The USS Mihoshi: MedBay

Alex looks at Jason and slowly shakes his head in the negative. Catrina's Neural Interface still showed as active and the effect of dropping the field would start them at square one for her. He's allowing the patient to re-acclimate with familiar voices and hoping they'll encourage her to do what he's already stated.

In reply to Katherine Seward (msg # 92):

"Katie?" Cat said to Kate.    "Of course I remember you.  How could I forget?  And Jason? You're hear too?  What happened to me?"

"As I said, there's been an incident and your implant was affected," Farah interjected, "but I need to you switch off the neural link."  Pausing a moment to give her friend some reassurance, but impress the need, she added, "That's an order, Cmdr."

"Yes, of course... Captain." Cat reached into her implant interface and deactivated it.  The "voice" of the ship had already gone quiet in her head, but switching it off felt strange all the same.  "Done..."

After confirming the implant was off, Alex nods, "Specialist Walker, you can drop the isolation field." He'd then run a quick diagnostic check of Catrina to verify there were no other issues. "Cmdr. how are you feeling?", Looking to both the Captain and Cmdr. Malko, "She can return to limited duty, no command privileges until I get a chance to re-evaluate."

"Aye, sir," he said. "Computer, disengage the isolation field around the trauma bay." For a moment he wasn't sure what to tell Catrina and then glanced to the side at the Captain quickly before responding to Cat. "Glad to see ya back Miss Kitty," he drawled out teasingly before darting his gaze around and schooling his features into something more respectable. But for a brief second he had a grin on his face.

"Funny.  Now I know it's you," Cat said to Jason as she left the surgical area, then called back to Alex. "I'm a bit fuzzy headed, but OK otherwise.  Thank you, Doctor.  I'll be back when I can, but right now, my ship needs me."

She paused for a moment before Kate.    "I appreciate the assistance, Ms. Seward."

"I'm sure they can use your help in Engineering, Cmdr Matheson," Farah said, taking on a more formal tone to move Cat along. "Take Lt. Kusaragi with you and help her get rid of that code."

"Aye, Captain," Cat said, then looked around for Naoko.

"Here, Chief," Naoko said rising, knowing her superior was having problems recognizing faces.  "I'll fill you in along the way."

"Alright," Cat replied, then turned for the door.  "Come on.  Let's hope the new kid is up to the challenge.  You too, Jason.  We'll find something to keep you busy."  She took a few steps, then glanced down at her bare feet.  "Though I suppose I should at least get some shoes first."

Kate smiled at Catrina Matheson and gave a polite nod. "Anytime, Commander.  I'm sorry that this whole incident ruined our dinner plans.  I'll try to be a better host next time?" she said jokingly as she glanced to the Captain. "How may I be of assistance Captain Green?"

In reply to Alex Dupont (msg # 96):

With Cat on her way, Farah looked to those remaining and her eyes fell on Teala.  That immediately changed her priorities and she trusted her crew to tackle the ship's problems.  She had to.  "I need the room with Dr. Dupont.  Alone."

That put Kate in the undesirable position of little to do.    There was little she could do about it.  Instead she simply said, "Go back to your quarters for now.  I haven't forgotten your skills from the Endeavor and if they're needed, I'll call."

Jason's eyes lit up in amusement at Cat's deadpanned comment towards him. Taking a step back, he removed himself from Catrina's path and then glanced back at the remaining patient in stasis. His name drew his attention to Cat and he blinked. "What? Me?" His voice pitched up higher a moment. "But I don't know nuffing 'bout engineering," he said, following behind instantly at the order given and almost running into Cat when she stopped to look down, eyes almost lighting up in glee at the painted, red toenails. "I'll get one of the team to go get some from your quarters or you can ask them, there's two outside the door." He added, holding back a laugh.

Re: The USS Mihoshi: MedBay

"Very good Ms. Kusaragi.  Proceed and be aware that i will be accessing logs of who logged into the honeypot.  Inform me if I interfere with your work."

Alex Dupont:
After confirming the implant was off, Alex nods, "Specialist Walker, you can drop the isolation field." He'd then run a quick diagnostic check of Catrina to verify there were no other issues. "Cmdr. how are you feeling?", Looking to both the Captain and Cmdr. Malko, "She can return to limited duty, no command privileges until I get a chance to re-evaluate."

