In reply to Tekar Visroy Davis (msg # 25):

Jumped a bit and blinked, "Sorry about that, I'll do better."  He readjusted the device so he could move it better and be in the protected zone during the next wave.  "Curious thing though, this jump had Commander Nynev, the Mihoshi was under attack, before I left, she told me, "Don't trust...", but I couldn't get the name."

Jason eyed Bart a moment then arched a brow. "Stay closer..." He shot Brat a brief grin before turning to the rest. "Ok folks. Listen up. There is no way to say this nicely. There will be bodies up ahead. In zero g... well its not fun. We are going to go up one level and in. There's a door that leads out into the corridor, from there the Aft Bay is then straight ahead and last door."

He paused a moment. "Everyone got it?" He had no idea how many more pulses they would have to endure before they got to the torpedo bay.

In reply to Jason Walker (msg # 27):

Zero-G maneuvering was not his specialty, especially moving a massive piece of equipment. Newton's third law came to mind as he tried to move the device up to the next level, Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. "A little help here." Bart called out as the device became a bit unwieldy.

Tekar floats and pushes between surfaces in the zero g conditions. Not great but not horrible either .

STARDATE 48174.31 - Shuttle/B'Rel

Jason got everyone into line, which meant the order was him, Maria, Thani, Tekar and Bart. He then paused when Bart asked for help and tossed him the line he had been carrying that he intended on tying everyone together. Now it seemed more useful for the equipment and carefully hauling it up instead of trying to float it in zero g by hand.

He made sure Maria had a tight hold of his belt before he started to climb up to the next deck. Once there he'd wait for everyone else before they moved on, that and the next incoming pulse.

STARDATE 48174.31 - Shuttle/B'Rel

To resolve the last round, everyone successfully made it up the tube in the following order:

Jason, Maria, Thani, Tekar, Bart.

Alas, the nullifier got hung up on a ladder rung partway up and someone will need to go free it.  It's a Fitness + Conn down, simple action to free the device, followed by a Fitness + Conn back up.  (Fitness + Conn the basis for EVA/Zero-G maneuvers in the rules).

Thankfully, now that you're all on the same Deck as the anomaly, you have a bit more margin as Maria can just stand there and shield the group.  Going back down the tube, however, leaves her bubble.  Good timing and proper rolls will get the nullifier to Deck 4.

Some rolls are still needed:

- Reason + Science time the waves
- Reason + Security scan for critters

Grabbing the line Walker taoosed him, Bart secured it to the device and helped guide it up the tube. "Secure on this end."  After this, he was going to program holodeck 2 for a nice Regelian bath and stay there for a couple of months.

With the nullifier safely retrieved, the group is on Deck 4 with Maria acting as the shield.  The anomaly is in the aft torpedo bay to the rear of the ship.  Referring to the deck plans, you'll see a single corridor lined to either side with coolant tanks ending in a hatchway, the torpedo bay beyond.  Sensor readings would confirm the presence of the critters.  An indeterminate number.  Perhaps because of the distance and the hatchway.  Perhaps because of the interference.  Perhaps there are too many to count.

What do you do?

- A really good Control + Security to scan critters might help
- The timing of the waves still matters, but with Maria near the front shielding, it's trivial to lead people to the back.  It matters most what the plan is when you open the hatch.

I think the plan should follow something along the lines of:
  • Tekar and Jason run interference and deal with the critters
  • Maria, Bart, and Thani proceed to the rift.
  • Bart applies the device to the rift (Thani assists)
  • Maria blocks the waves for the team.

Jason lead them go through the hatchway right there at the ladder and head down the hall with Maria right behind him. He now had the sword he had procured out and ready since he knew those insect monsters were somewhere there. "Mrs. Seward, I want you to stay behind me. When we get up to the hatch into the bay." He would ask for someone to check just how many lifeforms they had to contend with when they got closer to the hatch.

In reply to Jason Walker (msg # 37):

"A-Alright..."  Even with Maria's visor masking the fear in her eyes, anyone around her could tell she was scared.  She had to do her part, however, even if it meant walking the corridor of a Klingon ship with temporal forces raging.  She had done little more than act as whatever shield they needed and could do little else, but it would be enough if it got them all safely home.

Jason took them through the door at the top of the ladder and down the hall towards the aft bay. At the door he paused and scanned first and then nodded to Tekar for them to get the door open. He had no clue just what exactly was waiting on the other side but he was prepared with sword in hand. "Ms Seward, take a good grip on my belt and don't let go. I will protect you."

STARDATE 48174.31 - Shuttle/B'Rel

Scans as the group approached revealed a constantly shifting number of the creatures Jason and Tekar had fought on the Mihoshi and once Jason opened the hatch to the aft torpedo bay, it became clear why.  A swarm of them surrounded the anomaly, which was a pulsating ball of light and color the size of a tight fist.  A temporal wave went off, deflected by Maria's presence, but the anomaly expanded, then returned to its original size.  Almost.  Thani's scans showed that it had grown ever so slightly and would continue to do so.

The creatures did not notice the group, or perhaps they did not care.  So close to a source of feeding, why would they?

What do you do?

Are the creatures large enough to impede placing the containment chamber? If yes, then Thani will say - "Walker and Davis, we need those creatures out of the way to do our work."

If not, then - "Blatt, let's get the device in place and shut the anomaly down for good!"

In reply to Thani sh'Elliaph (msg # 43):

The creatures are like that of the ones from the shuttle bay.  They seem to phase in and out and it's hard to tell if it's the same ones or if, perhaps, once fed they phase out to allow others access.  Either way, they indeed block access.

The nullifier is like a clam, hollow and hinged on one side.  It needs to fully enclose the anomaly before activation.

Jason glanced at Tekar and then behind him to Maria. An idea occurred to him then. "Cmd sh'Elliaph? What do you think would happen if I walk Mrs. Seward into those creatures? Would it repel them? They seem attracted to what ever is being given off by the warhead. They seem more fascinated by the warhead than anything else."

While the others did what ever they were going to do Jason reached back and gave Maria's hand a comforting squeeze before walking towards the creatures with the woman at his back. He would get as close as he could to the warhead and what ever it was emitting. "What ever you two are going to do you better do it now." He didn't like being this close to things.
