"Dropping out of warp," Istala said as the crew of the Mihoshi began their part of the plan.

"Lock onto the lead B'Rel, Ms. McKenzie," Geary ordered, unwilling to give the Klingons the chance to consider activating their cloaking devices.  They wouldn't risk their prize being taken, plus there was the always reliable Klingon honor that demanded they fight.

"Locked, sir!" Taylor said as she scanned for the weakest part of their shielding.

"Fire!" Geary said.

"Firing!" Nynev said as she unleashed a pair of photon torpedoes.  The pair struck the lead B'Rel, its shields holding against the first, but not the second.  "Shields weakened.  Forward weapons appear impacted."

"Get on its rear, then," Geary commanded Istala, "and keep the other one off of us, Res."

"Aye, sir," Istala said as she began to put the Mihoshi into a series of evasive maneuvers.  Geary had seen her work them in the holodeck.  Istala Specials.  Faster and more agile, the Mihoshi quickly maneuvered on the lead B'Rel's aft, but keeping the second from getting a steady lock made targeting the first difficult.  For a time, the ships few, the Mihoshi both predator and prey, exchanging volleys with both.  It was a two-on-one fight, but the Mihoshi had more power at her command, able to take more hits to her shields without damage.

"Re-routing auxiliary power to shields and phasers," Nynev said as she prepared for close range combat.  The Mihoshi had superior shielding, but Klingon disruptor cannons had a nastier bite.  Taylor's next scans gave her the opening she had been waiting for.  "Firing phasers!" she exclaimed, and clenched a fist as the shimmery light of the B'Rel's shield disappeared.  "Shields are down!"

"Hang on!" Istala yelled as the second B'Rel struck home.  She had waited a beat to long to give Nynev the best shot and it cost them one hit too many.  "Structural damage in the secondary hull, starboard side!"

"Something's happened by the shuttle!" Taylor called from the Science station as she had been observing the progress of the away team.  "Tachyon waveform expanding!"

As soon as she had spoken the words, the tachyons washed over the Mihoshi.

Before Cat could reply, the first call came into Medbay.  Someone had experienced a hallucination.  Followed by a second, then a third.  Soon enough the entire ship was in an uproar.

Kate's voice comes over the comm after a minute. "This is Katherine Seward, Dr Dupont, Maria appears to be suffering a sensitivity to her sight in response to the wave we just hit, I'll need to speak to Cmdr Geary and Captain Greene as soon as possible as well, the Q appears to have established contact with me during the incident."

"I'm on my way Mrs. Seward." Alex replies, looking at the others. "Nurse Lockhart, advise any who call to stay calm, if they are not injured to continue working, if injured to report to medbay for evaluation if safe to do so, or wait for the med team if unable to come here."

Everyone on the bridge crew had experienced the phenomena, causing confusion everywhere.  Indeed everyone on the ship was affected, perhaps not as badly as the Klingons.  One of the B'Rel's exists only as the remnants of an explosion and the other is gone.  The tachyon effects are substantially greater than before, the shuttles are no longer safe.  The Mihoshi suffered some superstructure damage on the starboard side, Deck 3, but is still fully operational.

CHecking the chornomoter it had only been about 5 minutes since drawing off the guard B'rels, "Geary to all, I'm assuming that we all have experienced some sort of Time Jump.  We will have time to contemplate what we each saw, but right now we have an Away Team that needs our fullest concentration as we are still playing decoy to two B'rels.  For those that are disturbed by what you saw, please seek out the ships councelors afer the crisis at hand.

"One B'Rel is destroyed, the other is gone," Istala said as she looked over her tactical display, still trying to clear her head.

"Nothing on sensors, sir," Taylor concurred.  "If they were in cloak, I'd almost certainly pick up some sort of displacement of the ambient tachyon radiation.  Sir, the field has intensified, but still originates from the disabled craft.  Its strength exceeds the capacity levels of the shuttles' shields."

Inhaling deeply, "Lt. Res, lets go get our people."  Keeping an eye on the screen, "Lt. Taylor, keep an eye out for that missing B'rel.  We don't need it surprising us while we retrieve our people."  He knew in his heart the torpedo was lost. "Tactical, Prepare full spread of torpedoes and phasers, When in range, target the disabled B'rel and prepare to fire on my command."

Turning to face the counselor, "Ms. Seward, I have about 5 minutes.  We can meet in the ready room."

Commander Malko, "You have the bridge.  Inform me where we are about 30 seconds from the shuttles."

Without looking at anyone, he walks to the ready room, offering the door to Kate.  Entering behind her, "Computer open High Priority communication to Captain Green on the Joret station."

Sitting down and facing the monitor, "Now then Ms. Seward, What is your concern?"

Dr. Dupont diverts some orderlies to take stretchers and take the standby nurse over to the Shuttle Bay while he arrived at the Seward's quarters (And apparently only Maria is there, alone.)

Maria had been sitting patiently for Alex to arrive with Bastet keeping her company.  The headache had begun to subside when Alex chimed the door.  Rising, she opened it for him, only to be greeted with a brightness akin to a spotlight directly into her eyes.  Wincing in audible pain, she stumbled back a few steps, then turned to drop to her knees, burying her face in her hands. "Ah!"

Alex rushes to action, Kate had mentioned light and pain, "Mrs. Seward, here something for the discomfort."

Alex will give a mild pain reliever before he scans her.

