STARDATE 48174.26 - Jouret IV

Kate nods slightly at Jason and smiles at Dr. Brenn. "Forgive Ensign Walker, I'm sure he's just taking an active role in a part of the briefing we got before our arrival.  I'm sure you understand Dr. Brenn that outside parties likely have considerable interest in these devices, both to prevent us from developing this technology, and to gain it for themselves." Kate states calmly as she looks at Jason, having expected him to want to wait until after we'd have our briefing before wanting to inspect the devices personally or anything like this.

In reply to Katherine Seward (msg # 18):

Jason nodded to Kate's explanation. "There isn't a immediate rush on this," he said, taking the hint. He was concerned with the security of the devices but didn't seem inclined to demand to see things now since Kate appeared to have things handled.

Alex looks at Commander Geary, "Sir, I must have misheard, did you say Commander Laurent?" Clearly concern painting his face, he was feeling a bit disheartened if the new Commander was having a mental lapse. Alex walks closer to Cmdr. Geary to observe him for signs of being unwell, or worse, being unfit.

Thani stares at Chief Engineers Blatt's face as her's gets closer to get his attention, her antennae pointed directly at Blatt's face. "Chief, are you okay? Science is good. You want to talk science?"

Looking up from his padd at the andorian, "oh, um, everything thing fine." Smiling, "I've been looking over these designs and well, they are most elegant."  he paused, realizing what she had actually said, "oh, sorry, Commander, The science is really good.  and yes, I'd be glad to talk science with you at any time."

In reply to Alex Dupont (msg # 20):

Looking up at the doctor, "Yes Dr. Dupont I did."  Seeing the doctor walk over, Gear typed a message on his padd with one word, HONEYPOT, and showed it to him.

Looking over at Dr. Brenn, "Please excuse my misunderstanding, Doctor, but did Star Fleet not give you the specifications of a Sabre Class Star Ship?"

In reply to Decker Geary (msg # 23):

"No, they neglected to," Brenn sniffed.  "I don't need your secrets, I just wanted to know your sensor fidelity and shield capacity so I could place the ship as close as possible without risking its safety.  As I plan on being on it during the test, I have no interest in putting it in jeopardy.  I suppose the general specification will suffice, if you would be so kind."

In reply to Dr. Brenn (msg # 24):

"I do apologize, Dr. Brenn. I shall get that rectified for you." He was satisfied he got under the tarkaran's skin, hopefully it would cause him to slip upand expose what he is hiding.

Looking over at the Chief engineer, "Chief Blatt, Would you be so kind as to transmit to Dr. Brenn the specifications of a Sabre Class Star Ship so he can compare it to his own findings?"

In reply to Decker Geary (msg # 25):

Hearing his name, he held up his hand to Thani, "Pardon me."  Looking over at the curly haired officer, "Yes commander, I will transmit the data right now." Then he quickly typed on his padd and sent the official Star Fleet published information for the general viewing.

Hearing that Walker was going to go look at the prototypes, "Walker, um, Specialist Walker, mind if we tag along?"  Then turning to Thani, "Want to go look at the prototype, check it against the plans?"

Jason tilted his head slightly to Kate. "I will return since the Doctor is so kindly allowing access to the devices ma'am." He gave a nod to Ru'Gal before halting at the voices behind him. He turned to Bart and and then tapped his collar.

"It's Ensign now, sir," he said with a brief grin at his friend which faded as his gaze moved to Thani when she touched Bart's hand. "Of course, you and Commander sh'Elliaph are welcome to join me," he said with a nod, voice even and professional.

He turned back to Ru'Gal and offered a faint smile. "Thank you for your paitence. Please show us the devices."

In reply to Jason Walker (msg # 28):

"This way, please," Ru'Gal said as he led Jason and the others out of the conference room and into another lab space.  Inside, another Takaran stood lowering a housing over one of two assemblies recognizable as warheads to Mark IV photon torpedoes, the other already finished.  "Excuse me," Ru'Gal said to the technician, "but these people are from Starfleet to examine the prototypes."

Glancing back at Jason and anyone who had followed, he added, "You may conduct non-intrusive examinations of the warheads, but please do not do anything that might accidentally trigger them as I would prefer not to be blown up."

Looking at the insignia on Walker's uniform, and being a bit embarrassed at not noticing the before, "Congratulations!  Can't think of anyone else that deserves a promotion more.  Afer we are done here, we'll need to celebrate."

The touch on his hand startled as he instinctively pulled away.  Guessing that social touching must be an Andorian trait, he put no meaning behind the touch. "As you know, the photon torpedo is basically..." As he explains some of the history of torpedoes.

Excited to see the workings of this new weapon, responding to Ru'Gul, "I will absolutely be careful."  Careful not to touch anything as he did a sight inspection on the device, "Any idea on how long Dr. Brenn has been developing the torpedo?"

He nodded to Bart. "Thank you. At least I can now legally be in the officer's mess and lounge." He grinned at the newly promoted Chief. "And since you were made Chief, double celebration?" Though it was said with a little bit sadness considering how Bart was promoted to Chief Engineer.

While Bart explained things to Thani, Jason got a closer look at both devices. He dredged up what little he knew about their workings with some information being added by Bart's words.

"I do not see anything to cause concern in either device," he said to Thani and Bart.

A good once over was given to the room the devices were in and the people in the room, mostly out of curiosity but some of it was concern for security. The problems and points of contention that he might see.

Captain's Log - Supplemental

The reports by the away team have left me with misgivings.  Brenn appears to be either highly anxious or engaged in some form of subterfuge.  Left to my own devices, I might consider stopping the test until I figured out which is the case, but Starfleet is eager to see the results of the test and I have no solid grounds to delay the test.

Because of the sensitive nature of the prototype, I'm sending Lt. Keyes, Chief Blatt, Lt. Cmdr sh'Elliaph and Ensign Walker's security team on a shuttle to the station to safely bring up the first warhead and take it to the designated test site.  There, they will attached the warhead to a derelict freighter where they will rendezvous with the Mihoshi at approximately 100,000km away.  Transporters would certainly be quicker, but Starfleet will indulge me if I don't want it one on my ship just yet.

Vanna cracked her knuckles before taking a seat in the pilot's chair onboard the shuttle Farah had assigned for the mission.  She glanced over the readouts while waiting for everyone to load onboard and then notifies the bridge that they are departing.  She happily launches and reorients herself with the station bringing the ship about in a slow orbit of the station before diving in toward the shuttle bay.

In the situation room with Captain Greene, "Captain, Lt. Keyes and Cheif Blatt can can transport secure the warhead to the freighter, along with a couple of crewman.  They can take their time getting it to the freighter.  Hopefully we can get back to the station and see if we can figure out what Dr. Brenn is hiding."  Pausing for a moment, and then smile coyly at Captain Greene, "And they should take every precaution in the transport, don't want to go too fast in case the warhead is too unstable to handle transport." Taking a more serious tone, "And in the meantime perhaps we can have Ms. Seward interview people on the station to ferret out what Dr.  Brenn might be hiding."
