The Mess and Lounge on the Mihoshi

Elliaph happened to plop down next a Chicken Burgers with Spinach Basil Pesto & Mozzarella munching, petite, blond haired person. The plopping drew the attention of the same, Jess, gently nibbling at her burger, turned to look towards her fellow crew member. It had been her plan to sit with the engineers and get to know them but most of them had already eaten and were off to some kind of recreational activity. This wasnt new to the young engineer, her early diligance often led to this same similar cycle and she was just contemplating what to do about it when she heard someone sit next to her.

A small "hello" peeped itself out past the burger and in Lt Cmdr Elliaph's direction.

The blue-shirt glanced over at the plate next to her, then at the crewmate eating it. Thani flashed a smile and rolled the odd fork between two fingers.

"Hey there, how's the meal?"

Jessica's eyes flashed to the burger and then back to Thani, a smile started to form and it almost seemed like the engineer was going to chuckle. "Comforting, Chicken sandwiches have always been a comfort food for me."

Making a glance to what the Andorian was eating "and yours?"

Though Jason should have technically dined in the Enlisted Mess, Naoko was having none of it and escorted Jason to the Officer's Lounge, certain that no one would object.  Inside, she took note of Jessica and an Andorian sitting at the same table, but left them to their own conversation as she went to the replicator and began placing an order of a typical Washoku meal.  "What are you having, Jason?"

He was almost nervous entering in the Officer's mess and stayed kind of close to Naoko. A brief glance was giving to the other two before his attention was diverted back to the engineers.

"Unn, not any of that stuff you get." He had tried it once and Naoko had laughed at him for the faces he made. "I ain't daring you to pick something for me either. Im'a growin' boy so get me some steak. Bet the officers get the better stuff."

"Um... you do know you're in the Officer's Lounge, right?  Even the Captain eats here," Naoko told Jason as she grabbed her freshly rendered meal from the replicator bay.  Bart had just caught up as she did, allowing her to tease, "Hey, Bart, did you know this is the Officer's Lounge?"

"Really?" Bart replied in mock surprise.  "Coulda sworn this was the transporter room..."

Jason gave Naoko one of those looks. "Not sure what ya'll are on about," he said after a moment then ordered steak and a honest to god salad.

"And I think I've seen the Capt'n maybe once, when the Mihoshi first docked at DS5. I think she was in a hurry though." He stepped to the side to let Bart get his food.

As for Bart's sarcastic comment, Jason turned his attention to him. "Well if this is, Bart, beam yourself somewhere else," his mouth twitched before he grinned at the man. "At least I can enjoy Naoko's company then." That was a totally smartass comment and they all knew it.

"I've met her only once, when they were doing the final fitting," Naoko said as she sat and began to eat.  "Cat said she was an engineer at one point, shipfitting.  A bit of a jump to Command, if you ask me, but I guess you can only make sure deckplates are lined up right before you get bored."  She shrugged.  "Cat speaks well of her, so that's good enough for me."

Jason shrugged as he started to cut into the steak. "She's the capt'n," he said and then took a bite. It didn't matter to him. Before this, he was student and before that he was fighting for his home.

"Cat knows her," he said after swallowing. "Its all above my station. I might want to get into some sort of command but thats years away. Don't get me wrong, I understand yer... reluctance...? Its a leap but y'figger, she wouldn't have been promoted if'n there wasn't somethin' there."