He was relieved when he passed the hanger bay doors, home at last.  Subconsciously he relaxed.  Stepping off the shuttle he found himself back on Bynus, specifically what they would call a bar.  The Binar's there all sat in pairs.  He listened to the some of the conversation and he still understood most of the conversations.  He walked to the bar and ordered their version of a beer.  He knew it must be a timejump, becasue she still remembered being on the Mihoshi.  Stopping in his track he quickly looked around and quickly spotted the desire of his heart: Tora Pol.  She was a Bajoran, one of the most beautiful he ever met.  And her intelligence surpassed her beauty.  He had alwys been intimidate by her and was always nervous when she entered the room,  During histime on Bynus, he may have spoken to her maybe 5 words in a social setting, though he could hold his own when talking business.  But now he was the Chief Engineer on the Mihoshi, he got this.  He walked up the the black haired Bajoran. With confidence he started to speak, "Hello Tora, I was wondering..."

He then found himself being helped onto one of the med cots, being scanned bythe medical team.

Deckar was watching the shuttles land in the hanger bay and was waiting on the report from the medical team, when a familar voice behind him, "What are you waiting for, Deckar, Throw!" He blinked, standing befor him was Lt. Comander Kyem, An Orion officer stationed on Regulus.  In his hand was the familiar bak-yk ball.  Looking up, he saw the bak-en balls floating in the graviety field. The idea behind Bak was basically Three Diminsional billards.  Deckar was horrible at it. Deckar lined up the shot and threw the Bak-yk and it sailed past the first bak-en and hit the second, whick bounced in to the bak-do and that one went in. Kyen gave out a gutteral whoop, "Now you owe me two bottles of your Earth whiskey."

Then Deckar was back in the readyroom waiting for news that everyone was well.

Jason had just stepped out of the shuttle with the medical team on standby and moving up towards him when the warning came in.

And he was in the dark, a light in the distance and realized it was a street. A click in his ear had him starting and he looked around. "Walker," a hiss from his left had him looking over. There was that idiot Martin Grey. Then it hit him and his gaze darted up only to see a flash and then Martin's yelp and a thud. Jason ducked as another beam just missed his head. He then dived past Martin and tackled their VIP just as another beam narrowly missed.

The young man literally lifted up the VIP and shoved them back as return fire came from the other 3, making the would-be assassin duck out of sight. "Grey's down, marked dead," a soft voice came from behind him. He reached out and helped the VIP up. "Tam, you and Cerna scout ahead to the next street, stay in the shadows." He turned to the VIP. "Sir, I will be your bodyguard. We have to leave Grey behind, ya'll." And then he turned...

... and found himself back on the Mihoshi, blinking at the sudden change and someone stumbled into him. He darted his hand out to steady them without looking. "What the hell just happened?"

Tekar made his way through the Xerxes lower decks with the other crew members.  Wolf 359 was turning into a blood bath, of the initial ships on the battlefield over half of them were dead already.  Glancing out a viewport he saw that Lindenburg being cleanly sliced in half as the beam from the single cube cut through the connection space between the warp nacelles.  Over the comms, he heard the captain announce. "Brace for im" the message was cut off by an explosion that sent a half dozen crewmen flying into the walls.  A nearby panel showed that a portion of the hull including the bridge and about four other compartments around it were free-floating, or debris it was hard to tell exactly from the display.  Key systems were still operational thankfully, although whether that was intentional or just luck he had no idea.  He knew most of the command staff had been at stations on the bridge though.

"I think we are on our own, what do we do against something like that?"   A voice said over the comm badges, someone from engineering he thought but he wasn't sure off the top of his head.  A half dozen voices responded a second later and no one was really sure who was in charge.  After a moment Tekar made a decision making his way toward the secondary bridge, he stepped on knowing what had to be done if the crew was going to survive this cluster fuck.


A second later Tekar was leaning against a wall on the Mihoshi catching his breath off the adrenaline rush.  Some would call his actions a little over ten years ago cowardly, but of the fleet that faced off against that cube, only the Xerces and three other ships had a surviving crew, and they'd all made the same choice, fire everything they had and run.

A thirteen-year-old Kate stared at the man in uniform in the living room.  Curiosity gave way to fear she couldn't quite hear what the man was saying but she could tell by mom's body posture and the moving lips that something wasn't right.  Starfleet never made visits to the Seward home unless dad was showing something new to a superior, or some kind of formal dinner or something.  Dad wasn't here, so a Starfleet officer had no reason to be here.  Realization dawned on her something had happened to dad.

Her eyes darted from mom to grandma and Mel, not sure what to think fully yet.  All of them seemed shocked and distressed.  It didn't take long to figure out what was being said as Mel screamed "NNNOOO!!" and stormed away.  Kate's eyes following as she left with the hidden resentment, anger, and jealousy she'd had for years welling up inside.  This was Mel's fault, she didn't know how or why but it had to be Mel's fault.  Mel must have screwed up in the workshop somehow, or something and now dad paid the price for it.

All thoughts of her accursed nonlinear stellar mechanics equations. and homework was thrown from her mind as she realized what was going on.  Of course, she wouldn't be allowed to vent her frustration at Mel.  In the Seward family, two things were sacred above all else, Family and Loyalty.  She watched as the Andorian got up to leave and again gave his condolences for their loss.  A momentary hateful thought going through her mind as she glares at him from the doorway, what would he know about loss?  She clenched her hands imagining herself striking him in the stomach or mouth she couldn't really be sure which would make her feel better.  Then closed her eyes taking a deep breath and focusing her thoughts as best she could despite the maelstrom swirling within her mind as each thought lead to more and more emotions being triggered, regrets, ambitions, hopes, and dreams shattering in her mind as she knew she'd never been able to have the relationship she wanted with her dad now that he was dead.

