STARDATE 48254.09 - The Oricon Nebula - USS Sirius

After 3 hours of travel, the Mihoshi arrived at the Oricon Nebula.  By the time it arrived, the Sirius had drifted further into the asteroid field, but Istala carefully navigated the Mihoshi alongside the Sirius (unless you all wish it in a different orientation) and Nynev reconfigured the shields to enclose both ship.  (Having to cover a much larger area will weaken them, but it still more than enough for a rogue asteroid.)  With information provided by the Sirius, Thani is able to locate the gravimetric anomaly the scientific team had gone to investigate.

Medical and Engineering Teams go here.

In reply to Your Loving GM (msg # 1):

Once they were given the "Go Ahead", Bart sent his teams to their designated duties, "Lt.Tzerak and Ens. Laurant, Get the power up and stabilized. And Lt. Rr'zah and Crewman Rosebrooke start working on the engines, Impulse engines first.  We need some maneuverability on the ship.  I will be in Life Support getting that system back to full capacity."

In reply to Bartolomy Blatt (msg # 2):

H'Raal had deliberated what to do at the site of the Sirius, but he had finally come up with a solution.  He was suited up in EVA attire, heading for one of the shuttle bays.  The Caitian Operations Chief tapped his communicator.  "Lt. Blatt; it's Chief H'Raal.  I'm heading outside in a Work Bee to help repair the Sirius' hull breaches.  If there are any emergencies, that's where I'll be."  Opening the bubble of the front of the Work Bee, he climbed into the seat, closing the bubble and strapping himself inside.

"Control, this is Chief H'Raal requesting departure from Docking Bay 2."

Working to get the life support back in proper order, Bart replied to notification, "Understood Commander.  If you would, please coordinate with Lt. Tzerak as to what the nacells conditions are.  Then we will have a better idea how best to repair the engines.  I will check on the progress after I'm satisfied with Life Support."

Trusting the others to handle repairs, Alex began where they exited, "Computer, where are the most number of the crew not moving with life signs?". Any wounded would be assessed and treated as he made his way towards the medbay (Where he expected the wounded would have gone if possible unless the computer indicates otherwise).

STARDATE 48254.09 - The Oricon Nebula - USS Sirius

In reply to Bartolomy Blatt (msg # 5):

"Understood, Lieutenant.  H'Raal out." Guiding the Work Bee out of the hangar, the Caitian approached the crippled science ship.  Taking a survey of the ship, he contacted the Engineering team aboard. "Lt. Tzerak, this is Chief H'Raal.  I've just surveyed the outside condition of the Sirius.  There's a pretty bad break in the struts for the starboard nacelle.  I'll try and get them fixed first, but don't fire up the Sirius' engines until I do.  Impulse it's hard to say, but if the Sirius tries warp with this kind of break, the ship will fly apart.  H'Raal out."

He started with the engine struts, then any hull breach that threatened a vital area of the ship, and after that moved onto any breach that could lead into a corridor or other space that had needed to be sealed off because of the breach.  The problem wasn't that there were so many breaks, but that the breaches that were there were multilayered and complex as hell. "Well, H'Raal, you said you wanted to get your hands dirty..."  He worked apace, and when he was finally done, contacted the Mihoshi"Mihoshi, this is Chief H'Raal.  I've fixed the Sirius' hull breaches, she should be good to go.  I'm coming back onboard now, clear the shuttle bay."

Taking a moment from what she was doing, Jessica looked at Lt. Tzerak. "Thank you, sir." She couldn't have been more surprised that he said anything to her at all, let alone 'good work'. "The energy signature didn't seem quite right, so I checked the alignment of the dilithium chamber a little more closely. Now that we know the alignment is off, it's just a matter of resetting it, or at least, finding a work-around." As she talked, she continued working. Engineering was some of what she knew best, so she was going to stick to it and avoid trouble as best she could.

Dupont and Lockhart had swung into action. As they found the injured they became the dynamic duo finding the worst injured and bringing them back from the brink before tackling the next crewmate after that. With the computer's information, they got the worst before they died.

When they finally made it to Medbay, Alex quickly saw the untrained woman struggling with a patient and the CMO with another patient. "Dr. Dupont and Nurse Lockhart from the U.S.S. Mihoshi here to help." Together, they were able to help bring order to the hectic chaos and get everyone treated properly.

