STARDATE 48174.29 - USS Mihoshi Communications

Kate enters the comm station dressed in her former uniform with the scans from the 'battle' on a PADD and begins to open diplomatic frequencies for the Klingon Empire.  Doing her best to appear dignified and calm as she waits for a response.

In reply to Katherine Seward (msg # 2):

Instead of the High Council as Kate might have expected, appearing on the viewscreen was a Klingon man she would immediately recognized as Lantar, Klingon ambassador to the Federation.  He quirked an eyebrow at Kate, clearly unimpressed by speaking to a young human woman. "Ambassador... Seward, is it?" he asked.  "Why are you trying to contact the Klingon High Council?"

Kate gives a slight bow of her head to Lantar and then politely begins. "Ambassador Lantar, I am contacting you to notify you that three B'Rel class warbirds appear to have crossed into Federation Space and launched a raid near the Neutral Zone.  If you want I have the sensor scans from the brief ambush and am more then willing to forward them, whomever they were they are honorless cowards fleeing a battle when they outnumber the responding force three to one."

In reply to Katherine Seward (msg # 4):

Kate's accusation took Lantar visibly aback and had Kate not immediately offered to send the sensor logs, he might have suggested she was mistaken.  He asked for Kate's proof and she saw his eyes narrowed with angered and let out a stream of invectives the Universal Translator seemed unwilling to translate.  "Where are these bIHnuch?"

Kate forwards the data to Lantar and replies quite happily to his question. "Last we knew, they were heading in the general direction of the Romulan Neutral zone, our warp drive is nearly repaired so we'll be giving chase momentarily. Ambassador.  We believe they may be house Duras ships, however, I'll be the first to say we have not confirmed that yet."

In reply to Katherine Seward (msg # 6):

"Duras...." Lantar growled, fist clenching.  After a moment, he took a breath.  "I appreciate the information, Diplomat Seward, but as you are well aware, Chancellor Gowran branded the Duras clan as traitors to the Empire.  We obviously had nothing to do with this attack on our allies, but aside from that, what would you have us do?  This incident took place in Federation space and we cannot send ships in without formal authorization."

Kate smiles, "I'm just formally informing you of the attack and what we've found so far.  That way your not caught off guard should any more attacks happen or should any diplomatic incidents beyond this happen.  If you can I would appreciate knowing how many ships House Duras still commands, and any known contacts outside Klingon space to give us an idea of how widespread a problem we may be facing is but beyond that just keep an eye open for any more of their ships behaving suspiciously. Ambassador." She gives a respectful bow to her counterpart.

In reply to Katherine Seward (msg # 8):

"We don't know the exact number, other than it is more than three," Lantar replied as he eyed the data again.  "I find it odd they would even attempt such a raid in that sector.  What did they attack?"

Kate frowned slightly but shrugged. "They attacked the Mihoshi, one of our first Sabre Class cruisers, that was being put through its paces on its maiden flight. One of our shuttles was returning from a damaged freighter in the Jouret System, they noted that there was optical distortion from a possible cloaked vessel paralleling their course, and then all three attacked within seconds. Lantar quirked an eyebrow at Kate's explanation, but if he didn't believe her, he didn't challenge her on it.  "I see.  Thank you for informing me, Ms. Seward.  I will advise the High Council and notify you of any developments."
