Since we have at least one player now, this seems in order. Talk about anything you want, as long as it doesn’t infringe on the general maturity rating!

Hi so right now I have one or two 'traits' for characters but no real setting ideas. I was thinkng maybe we could all go down the space exploration route borriwing ideas from, say, Red Dwarf, Hyperdrive or The Orville. The neat idea about this is if we syart with the universe being largely 'unexplored' we can make new stuff up as we go along.

As for character concepts how about a 'reverse telepath' Instead of reading minds, he/she/it broadcasts their thoughts constantly, regardless of how innapropriate / offensive these thoughts may be (obviously they don't get invited to many parties).

I sort of getting the feeling for once I am not the only British person in this game.

And I like idea of us being Star Cops.
Send out solve odd and silly crimes in the universes.
It would give structure and purpose to the game.

Also remember anything could be crime on a different worlds so load to cover.

It’s a cool idea, but we’re not quite at characters yet, so we’ll cross that bridge when we get there, but it should be doable I think. This system isn’t as flexible for silly character ideas as say... fate or risus, but we’ll see where we get. Let’s first see what kind of game we want to run. Feel free to brainstorm in the session 0 thread about game ideas!

For those with more experience in the system than I have: what are your thoughts on the optional rules for Aliens and Virtual Intelligences? Are they needed for us to play our type of silly game or is just treating everyone as a "human" with a different flavor enough? So far this is mainly for The Ricepudding. But others might want to play non-humans as well.

It all seems rather straightforward, so if wanted, I'll allow it.

Well for ease of game I can fit into the human box.

However as we develop there maybe thing Ricepudding can do that other cannot.
Like slide under doors or expend his arms, nick or legs.
But we can talk about that and see what make sense.

It would have to be a skill like exert i think.

We'd have to silly it up a bit, but it's an example of what we might be going for. As for silly stuff from it: I'n another video from the album there's a spaceship shaped like an electric guitar!

the entire album/anime is watchable here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...lX50xxG&index=16

If the GM is not happy with my post he can change it as I have taken a few liberties with the post.  (hope you like it however).
But as this is the background to the game I hope that ok.  It does set thing up nicely for my character and back up by good role.

Oh and I think that the Ricepudding would not be a member of the planned crew at moment.  As he just arrive on the plant  / in the universe.  So Ron you may want find a way of getting him on board. :)

:- having The Ricepudding like only been in existence for a day open up so much fun for the game which I happy for you two to have fun with (At The Ricepudding expense).

Re: Chatroom

The Ricepudding: I think this is quite okay. I'll probably post guidelines on liberties with NPC's and scenes when I have a good think about it, because a bit more freedom than usual will help with keeping the game/story moving without asking and waiting for permission and stuff. Play by post is slow as it is.

Captain Ron: What a smooth guy! I love it.

I'll probably have a think about a reply and will try to write one before the weekend. The weekend is gonna be busy.

Also, having reviewed the rules a bit, there are some clarifications. The Ricepudding. 1XP, wasn't enough to level (it's 3XP to go to level 2.) so I'm afraid you couldn't have spent the XP to gain Teleportation. Also, you don't have to roll for using psychic abilities. You need to spend effort. I think you have the rules yourself. You should read up on Psionics, especially page 30 and 31. They deal with using skills and spending effort and calculating the amount of effort you have. Now, I think, looking at your character sheet, that you have mastery, which means that for your core skill you don't need to spend effort, so in this case no effort is being spent. The only thing you should have rolled normally, is the d6 for healing. But since this is basically a cutscene, that wasn't even needed.

I'll also try to set up a thread/topic/post thing with custom ways to gain XP. I'll try and have that up at the same time as the next post.

Re: Chatroom

Just my luck.  Rolled well and did not need to.

Was not sure about Psionics needing rolls or not.
I rolled just in case I needed to.  Seemed odd that other skilled needed it but nothing said to for Psionics.

Everything else make sense and yes I did know about 1d6.
However I thought was bit pointless.
Also yes I do not use effort for my healing at moment.

All good here then :)

Re: Chatroom

I played in another system what has xp goals, it is super hero based and works well.

May I suggest.

STANDARD GOAL: When you host or run a party at a new location, earn 1 XP (for the entire crew).
MAJOR GOAL: ??? earn 3 XP
PERSONAL GOAL: Write a goal for your character to complete during the game. You get one goal which will earn you XP.
MAJOR PERSONAL: ??? earn 3 XP

The major ones should be something big.
Like getting a plants to join the federation of party plants.
The Ricepudding meeting someone that has actually met his sister.
Captain Ron saving another spaceship from destruction.

Just an idea.

And yes I will take your suggestion as my personal goal as just fit so well.

In reply to The Ricepudding (msg # 44):

I was thinking about that as well, but seeing as we're a weekly posting forum game, major goals would take an insane amount of time playing to get to them, so I'm content for now to focus on just two goals. I might include/unlock different goals as we play and meet people. They would probably be quests and stuff.

Re: Chatroom

Well if everybodies happy to go with what I have done this could be fun.

So I suggest that in Captain Ron memory he worked along side The Ricepudding one or two times.  The Ricepudding being drafted in as medical worker.

This way you are open to write what you like (with in reason).
The Ricepudding has no memory of this and far as he can remember he only 37 days old.
What the true reality of this is, is well that like loads of things:- up for debate.

It also mean GM can introduce all sorts of thing to do with The Ricepudding past without any problem.  Old friends, old enemy and whole area of rp this game will  avoid as this game is PG and not M or A rated.

As far as I see this just added depth to the game and allows you two some extra fun.

Re: Chatroom

Err guys I just reading the rules and like we make big mistake.

The dice should be 2d6 not 1d20 (+skill level, +GM adjustment).

Skill Check Difficulties

6 A relatively simple task that is still more than
the PC would usually be expected to manage
in their regular background. Anything easier
than this isn’t worth a skill check.

8 A significant challenge to a competent professional
that they’d still succeed at more often
than not.

10 Something too difficult to be expected of
anyone but a skilled expert, and even they
might fail.

12 Only a true master could expect to carry this
off with any degree of reliability.

14+ Only a true master has any chance of achieving
this at all, and even they will probably fail.

I suggest we go with what we done but change to right dice.
(I am totally new to this system0.

Hah, so far that seems to be how it goes! Should we let you roll the d20 again? ;-)
This being more like a sci-fi sitcom than a survival game I’ll usually be pretty mild with the consequences of rolls, but still. Maybe we can see if this bad luck keeps up and introduce a house rule for doing stuff. Maybe something along the lines of “once per episode you can automatically succeed at (something character specific)”. At least your niche of psionics works with effort, which succeeds automatically most of the time.
