Re: [OOC] The Tavern

That does sound ideal for this sort of campaign.

Here is hoping we can stick together and  run long enough to put them to use!

Re: [OOC] The Tavern

I think I've figured it out. The key is that I don't want you saying "I spend 8 hours making arrows" but instead you would order other people to do it. You could still make gathering rolls but it would be because there are unique components not easily available otherwise.

For example, once you get up and running just saying "I want to gather generic crafting material" doesn't make sense because if you're just going out to pick herbs, send a servant to do it. However if it's like "I want these owlbear claws because I want to make a cool talisman" then that is a different thing entirely.

As I was trying to say, at certain points in the game (rules still TBD), mundane equipment is infinite and free. The kings of even a small nature can have free access to more arrows then they'll ever shoot. At some point even things like healing potions or low level scrolls become free...ish. If you want to carry around a couple pots of CLW then you can assume you stock up every time you're back at the castle. If you try to abuse this and say "I want 1,000 healing potions" then I'll just step in and say 'no' instead of trying to create a system that lets you have access to some gear but not other at certain levels.

Ultimately the more stuff like this we can handle outside of hard rules and systems, the better for everyone. Me being able to say "everyone gets a free potion of Cure Light Wounds whenever you leave the castle is much easier and still fits the feel of the game rather than huge elaborate systems tracking tax input vs. production lines because ultimately I want to run Pathfinder the RPG rather than Excel Spreadsheet the RPG.

Re: [OOC] The Tavern

So no joke there is a 4X Space game called Aurora 4X that is amazing to play but it is all done through spreadsheets. The crazy thing is that once you move past the obvious UI/Visuals the game can stack up against others like Distant Worlds and Stellaris despite those games being massively larger in budget.

Here is a review for it:

As for a more comical take on things, here is one of my favorite youtube comedy groups doing "Existential Crisis and Dragons" where instead of heroic adventurers all the players collectively control one mid-level office drone.

Re: [OOC] The Tavern

Being drunk means that you know you shouldn't post while drunk but that everyone will find it soooo funny you do it anyways.

That is drunk logic. "I know I shouldn't do this while drunk BUUUUUTTTTT...."

Re: [OOC] The Tavern

So I have wrestled with this for a little bit, but after thinking about it quite a lot over the past week, I think I need to pull out of the game. I won't get into my reasoning or any of that, but suffice to say that I just find it all a bit more stressful then I would like, and I'm just not having as much fun with it as I would hope. In the long term, I just don't think it will be the right game for me.

Today is the anniversary of the very first in-game post. So it's ironic and a little painful for me to make this announcement today.

I'm very sorry if my decision leaves anyone disappointed or angry; but I feel like this is the best choice for me at this time.

I wish you all the best!

Re: [OOC] The Tavern

Unfortunate about the original Renee.

And yeah, a full half of the cast is not the original players of the characters.

Welcome to the new Renee!

There was some flirtation between Ursion and the original Renee. Do not feel obliged to continue down that route of course, they were in the middle of a sort of spat so it would be a good place to drop it if you were so inclined.

Sounds like we are heading back to Olegs DM?

Re: [OOC] The Tavern

I can see that Renee hit it off strangely with Ursion. I'm comfortable continuing whatever they may have going on. No reason to break continuity.

I'm trying to reconcile some interesting conflicting concepts with Renee - The other player stated they were Nihilistic, but has an alignment that follows order, and then within the first scene breaks from this "nothing really matters" and engages in conversation with actual interest. I'm guessing less "nothing matters" and more "isolate to protect myself".

Radgonda, would the "feel left out" be a choice or just lack of opportunity?

If it's a choice, then we cannot do much about that, but if it's a lack of opportunity, then as eloquently stated, pick a target. :)
