Wyltz Pt 2: On Your Marks....Get Set....
The Vans
O'Henrix pulls away from the curb. Parket's van and the bike pull out right after.
The convoy begins to move down the street.
You head down the main drag. After about the second block, you notice people are coming out of the buildings. At first it's just a few strays. But when you hit block four, the volume has started to grown.
People are pouring off the rooftops. It's like word is spreading that the pumping stations aren't going to be coming online any time soon.
At the end of the fifth block, people are waving at the van. Some start running after it. People are screaming at you to stop and let them on board.
Just then the biker gets taken down. Some bystander came up with a length of pipe and managed to swing it into the guy's helmet. As the bike tumbles, the crowd starts to lunge for the bike, a free for all erupting.
"Shit!" O'Henrix cusses. Up ahead, there was an accident. A truck passing through the intersection seems to have lost control and plowed into another vehicle. That lead to another collision behind it.
The vans are going to be too large to squeeze through. And you doubt they're strong enough to push those wrecks aside.
O'Henrix smacks on the nav comm. It gives two alternate routes.
Taking the right will let you hook over onto a street that parallels this main drag for a while. You can cross back over to the main drag from there.
Taking the alley to the left looks like it's some kind of 'short cut' the locals use. The nav comm has it mapped out, but it's kind of twisty and not straight forward. No way you can memorize it.
There are the sounds of shots from behind. Parket's people are shooting to keep the crowds at bay. The bike rider is limping forward, grabbing at the back of Parket's van.
The crowds are obviously trying to decide whether it's worth charging at the vans.
Silver and Rig
Welcome back.
Silver, Station Security is squawking with each other. I think they're going to figure it out soon.
Engineer Rig: I am working on a restore of Mainframe. Also, there's a report of system compromise to the bug. I think it's within acceptable parameters.
Bigger issues are those locks on the landing gear. Those have either got to be cut off, released by Station Security, or we cut the landing gear from inside.
Another problem: they've got a manual lock on the lift. Once we lift off, we're going to have to find another way besides the ship elevator to exit the starport.
On the bright side, we are fueled up!
Commander Ledo's group seems to be stalled. They hit an intersection that was blocked by an accident.
