Re: OOC Thread

Unless anything you just described stops the Duke from doing what he intend he will still do that.

And as the water was flowing uphill towards the building is the water actually coming out of the fountain or going in?

Unnnnnnnderstood... I will reply in-game when we're done discussing here...

The Duke:

Nooooooo. The path of the water led uphill, and upstream, but the water has not, in my mind, been flowing uphill. If I ever said anything like that, then I said it wrong.

I was quite sure the water was doing all kinds of unnatural stuff. But if its just behaving as expected there there is no problem at all roght.

Well, there's the problem of the water growing less, recently, than it used to be, but as far as it not acting like water, yeah, it's totally acting like water normally should.

So, I presume The Duke continues on through the next doorway...? Or does he stop and do anything else first...?

Correct. You and the gloves are each powerful, so this must be some high-level building-tech stuff happening.

Less so here than in America.
But yes, humans by nature are rebellious against authority.

The Lady:
"Those doors seem to close when these are opened.
Perhaps they open when these are closed?
" she suggested to The Duke, "Perhaps you might step inside the Hallway, and tell me what happens when I close this door?"

...Wait, what? When what is opened?

I think there's a misunderstanding somewhere.

Re: OOC Thread

msg#31:
There is a new doorway on the opposite wall from the entrance, with about three steps upward  to it.
The Lady:
Through yonder door.

Perhaps it is the entrance to said hallway of which Juniper speaks.
So The Lady casually glides over towards it, testing to see if it will open for her.
quote:
The doorway in question does in fact lead to a long hallway, about 40 yards or so. Its ceiling, too, lights up when one enters it.

At the far end is another doorway, open.

The ... door starts closing at the far end right away-- and it's two feet thick, of a very, very sturdy metal

So, The Lady is thinking that as this (fountain room) door is closed, the other opens.  And when this door is opened, the car one closes.

She wants The Duke to enter the hallway between the two doors; she will remain in the fountain room and close these doors, and she wants The Duke to observe whether (with the fountain room doors closed) the yonder doors at the other end of the hall subsequently open.

No. A little experimentation demonstrates that when one starts actually moving down the hallway, the far door starts closing.

It has nothing to do with the first door being open nor closed.

Just to save time, I will simply say that the results are unsatisfying.

It really does seem like the only way through the door before it closes is to run for it, at a faster-than-a-tree-person speed, which fortunately both of you can manage (without a roll).

Sorry not to post today folks. Very busy start-of-semester day, and then a really bad weather-related (I guess?) headache. And tomorrow will likely be worse (at least on the first front). I'll do my best...

This is a great moment to check if this is what Duke has prophesized and roll another dice to see if it gets better  and replce one of the other two though.

The Duke's Prophecy move:

quote:
Prophecy:
If only they would listen to you! It would all make sense, given time.

Declare another character to share your secrets with, and roll Scary/Weird.

7+: Prophecy
After that player makes a roll, they may ask you (The Duke's player, not The Duke) if they can use that thing you said now. If you say yes, that player rolls one die and may substitute the result for a die roll in their last roll. ("Oh, this is what you were talking about!")

If you say no, the prophecy can always be used later instead.

If they choose NOT to substitute the new die result for one of their last die results, the prophecy potential is used up anyway.

No player can have more than 1 prophecy at a time waiting to be used.

The Duke has already given his permission to use the move.

You roll one die, and hope that it is good enough to substitute for the worst die of your roll in an effective way.

HAVING SAID THAT...

The Duke, when did you previously lay a prophecy on The Lady? I can't find...

From memory, it was just as/after we arrived at the verdant strip.

Ah, I see now ...

No, I think we should leave it for now, I think its funny that The Lady always seems to screw up 'first contact' with the races of people we find out here.

Re: OOC Thread

The Duke ... msg 219 'Leaving the Zigg':
The Duke grumbles a sound of disgruntled approval. Most likely just because the Duke had no better idea on his own. When he steps onto the grass he starts to speak his tone of voice not entirely his own.

"This land cherishes the lady luck. A long forgotten thing that wants to connect with the land for it like her is of a time long past."

And then as if he had not said a word points at one of the jellyflies.

"Think we can eat those?"

ooc: The Lady has been prophetised. On a roll made she can ask me if this is what the Duke talked about. If yes, roll another dice and choose which two you want to use.  If no it can be used later.

Using it in this place has the biggest chance of a yes.

And a success again. I never gain xp with rolls like this.

Ohhhhh yeah, there it is, thanks...

1. It's not that I refused to believe-- I just couldn't find it.

2. Yeah, The Lady, you've got a point-- a Mad Prophecy is best used when you were 1 point away from not-failing (like a 6)... And when one of the dice was great and one bad. Which... is definitely not what happened with your roll...