Kate made her way in to gently hug her mom and grandma.  She needed to be there for them if nothing else.  Dad was supposed to be coming home in a few weeks, to attend Mel's graduation.  Now everything was ruined, and she couldn't even afford the luxury of being angry at Mel, who's fault it had to have been. She felt her jaw clench slightly at that thought but gently buried her head into her mom's neck and just rocked slightly showing she was there.  The family would get through this, even if she had to push herself to the limit to be there for everyone.  Even Mel....

Thani returns to the present and drops to her knees, tears flooding at the fateful memory...

Jason could see that the rest of them had similar experiences but he wasn't sure what exactly was going on. Seeing Tekar leaning against the bulkhead, the rest of them showing every indication of confusion. That was something that didn't need to happen and he sighed.

With a firm voice, he spoke. "Ok people. Medical staff, check everyone over to make sure they are good. Once your cleared by Medical, head back to your posts, please."

Motion out of the corner of his eye had him turning his head and he stated making his way over. He stopped next to Thani and offered his hand to her to help her get up. He knew better now than to do something unless she wanted it.

Deckar breathed easier seeing that all of the Away team arrived back on the Mihoshi alive. At least something went right, he thought. "Computer send a message to all Heads of stations, The Away Team and Commander Matheson, 'Come to the Captain's Ready room once medical has released you.  This is urgent. Geary out.'"

"Greene to Mihoshi!" Farah called on the terminal to the ready room, the link having been severed.  "Come in Mihoshi!"

Istala blinked away tears as she returned from a much unwanted trip down memory lane.  After glancing around, she looked down at her status monitors and frowned.  "Istala to Geary.  The ship's chronometers just jumped ahead five minutes."

"What the..." As Alex landed back on the floor from the few inches above it he had found himself. "Maria, I don't know what is going on, but you are part of this. I'm sorry to subject you to this, but we need to go together to the ready room. Kate is part of this and we need to come together."

Alex has a duty to answer the command to go to the ready room. He hopes Maria will oblige his request.

"Yes, Doctor," Maria said as she struggled to right herself on the couch, then held out a hand.  "But you'll have to guide me there. At the moment I can't see anything except brightness.  Please make this stop."

"Acknowledged Captain." Geary said as he reconnected the captaion to the readyroom trminal, "Captain, I am bringing in the command staff, the Away Team and CMDR Matheson for a befriefing and strategy meeting.  Anything else you can advise us on?"

Then a feeling, it was like a warm blanket wrapped around her heart a moment, and she started to have an Andorian version of a smile.

Jason nodded. "Welcome. Let's see what the Commander wants. Maybe that will explain all this weirdness." He followed Thani but was distracted by what he had seen/remembered. And when he entered the Ready Room(:P) he found a seat and just settled into it.

Alex arrived leading Maria as a visually impaired person. "If we stay close to Maria the whatever is happening won't pull us into the other versions of reality we seem to all experience, the downside, the ship still moves and you don't."

Thani arrives (with Jason?) and gives a nod to all that are already present in the room. Quickly taking a seat with one open to both sides of her...

Once the head os science entered, Deckar stood up. "We have a dire situation here." Geary began.  "Many of us, and I highly suspect all of us have had experiences of a temporal displacement.  During one of these episodes, Kathrine Seward had a particular disturbing encounter."  Taking the liberty to tell her experience, "It seems she was contacted by Q with the warning to not destroy the B'rel ship with the torpedo for it would bring beings that make the Borg look like babies with rattles."  He stopped a moment to let the implications take hold to the participants inthe meeting, "Also mentioned that we need to plug the time holes for if we do nothing, we run the risk of causing the Federation to be technology reduced prior to the industrial revolution."  Looking ar Marie Seward, "Ms. Seward, it was also suggested that you may be key in identifying the solution to our current situation."

Changing the topic, "To begin with, Lt. sh'Elliaph, can you tell us the progress you were able to make with the Away Team?"

Thani takes a moment to process the details, recalls the factual information, then stands up to report, "The away team proceeded according to plan. The Klingons crew were all dead upon arrival as we surmised from Dr. Dupont's assessment of exposure time to Tachyon Radiation. The security team noted the bodies appeared to be dead much longer than mere minutes than the timeline of the theft would have indicated. I also noted a slight time sync delay as we approached the torpedo location and engineering to purge the radiation. I quickly deduced the time distortion would have a detrimental and unknown impact upon our successful completion and instructed the away team to return to their shuttles to get protected from the tachyon radiation. I quickly set up a tachyon wave emitter to cancel out the resonating frequency causing the temporal anomaly. However, at the last moment I realized a variable had changed and instead of canceling the tachyon radiation, it actually resonated and sent out a shock wave."

A deep breath, "The away team was subject to some sort of temporal distortions. I had two experiences before I was back in the present time. A quick check of the instruments showed the wave had amplified the tachyon radiation to dangerously unsafe levels that were penetrating our shuttle shields. I ordered a quick withdraw to the Mihoshi for the safety of the away team."

Looking Geary in the eye, "I'm sorry sir, I failed you when you were counting on me the most."

Alex looks at Thani, amazed by the report. "If Mrs. Maria Seward is the key, then we need to assist her with filtering the light waves hitting her optic nerves or reaching her eyes. She's seeing all of us as having bright auras that are causing her extreme pain." Looking at Thani, "sh'Elliaph, are you able to assist with that?"


OOC: That's about as far as I can go until the GM chimes in.

Once the Doctor finished his question, Geary looked back at the Andorian, "Do not blame yourself, with the time displacement, there could be no way to anticipate the quick change of variables.  I'm glad that you got the Away team back to the ship safely."

Turning to address the rest of the Away team, "Were you able to locate the torpedo?"

