STARDATE 48174.29 - USS Mihoshi Conference Room

Resting his elbows ont he table and leaning forward, "Ra'Ghul, I will take you at your word that you would never betray your people.  Then the question becomes, who are your people?" Pulling up a picture of the destroyed lab and the dead technicians, displaying it on the 3D imaging on the table, "Becasue it certainatly not the Takarans."

Kate gives a slight frown at Ra'Ghul and leaned forward on the table looking at him sadly.  "Look Ra'Ghul, I'd like to think the best of you, we seem to get alone rather well even.  That being said, have you betrayed our trust?  Were either you or Dr. Brenn responsible for those deaths?  Trust is a two-way street, have you betrayed our trust of you? " She glanced at Commander Geary and lt Idrani.

In reply to Katherine Seward (msg # 46):

Already trembling with anger at the accusations, it was Kate's words that smashed the facade.  Ra'Ghul looked at Kate with utter contempt.  "We developed a weapon of such power, only to offer it up as a supplication to the mighty Federation?" he sneered.  "They were the traitors.  They and Brenn..."

He turned to face Geary.  "So no, I didn't conspire with Brenn to sell something that would make Takara a power in the sector for simple money."

Nynev began to laugh, showing contempt of her own.  "Are you kidding me? You each tried to have the weapon for yourselves and didn't know what the other was doing?"

"And here comes the sanctimony that is the Federation," Ra'Ghul said.  He had realized the game was over and no longer wished to play.  "Spare me the sermon and do whatever you will."

Giving the Tarakan a plastic smile as Geary spoke, "More than likely, we will be giving you over to your own government, let them execute justice as they see fit.  And just for the record, Who was your contact in the Duress family and what did they promise you?"

Walker to Lt zh'Idrani? Did you catch that all? I can't see a reason for him to steal a weapon unless he thought the Romulans would attack his home world. I can certainly agree neither knew what the other was doing. Is there anything I am missing here?

Jason wanted to know why Brenn would steal the plans for the weapon and for what purpose. He had to be missing some parts of the whole.

Ra'Ghul looked at Geary like he was an idiot.  This was the dominant power of the quadrant?  "Did you not listen to a thing I said?" he jeered.  "I said I had nothing to do with the Klingon attack.  Why would I involve Klingons if my goal was to keep the weapon for Takaran supremacy?"

"Bridge to Geary," Malko said over their comms.  "We've arrived just outside the Birds' sensor range.  We're picking up three birds, decloaked and stationary.  Two are in a defensive position around the third, which is emitting unusual tachyon radiation."

In reply to Jason Walker (msg # 51):

"We're about done here, Mr. Walker," Nynev responded, seeing no need to pursue the matter further and signaling the two guards outside to take Ra'Ghul into custody.  "I'm holding Ra'Ghul on murder charges and we'll be placing Brenn under arrest for the attack on the Mihoshi and conspiring with known enemies of the Federation and Klingon Empire.  For now, let's leave the matter be and focus on recovering the prototype."

Nodding to Indrani, "See if you can get information from Brenn, like what his deal with the Klingons was, who is contact is, and can we deactivate the device from here."

Walking out the door he pressed his comm, "Geary to Chief Blatt, Commander sh'Elliaph, and Ensign Walker, Please join me in the captain's ready room."

Walking a little further, he pressed his comm once more, "Computer, go to Yellow Alert"

He entered the turbo lift, "Bridge."  He could feel the slight pull against the artificial gravity while he straightened and smoothed out his uniform. Stepping off the lift, "Commander Malko and Lt. Keyes, please join me in the ready room. Lt. Res, you have the bridge.  We shouldn't be more than 5 minutes."

Watching everyone come in and take their places, "OK, here is the situation, We have discovered that Ra'Ghul was the one that detonated the torpedo in the lab and thta Dr. Brenn was the one that let the Klingon's know about the test and the other torpedo.  So thanks to our science team we are able to locate and track down the stolen warhead." He brings up a 3D image of the 3 Bird of Prey before continuing, "They are stopped in space, ready for action."
Turning to he trill, "Commander, would you please fill us in on the current situation with the Warbirds?"

Jason arrived and sat down near Lt. zh'Idrani, not sure what to expect since this was very new to him. It took him a moment before he spoke up. "Sir? Duras clan are known collaborators with the Romulans. I doubt the Klingon Empire would approve of this." Then he tried to make himself smaller, as if a well muscled, tall man could ever do that sitting next Nynev.

Thani looks up and looking at the staff decides to use simple terminology, "Commander, if the Birds of Prey are stopped, then the hypothesis from the science team is their cloaking technology does not interact well with the prototype torpedo. I can elaborate further if you need, but they will have problems. I suspect they are desperately trying to fix their oversight."

In reply to Thani sh'Elliaph (msg # 65):

"Whatever the reason, it gave us a chance to catch up," Malko said as he rose.  "That would mean the other two are playing guard duty while the disabled craft makes repairs.  That or they've called for help.  Either way, we can't get much closer without being spotted and I very much doubt they'll be glad to see us.  We can probably take on two Birds, though it'll be a bit rough, but do we want to try to take the device intact or just destroy the third Bird?"

OOC: While perhaps more tactically smart, simply shooting a disabled craft violates Fed regulations and could get them in trouble.

Vanna smiles "First strike option?  Drop out of warp right between the first two Birds and open fire with a salvo of photon torpedos and phaser fire.  Perform a boarding action to capture the Bird of prey with the torpedo, and maybe steal their cloaking device while we're at it?  It wouldn't be a treaty violation would it be Ms. Seward?"

Kate looks awkward at the question. "It might be, but even if it wasn't, I think Mel told me once that the reason the Federation doesn't have cloaking technology is that the variant the Klingons developed was incompatible with our plasma power system or something like that."

"Commander, long range sensors cannot collect that information. That would require short range sensors, which means they would be aware of our presence." Looking around the table, "Adapting cloaking technology, a power source is a power source. Much like the AC and DC with electricity. Converters exist to change the output and wavelengths. Older cloaking technology was incompatible with life. Being exposed to harmful radiation. But the purpose of our mission should be to disable the ships, not slaughter, and recover the prototype. Starfleet gives mercy and uses the technology for the betterment of our member planets. We are a beacon of hope, of enlightenment, not oppression."

"Agreed.  We will return fire if need be.  For the disabled Ship, Im guessing there is no way to determine how much maneuvering it can do or the condition if its crew?  I'm also guessing that the amount of tachyon radiation being emitted makes beaming the torpedo on board pernicious."

Pushing a button on his padd, bringing up an empty view screen, "Dr. Dupont.  Threre is an issue with a Bird of Prey being flooded with tachyon radiation from te test torpedo that was stolen.  Please advise on the risks and exposure limits"