Malko took a step back.  "Welcome back Catrina.  Keep up the good work, Doctor Dupont. I will be on the bridge if I am needed."

Malko strode briskly to the bridge.  At his leg length, a brisk march could pass some people's run.

Upon reaching the bridge, he stepped out of the turbo lift.  "Mr. Geary, maintain the Con for the moment."

He moved to an empty station and did what he'd told Naoko earlier, accessing logs of who had accessed the Honeypot.  From there, he asked the computer--as a confirmation--to identify all neural interface users on the ship, and if nothing relevant had come up yet, he pulled up records of all their logins in the last twelve hours and checked for inconsistencies.

"What do you know, Katherine?" he said to himself.  "You're no more likely to know what lullabies Catrina's mother sang to her than you are to know which ones my mother did for me.  But your sister surely heard the same ones you did."

Farah frowned at the unwelcome music.  She had asked Naoko to program counter-measures, not psychological torture.  "Of course, Doctor," Farah continued, doing her best to ignore the music.  "As long as Teala is stable, I don't want any attempt to operate on her before this whole..." She growled in frustration. "Mess is fixed."

Alex nods in agreement. "Well, since we have ample time (With a slight smile) perhaps I should see if you're fit to return to duty. My experience has been ship captains love to be captains." As he grabs a the medical tricorder and begins reviewing her vitals and functions.

Alex shakes his head slightly, "Sorry captain, your implant has given you a mild concussion. Proper head trauma protocol dictates no heavy thinking for the next 12 hours. You need to rest and let your brain heal."

Farah frowned at Alex's diagnosis, but could not disagree with it.  She could feel the fuzziness in her head.  Detailed thought seemed to elude her grasp.  So despite her desire to seize control of the situation, she had to trust the team she had selected.  "As you say, Doctor."

As a testament her state of mind, it was only then she noted Alex's attire.  It was Orion, though anyone unfamiliar with their traditional dress might have mistaken it for Greek.  "If I may ask, Doctor, why are you dressed like that?"

Alex had been so in the moment that it took him a second to realize he wasn't in standard uniform. It really was comfortable.

Tugging at the toga top, "Oh, Teala and I enjoyed an evening on an air archipelago from her home world. Stunning view I might add. She was wearing the traditional garb of her people and asked me if I wanted to enjoy the full Orion experience as well. I took her up on her offer. It was quite refreshing to have a friendly conversation. We were wrapping things up with a sunset when everything went sideways and I ended up beaming here for our emergency."

Alex nods, he had done his duty and the captain would either listen, or not. Such was the burden of command.

Alex would summon the nurse back into the room to monitor Teala while he formulated the next processes to revive Teala. Despite the weirdness, he hoped the crew could get the craziness under control. Teala had been having a good evening and then one bad program had left her brain damaged and in critical condition. He wouldn't lose another friend, not again! He at least had the tools and technology to make a difference this time around.

"Hi, Doctor Dupont," Cat said to announce her presence in MedBay.  She had promised to return and she had, though perhaps not in the way he had expected.  "Captain Greene asked me to personally do the medical systems wipe and restore.  I wanted to coordinate with you to make sure..."  She glanced at the still in-stasis Orion.  "... nothing goes wrong."

She approached and stared at Teala.  A face she didn't recognize, but knew by the color of the woman's skin.  How easily it could be her there, she thought, and she unconsciously fingered her implant. "How is she?"

Alex looks up from his screens and gives a tired but slight smile of encouragement, "Critical but the stasis prevents any further damage."

He sighs, "I find it truly scary that in the mere matter of moments three crew members were rendered incapacitated. You and Teala collapsed immediately, Captain Greene held out for maybe a minute, but Laurent was unaffected. Maybe the answer to getting your implants unaffected lies in Laurent's interface."

Looking at the screens again, "I'm ready for the wipe, the stasis has battery back ups."

Alex pulls up the implant specs and compares them to see what the difference might be while Cat is dropping systems for the wipe. Something is troubling Alex about all this but he can't quite put his finger on it...

"Mine's pretty tightly integrated with my temporal lobe," Cat almost automatically as she continued to prepare the medical systems.  "It's capable of some decent bandwidth, though not as much as Teala's."  Then realized who she was talking to. "But you know that already."

The preparation complete, she was going to tell Alex she was ready when she caught sight of her scan shortly after the interface had been fused to her skull.  "I was a mess then..."