Kate spoke up as Geary was talking to Farah. "If I  may what she actually said was that the pin prinks would if left alone attract the attention of much older more powerful civilizations and entities, the tear that would result from the B'Rel being destroyed would definitely draw their attention almost immediately. She named the Organians, I believe is how she said it would take a parental approach to our 'transgression' and reduce us back to pre-warp as a 'time out' or 'putting us in the corner', however, apparently there are other factions that would be drawn to such a tear such that would be far more ... hostile.  Apparently any of the factions would make the borg seem like in her words, gnats."

"I don't know how else to explain it, but I don't think it's actual light. Rather, it's how I perceive it," Maria replied to Alex's statement.  "Before all this when it was just Kate, her aura, as I call it, didn't illuminate anything in a dark room or make it easier for me to see in one, aside from her.  But now..."

She risked a peek at the room and quickly regretted it.  "Now you all 'shine' as brightly to me as the midday sun, I'm assuming because of your jumps through time, which I've not experienced at all.  I don't know why that is the case either."

A moment after Maria spoke, Cat entered the Ready Room, walking gingerly as if each step were uncomfortable.  She wore loose fitting clothes that belonged in MedBay, underscored by Nurse Lockhart's entering a step behind her.  With a glance at Alex, she noted her lack of authority to prevent Cat's attendance, "I couldn't stop her from coming."

Cat glanced around the room a moment before noticing the empty seat next to Thani and moved to it.  With a grimace, she sat on the edge of the chair and did not lean into the chair's back.  "What did I miss, aside from people skipping around their timelines?  Let me guess, the micro-singularity went nuts and is causing temporal distortion waves?"

Kate made her way over and gently held Maria from behind trying to comfort her wife lovingly as she turned her attention back toward the group.  Giving a slight smile at Catrina wondering what all she had experienced and if it had helped her amnesia at all.

Jason waited for them to all speak and then leaned forwards a little. "The warhead was located in the aft torpedo bay of the B'Rel. We were unable to confirm its location visually sir. Triangulation from me, Lt Cmd sh'Elliaph and Lt. Keyes pinpointed where it should be but we were going to get the ship's life-support back on to clear the radiation before retrieving the warhead. At that point we were ordered to return as she said. My concern is why the torpedo bay? It could have stayed in the cargo bay fine but it was moved to there."

His gaze moved to Cat and he grinned briefly at her attire but didn't say anything. At least not right now. They were doing serious business stuff. He could pick on her after or at least make her smile.

"Whatever they had in mind, they're no longer around to do it," Nynev said, noting the lack of survivors.  Dead people weren't known for activity.  "So we should focus more on stopping the device from doing whatever it's doing.  I don't know about you, but these trips aren't much fun."

She looked at Thani and Bart.  "So, Science and Engineering.  What should we do?"

Listening to the conversation, "What do we know about the warhead, how it operates?" Almost as soon as he spoke, a realization occurred, Turning to the Alex, "Doctor, may I speak with you in private for a moment?"

Alex offers up to the group, "Two things. First I need to see if the temporal shifts are effecting the health of the crew, second examine Maria to see what is different about her and stop her vision from incapacitating her. If I can borrow someone from engineering and science. As I'm sure we'll be tackling this problem from separate view points."

"Yes commander." Alex was curious what the commander needed from him, but was happy to oblige.

Thani speaks up, "Sir, if I may suggest. These are the three important things I can think need answers: How do we protect the ship & crew? Why is Maria important? How do we shut the thing down?"

Before anyone could answer Thani's question, Taylor called from the bridge, "Alert!  Incoming temporal displacement wave!"

Subspace, interesting what if we... his thoughts were interrupted at the words Taylor spoke across the comms, Bart slapped his comm and spoke with urgency "Blatt to Engineering, engage the warp drive, STAT!"

Thani catches Blatt's idea but realizes the crew might not grasp the request as worded, "Don't engage the impulse engine just engage the Warp Field systems!"

Jason had no idea what was going on, this was all over his head but he recognized that Cat had got into one of her trances again. He got up and rubbed her shoulder. "Cat come on, focus."

Jason's touch was enough to bring Cat out of her glitch as if startled awake. "Activate the warp field!" she exclaimed.  "Going into subspace may protect us!"

But the order had already been given by Bart and Thani.  The warp coils engaged, surrounding the Mihoshi with the telltale light of a warp bubble.  Normal space fell away...

And the crew remained where they were in time and space.

"Sensors show the wave has passed," Taylor called from the bridge, relief evident in her voice.  "Orders, sir?"

"We at least have a way of protecting the ship," Cat replied. "The warp bubble puts the ship into a subspace pocket, which isolates from the temporal waves it well enough though it does cut us off from normal space."

"I assume the shuttles do the same thing?" Farah asked.

"Yes, though the closer they are, the less time they'll have to initiate the warp field," Cat said and continued her train of thought while she wasn't glitching.  "And we can't project the bubble around the warhead.  The warp coils don't allow that."

All this talk about tech was starting to make Jason's head hurt. But if he could at least keep Cat from distractions, then that is all he could do. His hand lightly rested on her shoulder.

Touching the  COMM badge on his chest, "I'll be there promptly." Excusing himself he gets up and quickly leaves the room.

Jason looked back and forth at the group, rubbing Cat's shoulder. "Is it the warhead that is the problem causing this pulsing? I mean doesn't it need some sorta power source to do that?"

He really didn't know much at all. "Seems someone or someones might need to get to that warhead and scuttle it. If it was me in command, to heck with it being a prototype. Lives are worth more than that. We have the plans, it can be remade in safer conditions but if we can scuttle it out of the B'Rel, wouldn't that lessen the chances of these waves?"

He frowned a little. "How long can someone stand the radiation at its current levels and is there a way to reduce the impact of the radiation?" He was still willing to do what needed to be to fix this and he wasn't willing to sacrifice lives needlessly.

