow morning if needs be. Sorry for the confusion.

Don't suppose there is any kind of mechanical benefit, or even acknowledgement, of a shield wall?

I doubt beyond the rule of cool of a heavily armed/armoured knight moderately armed/armoured dwarf and lightly armoured woman with remnants of facepant storming a position while two people behind shot arrows and a mustachioed soldier takes out a giant sword

Well, we are kind of already doing it how I would if there were no explicit mechanics. The shield bearers block the way with full defense actions while people with reach or range strike over them lol.
