Phew. Finally done with updates to the character description. Anura is your cautions neighbourly support/buffer.

I would assume, as a medic, Kiera is familiar with Anura's situation and was likely involved in getting her accustomed to the military setting.

Considering similarity and compatibility of their powers, I see her training a lot with Yu Ling.

Power interaction questions for:
1. Stewart - Can he normally take others along on the teleports? If not, would the extra oomph would change that?
2. Estelle - What would powering up a possession look like? Can Aruna channel energy into the object Spook is haunting? Probably depends on exactly what happens to her body.

Hello all, it is great to meet you all!

Ling has been trained and part of the organisation for most of her life, in one way or another. She's the ever-optimistic and upbeat one, who tries to keep everyone together when things get tough.

She would definitely work with Catalyst a lot, as their powers do work together perfectly. I am not sure if the boost would give her any more destructive power, as Shandian is already a devastating force in her own right. However, it would definitely make her much more energy-efficient, allowing her to function for far greater periods without recharge, which would be extremely valuable when in a combat scenario.

One question for the Watcher! I presume we're all the same rank, reporting to Sgt. Singh? And what are our living arrangements? (OK, two questions!)

As of how I wrote it, I didn't have him being able to bring others but I like the idea of needing to work with Anuradha for the added oomph/boost of energy to do it.

Outwardly, a Possessed structure/vehicle would not look abnormal... until telekinetic shenanigans are noticed.  Light shows are fun but I felt it wasn’t appropriate for Estelle.

If Haunt was boosted, which you could do via a reflective service on the structure/vehicle, I guess there would be a yellow/gold glow as per Anuradha‘s absorbing visuals.  If you wanted to use bands, runes, or symbols....I’d be fine with whatever you decide (boosting is Your power afterall *g*).

As for the effects of boosting, I guess Estelle could bring greater telekinetic strength to bear.... maybe her ability to psychically efffect occupants would improve too?  That last option would  be up to the ST.  I deliberately restricted Estelle’s powers so she couldn’t know everything or trivialise a scenario :)

So far everyone except Denton is PFC, because of her work as an intelligence specialist she's a Warrant Officer, Miss Denton to you poor dogs faces. But yes Sgt Singh is the squad leader.

I am not usually worried about what colours people use. Although, in one game, when my character uses powers, each word has alternating letters. Highlighting and modifying words one letter at a time soon makes the text entry box look like an Escher-like nightmare...

All my boys are Marines. They tend to be a bit more earthy but no need to over do it lol

So a few questions about the current scene and I guess the setting itself :) :

1) these guys are the same rank as us? lesser rank than us? I don't know a lot about army stuff (but I'm enjoying the crash course <3)

2) is everyone on the base Devil's Brigade/Mutants? Or are they mostly non-human infantry compared to our super-powered little fireteam thingy and teams like it? Sort of the big guns? I'm sort of expecting these guys are just guys, but I and Kiera will be deadly startled if they start dropping time distortions and psychic trickery on her lol.

3) these guys are being assholes, right? In non-military culture they're absolutely in the wrong and it's ballsy but reasonable for Kiera to take back the TV from them after they steamrolled Yu Ling and high jacked it. But in military culture are we going to find out that we're the assholes and should've known better? Because I... don't know better lol ^-^;

4) how big is the Devil's Brigade / How many mutants are there? I was sort of imagining based on the pitch that we'd be of a select few specifically part of the Devils. But these guys aren't treating us like we matter (which isn't a problem per se) but I just don't want to go walking around acting like we're the business if we're just expendable mutants :p If people who can throw cars and eat tank gun blasts are a dime a dozen in every other bunkhouse that's going to change things from how I'm sort of understanding it and I definitely want to get that straight in my head early than later.

Not that I don't understand military discipline and rank as a great equalizer to raw power and utility, but I just want to understand how invaluable or inconsequential we are overall.

Kiera still isn't the type to sit by while other people push her squad-mates around either way, but I'm just looking for a better understanding of our place in the whole set up.

Excellent question. All of the unit is either mutant, enhanced human, or absolute top tier human, training is two years minimum and is extensive, think any major nation's special forces.

The Brigade is a bit of a misnomer. It is small barely the size of a regiment and a light one at that. Your part of 2nd Battalion 2nd Company, in most of the companies in the battalion third and fourth are integrated support including intel as the battalion unit is expected to act independently. There are so many brushfires and so little time to put them all out.

You are just one squad in a company of other mutants. No one chose 'enhanced human' so far thus our only enhanced human is Sgt Singh, a Brit who sounds like a young Michael Caine and looks like a Bollywood star. The enhancement process is a hell of a thing. We have one specialist a Warrant Officer from 3rd Company the psionics/magic support company. She is a W1 (lowest rank) of Warrant officer but is in command of nothing, she gets paid the big bucks because she's a specialist at what she does. Everyone else is a Private First Class or E-3.

The enhanced humans like Steve Rogers and his friend are selected by their character rather than their physical capabilities. The few non-enhanced men are selected for their soldierly qualities and are either unsuited for the enhanced soldier process, or have elected to reject the offer. They are expected to be the kind of high-speed, low-drag operators you would see in the Army Ranger units, the Princess Pats, or the SAS.

The other soldiers in the day room including the woman are from another squad in your company all of them are roughly the same rank. All of them are part of the Devil's Brigade they are there because they have proven themselves capable and willing to get the job done which is go where they are ordered, kill the bad guys and come home.

Rank, seniority, reputation, all matters but if you can't take a little bull in the dayroom how in the world will they trust you when actual bullets are coming your way?