Even with her eyes closed, Maria knew it was Kate touching her, the way Kate's gentle hands rested on her shoulders.  Maria reached up without looking to give Kate's hand a loving squeeze.  "Sorry to be such a bother," she said to Kate softly.  "I wish I could look at you right now."

Kate gave maria a loving smile and a gentle kiss on the neck. "You're never a bother to me, I just wish I could do more for you" she whispers lovingly as she watches the exchanges in the room, her body tense from the anxiety of the situtation.

For a moment it looked as though Cat might glitch again, but she blinked her way past to look at Jason.  "The warhead?  No..." she said, still considering how to answer his questions without overloading him with a bunch of tech talk.  "Not anymore, I don't think.  A micro-singularity of the warhead's size has so little mass, it shouldn't even evaporate its Hawking radiation over time like I think Romulan warbird cores do.  They just explode, which is the point, but..."

She glitched for a moment, then returned.  "Somehow this thing is sustaining itself, or at least bleeding more radiation than its mass should support."

Another glitch.  "Maybe it's feeding off the Klingon ship somehow, or maybe, if it's temporally unstable, the mass may not be coming from elsewhere, but elsewhen.  I don't think it's as simple as pulling the plug anymore."

She faded a bit into her own thoughts.  "Did the Klingons do something to it?"  Glitch. "How do the Romulans hide a singularity when cloaked?"

Not caring about protocol, Maria kissed the top of Kate's hand.  "This Q person didn't give you any specific reason why she mentioned me?"

"No, she was frustratingly vague, but said you were the key to all this somehow.  Any thoughts?" Kate respondedd smiling at the kiss as she held her close.

When Bart arrived, T'Zerak met him.  "We don't think the warp core is in any immediate danger, but it's making the warp field you want up a bit twitchy.  May I ask, sir, why we're doing this?"

"I haven't had any of these time jumps like you and from the way Dr. Dupont reacted, I don't think he did when he was near me," Maria said.  "Strange you did, though."

After giving the order he turned to T'Zerak, "The B'Rel is sending out temporal distortion waves.  Going into subspace prevents us from being affected by those waves."

"I was in my quarters," Maria said to Geary.  She wasn't familiar with the voice, but knew it to be a member of the crew.  "I started experiencing a headache when I tried to look at Kate after..."  She tilted her head towards Kate. Noticing Jason's questions causing Cat issues and the out of place touching, "Mr. Walker, if you can please give Ms. Matheson some space and avoid asking her questions. You are exacerbating her condition."


Turning to address Cmdr Geary, "When I was with Mrs. Seward in her quarters, I felt a pull upon my body but no temporal experiences, other than the entire vessel shifted and we both fell to the ground. I shudder to think what a few more minutes could have caused to either of us."

Jason frowned a little, not sure what else to do or say. He was about to ask a general question of the group when the Doc spoke. Startled, he gave Cat's shoulder a light squeeze. Then he walked away back to his seat and sat down. He had nothing to add to the conversation at that point.

As much as Cat hated to admit it to herself, all the thinking was causing her to glitch and it embarrassed her to be treated like she was helpless, even if Alex was right.    She felt a bit bad for Jason too, who was only trying to get some answers, even if the touching was new.  With a sigh, she leaned back into the chair, only to realize a moment too late what a bad idea that was as her lower body and chair made contact, prompting her to sit back up hissing in pain.  "Ow!"

Lockhart frowned, "I think Dr. Dupont would prefer it if you returned to MedBay, Ms. Matheson."

The decision on sending people on dangerous missions was never an easy on.  This was different, he didn't have a choice.  He breathed in deeply before he spoke, looking at Maria he spoke softly, "Ms. Seward, since you seem to unaffected by the temporal distortions, I need   you to accompany a team to the B'rel to see if we can turn this quantum field off." He looked at her with empathetic eyes, "Will you be willing to do that?"

He glanced at his PADD and then he looked back at Maria, waiting for her answer.

Thani is puzzling through the various items, when more talking and distractions... NO! She stays focused, but then her antennae twitched erratically a moment and she locked eyes towards Cat who cried out in pain, both antennae directly focused towards Cat.

Maria tensed at Geary's request.  She was no scientist or engineer or security person.  Her world was to be in negotiations and agreements, not tachyon-radiation laden death traps, but they were in danger.  Kate was in danger and Maria realized she would do anything to keep her love safe.  "Yes, Commander Geary," she sighed.  "I will do whatever is needed of me."

A sympathetic wince is seen by Dr. Dupont when Cat cried out in pain. Moving to her side, "Ms. Matheson, you have helped your crew admirably. But you need to rest and recover in MedBay. Please go with nurse Lockhart back to MedBay for me. Can you do that for me?"

"Y-Yes, doctor," Cat replied as she slowly rose from her chair.  She wanted to do more, but she knew the glitches were getting bad.  Her own injury had been due to one and she couldn't risk anyone else being hurt because of it.

Smiling slightly, "Thank you Ms. Seward for your willingness to go.  If we can come up with another idea on how to get close to the torpedo with out you, we will definitely take it."

Standing up he announced, "We will be forming a team to head back to the B'rel to see about deactivating the quantum field around the torpedo."

Looking at Alex, "Dr. Dupont, I will need you to determine if there are any lasting ill effects associated with these time jumps."

Looking at the Sewards, "Councillors, for the time being, I need to you document everyone's time jump experience.  we need to know if there was anyone else that did not have any or had more than the rest of the crew."

"Commander Idrani, Please get the shuttle ready for a return trip to the B'rel."

Looking at the Andorian, "I need you to accompany me to Holodeck 1."