STARDATE 48254.09 - The Oricon Nebula - USS Sirius

In reply to Your Loving GM (msg # 7):

Bart had just switched the life support from the backup power to main power when the power surge happened, causing Life support to go down.  His mind raced as he grabbed for the back up power cable to reconnect it. Luckily Naoko was there to hand him the correct cable.  Realizing his mistake, he nodded at the technition and she reattach the power.  They then inserted a surge protector before connecting the the main power once again.
Breathing in a sigh of relief, Bart turned to Noako, "Thanks, that would have been bad."
He ran a diagnostic and once satisfied he stated, "OK, lets go help withthe engines now."

In reply to Alex Dupont (msg # 10):

"Thank goodness you were able to get here," Dr. Jiciso said to Alex, as visibly tired as relieved as he slumped into a chair.  "If you and Nurse Lockhart not helped, he was certain he would have lost people."

"Indeed," Leerima Gram said, fatigued as well, though not nearly as much as Jiciso.  Even handling the relatively minor cases of contusions and lacerations had been more than she had bargained for.  "It's a good thing you were in the sector."

She quirked an eyebrow as black Betazoid eyes regarded Alex, "Just passing through?"

In reply to Bartolomy Blatt (msg # 11):

Many of the engineering crew had bee injured after the initial damage to the Sirius, including most of its more senior members.  Bart's presence brought a reassuring calm to the junior officers and enlisted and responded to his leadership.  "T-Thank you, sir," a young man said, perhaps months out of the Academy.  "Hopefully we'll be ok now."

In reply to Jessica Laurent (msg # 9):

Tzerak hummed in agreement with Jessica's assessment, then nodded.  Like most of the engineering staff, he seemed to tolerate Jessica's presence.  Not hostile, but keeping her more at arm's distance.  "Let's meet with Chief Blatt, then.  I'd like to go over the rest of the systems to make sure there aren't any hidden dangers."

Jackie missed Cat.  Not that she didn't like Bart as Chief, but as she struggled to work on the engines with M'Lera - who was teaching her all manner of invectives in her native Catian tongue - Jackie knew Cat would have had the problem solved in no time.  Serving aboard a Oberth class vessel didn't mean she was an expert, as she found out the hard way when she mistakenly used a setting for the Mihoshi on a linkage calibration.  Thankfully it had only caused a momentary fluctuation in power.  Whether Chief Blatt saw it that way would be another matter.  "I think we have it working, sir," she said to Bart as he approached.  "Sorry for the hiccup."

Alex nods and gives a smile. "Happy to help a fellow Starfleet crew. I think given rest and time, the entire crew will be back in action. No loss of life." That was a good thing. No mourning, no grief, no counseling for the loss of a crewmate. Perhaps counseling for the incident, but that was easier when the crew had the shared experience to lean on.

Answering the Betazoid. "Yes, en route to another part of the sector when we apparently got your distress call." Alex wasn't sure why he realized the person was a Betazoid, but he leaned in with a lowered voice.

Then waited to see if there was any acknowledgment.

"Then we are fortunate for it," Leerima said.

"Indeed, we are," Dr. Jiciso added as he checked the vitals of some of the more sensitive cases.  "I think we have things in hand, assuming no more disasters."

He hatted giving people bad news, thankfully it was not the worse news.  But he knew the longer it took to find the science team, the chances of their survival diminished. "Captain Konank, Commander Geary here, we have yet to hear back from our search and rescue team.  The Nebula is causing issues with the communications between us and the shuttles.  Once I have word, I shall contact you.  Is there anything else we can assist you with in the time being?"

In reply to Decker Geary (msg # 20):

Bart had ran the diagnostics on Life support and the power grid, he was satisfied with the results.  They would work for now, but would still need a overhaul once they reached a space dock.  He looked up at Crewman Rosebrooke, "Good work.  Too bad my mistake almost caused the Life Support to fail.  If Lt. Naoko hadn't been there to cover my ass, it could have been bad. But that is why we work as a team, right?"  Checking the dilithium chamber after reading the report, "Good catch Ensign on the misalignment."

Tapping on his comm, "OK People, lets give things a good once over before we call it a day."

Having docked the Work Bee back onboard the Mihoshi, H'Raal returned to the bridge, taking up position at the Operations station.  He'd heard Konank contact them both over communications, and Geary respond to the Vulcan with an update about the search and rescue team.  A few moments later, he picked up an incoming signal.  "Commander?  We've got what looks like a signal from the rescue team; it's slightly fuzzy, so I'll try and compensate for the interference.  Putting it through now."

"Captain Konank, Understood.  We appreciate your concern, but at this time your need takes precedence.  Get your ship to safety, we will continue to look for your scientist."  Geary knew his duty and that was to protect the members of the Federation first.  Plus it might be good to show those at the negotiations what we value.

Turning to communications, "Get the rescue team on line."