The Devil's Brigade is run by a WWII vet. He has zero time or tolerance for anything except getting the job done. No smoking signs are conspicuously ignored, the workplace is deliberately 'hostile', Sergeants (the backbone of any army) are constantly testing you to see if you can take the flack and keep going. You are no better or worse than any other bunch of FNG's etc you have no veterans in your squad other than Sgt Singh. (if we do have a vet in the group, you can be bumped in rank and become corporal X) assistant squad leader would be nice to have.

The poor guy who got spooked at the mention of Nazgul will probably find himself ridden so hard by the Sergeants that he quits or toughens up. Yeah, you're supposed to be at least wary of the senior NCOs but you're not supposed to lose your cool about it.

Your squad will mostly act alone. You guys will be the star of your own show, especially on mission. Back at base you're  just another bunch of soldiers. Your fellow soldiers will give you the same ration of shit they give everyone else. Your race, creed, appearance, and sexual preferences will be ruthlessly mocked. According to your fellow soldiers; Your mothers will be ugly, your significant other be cheating on you, your sister or brother will be exceedingly promiscuous, your choice in vehicles, food, and personal clothing will never be up to par. And that's just from the people who actually care about you. For instance, Bull-Girl will probably, no certainly get hazed by the other Native Americans in the unit.

The guys covered in field dirt should have probably gotten cleaned up first, but that and the two pogues (persons other than grunts) the 'support guys' is a clue that they were probably training together.

1). Is Nick Fury still Director?
2). In what sort of situations might SHIELD request the Devil’s Children?
3). If SHIELD and the unit try to pull rank on the other, who generally wins?
4). How much trust (or lacktherof) is afforded to SHIELD by the Devils Children?

Nick Fury is director of shield.
SHIELD never requests military involvement unless it weakens the military or strengthens shield.
The Devils children has a unique position, Shield tries to avoid conflict other than political with the Brigade. They are afraid of telepaths.
The Brigade trusts the Brigade, former Brigade the three militaries, and no one else in that order.

I am sorry for lack of posts on my end. Real life is being annoying again. I am going to sort the make a proper description page and hopefully make some posting in rp threads today but for planning of first mission you guys can assume that Victorio has a similar skill set with Black Widow but more techy.

I need to think a proper set of rules for the combat suit to avoid a gray goo scenario though.

Question or few, as I am trying to make sense of the situation.
1. We are on the way to the Moon, where Luna Ultra-Max is located, right?
2. How far is the prison from other Moon base(s)?
3. The prison is still operating as normal, and other inmates are secure, it is just the three that escaped?
4. The escapees are no longer in their cells, but could be in the prison or somewhere on the lunar surface? Assuming looking for a way to return to Earth?
5. Does the prison have vehicles capable of reaching Earth directly?

Did I misread anything? I am a bit confused who the civilians would be, if our target is the prison, there will be the stuff and other inmates, but those are far from civilian.

Sorry I was having oxygen problems took me a bit to recover.

The ultra max is inside a huge mixed public/ private base area called the Kennedy green zone. Fifty miles in radius, called the green zone because it is inside a force field.

The prison makes up about one square mile. After the news of the escape, communication was limited to official business then stopped. Nobody knows what is happening in the prison.

There are fifty thousand civilian a few military and many government employees in the zone.

There are a number of ports surrounding the zone but all traffic is constrained by the only opening in the force fields that protects the zone you have to travel via underground tunnel to the exact center of the zone and enter from below.

The prison has no vehicles capable of leaving the force fields. The ports do. Some better some worse

My neighborhood keeps losing power (I swear I'm not making this shite up) lol. There's a ton of construction going on around me that keeps taking it out.

We were out for two days, just got it back today.

Totally evil, Ling! Every street surrounding my sub is down to one lane, my street is closed due to construction and the power outage issue was from the only road that's not under construction :D

A couple of months ago, I had an outage that reoccured a few times. Turns out, someone had tried to run an illegal tap into the local supply, and in doing so, fried the generator so badly it was unsalvagable. The electricity company had to take the whole neighbourhood offline for hours to replace all the equipment. Because some people are idiots. Bad enough they tried to steal the power. They did it so badly, that not only did THEY not get any power, the whole neighbourhood lost it as well...

Oh geez, the things people do! I don't know how people even have the courage to try to tap into electricity ... it's electricity! I'd be so afraid that I'd fry myself.

Turns out with my outage (I have a fireman friend in my city) that it was a line that fell on a house, caused the house to catch fire AND two transformers blew. Oof.

Hi everybody. Copying this to all the games I am in, to save a little time. I am afraid my father died on Friday of last week. I am understandably a little shaken. I also have a huge amount to do in the aftermath, and hope people will understand if I take a day or two to get back on my feet and catch up!

I'd hoped it was going to be an opportunity to sort of RP among ourselves but then Grimy and his crew balled through, so to speak, and that went pretty sideways.

But wouldn't hurt to roleplay something on the side just to keep momentum? Maybe the group at a local bar or something? Just hanging out and bonding? I don't know much about army regulations but I assume we get weekend to ourselves? or no?

Technically the Day room thread could continue... as Sgt Singh entered after an unspecified amount of time.

You guys were great. I have had several severe health related issues and some of them affect my memory and cognition. I have to put this game on indefinite hiatus but I would love to restart it all with you when I am improved. You were a fantastic group. You really brought a great energy to the game short as it was.

Sorry, my health has really deteriorated. I'm putting this game on a longer hiatus than it already has. I truly apologize for that. Although, I do occasionally have pretty good days. I'll have to think about it. Probably best to restart rather than continue. It has been quite a long time.

I do truly understand, and you have my absolute sympathy. Health comes first. I hope you manage to pull through!