Tapping his comm badge, "Chief Blatt, I need you to join me in Holodeck 1, now.

Addressing the rest of the team, "We will need to figure out how to get close to the B'rel and deactivate that temporal field.  If you have any ideas, let the team know.  This meeting is adjourned."

Glancing at Cat as she gets up and leaves. As much as she valued Cat's presence Thani could not stand to see her in discomfort.

"Aye Commander." Thani acknowledges the request.

Alex was pondering what he might be able to do to help Cat overcome the glitches when Commander Geary's words reached him. "I will run a few sample scans with just the med team, I have experienced the jumps only once, while nurse Lockhart had two so far. Also, I will need someone from engineering and science to help me get Maria Seward glasses to block the pain. I do not wish her to be in any further discomfort while aiding the away team."

In response to Alex, "Ms. MacKenzie from the science team can be available to assist you Dr. Dupont."

Combadge to Taylor, "Ms. MacKenzie, please report to Medbay and assist Dr. Dupont with his project."

"I'm on my way," Taylor said over the comms and headed to MedBay to meet Alex.  Thani hadn't told her what the project was, nor could the orderly there.  When Cat entered with Lockhart, Taylor thought for a moment Cat was the reason why, but Alex wasn't with them.  It wasn't until Alex entered with Maria, who was strangely keeping her eyes closed, that Taylor began to sort out the who, but not the why.  "You needed my help, Doctor?"

"Thank you, Doctor," Maria said as she rose to let Alex escort her to MedBay.  Before she did, she gave Kate's hand one last squeeze.  "Will you be able to do as Mr. Geary asked?  I don't know how long this will take."

"Come along, you two," Nynev said to Jason and Tekar as she rose from her chair.  Geary had given his commands and they needed to execute their orders.  "We're to prepare a shuttle for a return trip.  I suggest a Type 6.  The Type 9's might have experienced greater stresses due to their proximity to the anomaly, so I don't want to take any chances."

Jason shook his head. "I am fine ma'am and up for it." He didn't have any issues but it wasn't like he would say he did if there was. If he was cleared for duty, then he would do his duty. "Question is, what are we going to do ma'am?"

"Whatever we have to, Mr. Walker," Nynev said as they entered the shuttle bay.  The two Type 9 shuttles had been moved to their berths. "As I suspect we'll be taking a Type 6," she noted,  "Mr. Tekar, check that one while Walker and check inspect this one.  Standard diagnostics to make sure none of this temporal funniness have impacted their systems."

Leading Jason to the other, she asked, "Your remark to Lt. Cmdr Matheson about scuttling the warhead and someone withstanding the radiation sounded like you wanted to be the one to do it?"

He nodded and took a few steps ahead of Nynev, hopping in and started to run the diagnostics suite on the shuttle. "I don't actually know if that would do anything. It sounds like it is far too late to remove the warhead from the ship, ma'am. I don't have the background or knowledge to understand what Lt Cmd sh'Elliap or Chief Blatt understand."

He finished pressing buttons and turned towards her. "But sending that warhead and maybe the B'Rel to the nearest star would be a start I'd think. Easiest solution in my mind but I am not a engineer or science officer. As for being the one, well... lets be honest ma'am, it wouldn't be a loss if something happened to me. It's not being a hero, just doing what needs to be done."

In response to his remark, Jason would learn just how deeply Nynev could scowl as her Andorian pride etched it onto her face.  She took in a sharp breath as she seemed to stand taller.  "You value your life that little and, by extension, your presence among us?" she asked.  "Are you saying Captain Greene was a fool for hand-picking you to this team?  I should challenge you to an Ushaan for insulting her honor that way."

Jason stared at Nynev as she scowled at him and then straightened up like that. For a moment he had a flash back and then wondered how he should respond to her. Of all the responses that came to mind he fell back on ranking vs species.

"Ma'am?" He rose to his feet. "I value those on this ship, ma'am. If there was a one-hundred percent chance certainty that it was a one way mission, yes I would still do it. I can be replaced. The knowledge that you, the Captain has, Commander Geary and others have is by far much more needed."

Then he straightened up, staring at her. He wasn't sure how to answer the challenge, he knew enough to know she was taking that seriously. Backing down wasn't an answer either. Neither was attacking a superior officer. In the end he just continued to stared at her, appearing unfazed.

In reply to Jason Walker (msg # 122):

"And your family?  Those you call friend?  They would so easily replace you?"  Nynev sighed and shook her head.  Humans.  An Ushaan would be pointless.  "You cannot properly value others if you do not value yourself and it concerns me to send someone into harm's way who doesn't."

"My family already lost a child from attacks ma'am. I am pretty sure if I were to die they would not be happy but who is when you lose someone you love? They respected my choices to join Star Fleet." Jason was getting a little confused at the way the conversation was going and the last part made his expression change. "Ma'am if you truly think that, you are my superior...," he said and left it like that, checking briefly to see if the diagnostics had finished.

While Jason and Nynev spoke, Tekar had started the system diagnostic on the other Type-6 and was conducting an external scan when something pricked at the edge of his perception, but he noticed it too late as the thing leapt at him from the shadows with a screech.  He twisted to avoid a slash, but was unable to stop the creature from raking a clawed limb across his midsection, ripping his uniform and sending him to the ground.  Mandibles twitching, it leaned in to bite.


OOC: When you see it, it's about 1 meter tall and translucent.  You will need a Reason+Science roll (a good one) to have any idea what it is.

A noise from outside caught her attention.  A screeching noise that sounded inhuman.  "What was that?"

Jason glanced at Nynev a moment. "Ma'am its not about no value." His brows furrowed. "If I can do something tha-," he to caught the noise and it didn't sound like something that should be on the ship. Something that shouldn't be meant that maybe they should take it with all seriousness.

