Can I try to fail another casting roll to set them on fire!? I promise I will fail it too!

..or summon something that you did not intent to.
But yes - since they are not technically dead dead - you need to roll :)

Re: OoC - Out of Character Thread

Is the fire thing common knowledge?

Also, would dousing them in oil and lighting them up work if magic fails? I have some lamp oil...

It would give them fire damage. And as of such if they do not recover I would argue it would work.

As for common knowledge...thats a tough one, but I'd argue a hard knowledge empire may have brought something akin to a rumor etc leading a likely plan around fire being used.

Re: OoC - Out of Character Thread

Back in the beginning of the fighting did a general knowledge test to see if I knew anything about trolls, I assume albion has many of them.

Re: OoC - Out of Character Thread

Well not my call but i'd figure for most of us, trolls being weak to fire is very common knowledge to the point it makes an rp statement if your character doesn't know it, namely that they were likely raised in isolated or noble settings and fed romantic stories of knights one shotting monsters to save fair maidens as opposed to hanging out with hunters, soldiers, etc trading stories full of grisly details and generally living the rough life with the lower classes who are routinely in contact with such hazards.

Trolls are a relatively common monster and found all over the old world+ are routinely employed by greenskins and norscans, and their regen is one of the most infamous things about them along with their acid.
Now being knowledgeable enough to know ALL varieties of trolls and what makes them different to each other? That might be trickier and more specialised knowledge, so i'd expect jareik to be acquainted with river trolls (the ones we are currently facing) but probably not stone trolls since those live in the mountains.

If we ever encounter a troll hag, likely we would think it's just a particularly big troll or maybe it's just how female trolls are, only to be shocked when she starts casting spells because we didn't know trolls were capable of that as most trolls are really stupid.

And yes, albion has a lot of trolls if i recall! Tbh more i think about it, more Etain is likely the one most familiar with trolls and giant type creatures since how could you have grown up on albion not knowing about those?

Re: OoC - Out of Character Thread

I'll have a post out later today but wanted to chip in slightly.

In agreement on the common knowledge bit and this leaves aside that dwarfs eat the damned things too. Knowing how to kill a natural thing tends not to need much of a thought to it. Knowing the specifics of its biology, speciation, and the lot? That more delves into a knowledge check to speak about it like a scholar rather than a bunch of soldiers, knights, and warriors that either have some experience or specialty training.

Re: OoC - Out of Character Thread

For the record, Cecla won't oppose any help but she did basically just charge the river to a safeish depth to start getting the vomit off her lol.

Or at least dilute it enough that it's rendered mostly harmless. Triage kinda goes from there.

For reference, if it helps, the other wagon assuming normal pace is roughly 5-10 minutes ahead of you. So nothing out of the world and easily caught upto if needs be.

Aside from my horse, do we have any other horses? Because if not, I'll ride ahead and tell the wagon to wait for everyone to catch up.

I'd rather smell like the stew you can make out of them. :P

I know, terribly ungracious of me as the recipient of a gift lol.

Also towards the rest of the party, I vaguely recall some talk of storing on the wagon or the like? I'd just left most of my kit and the like notated in inventory for tracking.

Seems fair lol. She's upset about any damage to her hair but not genocidal grudge... Not that dwarfs aren't already trying to remove trolls and all manner of green skin from the world anyway.

Do I need to put in a small stop so you can buy your first book of grudges?

"Babies First Book of Grudges" also happens to be the top selling dwarven baby board book for several centuries running.