"The lockers," he said and got up, pointing towards the weapon storage. "Where is Lt Davis?" And then he spotted Tekar there with a shimmery ugly thing next to him. "What the hell is that?"

Perhaps expecting easy prey, the creature did not expect Tekar's counter hissed as he made contact.  It skittered back a moment, screeched, then seemed to shimmer into nothingness as it moved towards the ship interior.

OOC: Nynev is darting to fetch Type-2 phasers from the nearest locker.

Tekar reached up and lightly tapped his comm badge. "Attention all crew members, we have an unidentified hostile insectoid entity on the ship, please be on alert it appears to have the ability to blend into its surroundings.' he provides a short discription of the creature before starting to follow the creature.

Jason shrugged at Tekar's rather bland description of the thing he had been wailing on with his fist. Turning, he watched Nynev go to the weapons locker.

"Any idea what that is?" He looked pointedly at Tekar and Nynev for answers. "I am going to get my bat'leth because if that thing isn't effected by our phasers maybe some sharp metal will work."

"Whatever it is, it's loose on the ship," Nynev said as she returned and tossed a Type-2 phaser to Tekar and Jason.  "Good idea with the bat'leth, just in case.  You two try to track it while I get the rest of Security togther and post them at key junction points."

Tapping her comm badge, she called to Geary.  "Commander, we have a hostile entity aboard of unknown original.  It attacked Lt. Tekar before disappearing.  Tekar issued a security alert, but we need internal sensors scanning for it."

Jason caught the phaser and adjusted the setting. "Doubt stunning it will work very well."

And he was comfortable with the bat'leth so he nodded to the both of them. "I am going to go get it now. Let me know where they sight it."

Geary steppd out of te turbolift and headed over to the security station, "Have we used a full spectrum scan of the interior to locate the intruder?"  He stopped to consider the coincidence of this creature being here at the same time as the anomaly and decided there are no such things as coincidences, "Also, can we scan for tachyon particles as well?"

Jason would find out the same thing, just as he approached the door to exit the shuttle bay for his quarters. He felt a pricking of the hairs on his neck and a hiss in his ear as the creature emerged - seemingly from nowhere - and leapt at him.  He twisted to avoid it, but he had been caught off guard.  Down Jason went onto his back as the creature leaned in for a bite.

Only Jason and the rest of Security would find it wasn't alone as another emerged where Tekar stood.  Perhaps it was a new one, or perhaps it was the one from before.  It didn't matter. There were two.  The one closest to Tekar rushed at him at hit, but just misjudged at it caught the fabric of Tekar's uniform and nothing more.

"Picking up something!  Deck 4, Shuttlebay Port Side Entrance!" the operations bridge officer exclaimed in response to Geary's command.  "It appeared out of nowhere!  A second signal!"

Kate hits her comm badge and goes to look for Maria. "Science can you discern any difference in Maria from the rest of the crew? Apparently something about her will deter whatever 'pests' we've attracted according to the Q"

"Ma'am?" Taylor answered, uncertain.  "Your wife seems somehow to repel or at ward off chronitons.  The reason for her eye issues is things that have received doses of them emit an energy frequency that stimulates her optic nerves.  Did you say Q, ma'am?"

Tekar makes a quick lunge at the beast-like he did last time, but apparently once bitten twice shy the beast managed to avoid his grasp.

Jason learned long ago how to take a fall so when he felt and heard that hiss, like a cat he twisted and landed on his back. His leg shifted out and then he rolled as he kicked at the creature, using his momentum from the kick to get back to his feet as he spun. It almost appeared like a dance move, the way he executed it. Either way he surprised the creature and landed a blow, giving himself room.

"Don't let it get away," he shouted. "Take it down before it gets back to its hive Davis!" Otherwise they were going to be knee deep in these things.

"yes, is it possible for us to simulate a field similar to what Maria's body does over the ship? it should discourage our interlopers if I'm right."

"Maybe?" Taylor replied.  "I'm with Ms. Seward in MedBay now.  I can try to relay her scan readings and see if it's possible."

He closed off the communication and under his breath he said, "Couldn't we have something simple and straight forward like a Cardiassian invasion?"  Standing and moving to the center of the bridge, "Commander to Holodeck 1, Top Priority, Chief Blatt and Commander sh'Elliaph, We have an situationthat requires your assistance.  There  is an intruder that seems to be affected by the chronitons and we need to modify the shield to match whatever is going on with Ms. Seward.  This also may solve our issues with the Time jumps.  Transmitting her data now."

"sh'Elliaph to bridge, transmitting configuration to realign fields and transmit proper field external to the ship. Please implement as follows..." Thani verbally says what needs to happen as well as send a copy for the ships' records and science team records.

Geary turning his char to face the Science station, "Tzerak, Implement Commander sh'Elliaph's recommendation, now." Tapping his comm badge, Geary responds to the other request, "Lt, zh'Idrani, get them in containment fields, hopefully they wont dissappear on us. Send one to Bioscience and one to medical."

Thanks to the particle dispersal, no more critters show up.  Sensors will show, however, signs of a gathering of them around where the anomaly is, apparently drawn to it by the tachyon and chroniton particle flow, consistent with the scans taken by Bio-sciences of the two killed in the shuttle bay.

Careful analysis of Maria Seward shows her "warding" of tachyon and chroniton particles extends roughly 1 meter around her, though the exact reason is still unknown.  The visor devised for her functions and she is able to see without pain, though it is rather unfashionable.

After an hour of rushed work, Bart and Thani will have constructed a device to force the anomaly shut.  Time is a factor as the anomaly continues to grow.  Delay risks the anomaly growing beyond the enclosures ability to contain it.

Geary breathed a needed sigh of relief, he knew the most important, as well as dangerous,  dangerous task was before them, but to get this far was a miracle in itsself. He turned on the intercom "Good work everyone, but no time to rest just yet.  We need to get the device and the team on the shuttle and over to the B'rel as quickly as possible. Lt. Keyes, I will need you to pilot the shuttle, Chief Blatt, you will be needed to install the device. Ensign Walker and Lt. Davis, You will provide secuiryt and assist Chief Blatt with the instalation of the device. As for the rest of the crew, be on the alert in case there are more of these Phase-Bugs still on board."

Pondering a bit, "Commander sh'Elliaph, You will need to go as well to make sure the frequencies and tolerance are all within range and that there are no adverse affects once the containment device has been placed."

Some points as you plan things:

- There's been zero sign of the 3rd B'rel.  It's almost certainly run off.

- The Mihoshi will have to drop its warp bubble to let any shuttles out.  But dropping the warp bubble exposes it to possible temporal distortion waves again.  Right now, they're pulsing about 1/minute.

- The shuttles have warp too so they can generate their own warp field if a distortion wave comes.  Timing will matter, as will piloting the shuttle.  And suffice to say, warp systems aren't really mean for repeated rapid stop/start.

- As noted before, there have been no more critters on the Mihoshi, but sensors detect a number of similar lifeforms (now that you know what to look for) near the anomaly.

- A side note, with the B'Rel cargo bay open, a skilled shuttle pilot can get a Type 6 in there. A bit cozy, but could help logistically.

Since they had a hour before they would leave, Jason decided to gather up what he would need first. The sword hepicked brought back a flash of memory and sighed. Leaving that and what other items he would take with him, he went off to search for Naoko.

He had, until then, forgot about the flashback or what ever it was. So he checked Engineering first to see if she was there and if not, he would pinpoint her using the computer and go to her. Hopefully she wasn't busy.

It took time and bit of searching to track her down, but eventually Jason found Naoko heading back to Engineering from MedBay.  "Hey, Jason," she said.  "I hear you had quite the time out on the shuttle and in the shuttle bay."

Jason nodded, making a face. "Yea, they shrugged off phaser fire so I had to beat one down with a spanner. Believe me, its not the easiest thing to do."

He looked down a moment in thought then back up, brows furrowed. "Can we talk Naoko? Privately?" As if there really was any place on the ship that could be considered that.

In reply to Jason Walker (msg # 157):

"Um, yeah, sure," Naoko replied uncertain what Jason needed to discuss.  Looking around, she saw the door to one of the defensive sensor array room.  "In here," she said leading him inside, then faced him, no more certain than before.  "So we're 'privately' now.  What's this about?"

Jason followed her in, not really looking around as he found a spot to lean on and cross his arms. For a little he said nothing then sighed. "Those events that happened... one of them seemed to be a memory from the past. The second time was.... a nightmare sort of..."

"Remember when we spared with our weapons in the holodeck? It was that but when it happened you were laying there on the floor... there was so much blood... I tried to stop it and call for medical..." He bit his lip at that point, fidgeting as his expression went to pained. There was more but this concerned her.

Thani waited for the fabrication to complete. Eager to see the device in practice.


Bart would see a smile plastered on her face.

When the Commander said she had to go, "Aye sir. I will make sure this rift closes and is contained."

"B-Blood...?" Jason had Naoko clearly unsettled as he described what was apparently her death.  "W-Why are you telling me this?"

Jason didn't have a answer at first for her. "Why? Because it scared me," he finally said. "I didn't want to lose you to something like that. I can accept my own damned stupidity but not that..." He shrugged a little as if trying to brush it off but it disturbed him a lot to have seen that.

"Where did it happen, then?  When?" Naoko asked.  Jason couldn't just throw this at her with no context.  "Am I supposed to avoid this?  What am I saying, of course I want to avoid it!  And are you saying you got me killed?"

Jason's head snapped up. For a moment he stared at her. "Oh, I look'd at m'watch t'see what the day and time were," he drawled out. "With all that s'going on Naoko, you'd understand better than me all this mess."

Jason sighed sharply, frustrated, and took a deep breath to control just how upset he had gotten. "What ever the hell it was, Naoko, I have no intention of hurting you like that. Ever." And now she was upset and he had no idea what to say to her. As if he would have intentionally hurt her. They were close friends, right?

Jason's accent only leaked out when he was emotional and its thickness only showed up much he was and it unnerved Naoko.  Then she grasped what he was implying and it took her from unnerved to afraid.  "You...?  You killed me?"

He went still a moment at her question. Did he kill her? He had no clue. It was all a jumble and confusing still to him.

"The flash hit us an the next thing I know I'm standing there with a sword covered in blood and you were down, bleeding on the floor," Jason said quietly. "I don't know what happened and I couldn't stop the bleeding..." He shook his head and his shoulders slumped.

"Maybe I should go," he said and started to turn to leave. He had no idea why he even told her that. To him the whole thing seemed surreal and fake.

"Maybe?"  It wasn't a request or suggestion, but a question.  Naoko didn't know what to make of what Jason told her.  By his description, at point in the future he had killed her with a sword and that made no sense.  Not unless he was hiding a part of himself from her she didn't know and she found herself a bit afraid.  "I, uh, need to get back to work anyways.  You know, Chief Blatt's still working with Lt. Cmdr sh'Elliaph to build that device.  I should go..."

Maybe, because he suddenly felt like he was bothering her and that wasn't what he wanted. Her words seemed to stab at him and he just nodded. "Have to go back over to the B'Rel anyways," he said almost dully and walked off.
