In our context I think we might have a number of Magi who hold commissioned officer ranks. Maybe Sarneth has purchased commissions.

Just food for though seeing the fleet and defense forces being fleshed out in the set up thread.

It's almost impossible to get ahead in local or Protectorate military without being a mage. There are different police for mages and citizens, with mages in both groups. Mages who police other mages will, as you might expect, require specialized training. Sarneth can have purchased commissions, if somebody declares them.

I've been trying to coherently organize the magic use part of the char gen for the last several days.

Cryptic Player:
My next possible post has something to do with land masses, or rather it is intended to, but the presence of a map might cause me to rethink that.

There is no map, and there will likely not be a GM-generated graphical map for at least several months of IRL time. I'm more of a Venn Diagram/outline kind of person for settings with sub-orbital flights and spaceships.

Re: OOC Table Talk

Making a few adjustments in orange to shift a few things in line with the original world dev rules. I believe a few other players still need to bring their contributions up to 4.

Since we seem to have a few different ideas about what Factions meant, and they're all too cool to demand you revamp at this point, if you've declared a Named Organization, please feel free to edit that post and identify the role you wanted them to have in politics.

I need to count it all up, but round 3 will most likely be only be Resources or "Factions," which I'm trying to come up with a better name for. "Politically Important Demographics" maybe?

I'll post a summary of what's been declared so far before we start the last round (and after everybody has posted 4 declarations).

As in "the neuromancer" ... as in the creator of the cyberpunk genre? :)

I haven't read him yet to be honest, but it's part of my (very long) reading list ;)

He wrote a series of short stories before Neuromancer. "The Winter Market" and "Fragements of a hologram rose" in that were eventually part of that series "Burning Chrome" also one of the titles in the short series deal with dreams and electronic elements related there to.

He does and is currently working on it. Shelter duties has been keeping him occupied... well, that, and having the city bus break down two days ain a row... public transport in the U.S. is not for the faint of heart.

Yes, as the VP of a CIL, that's a Center for Independent Living, I'm busy beginning of jan, and then as a sub-director with no partner, or kids, I take on a bigger load to cover for those that do have families. Febuary though I'm usually pretty free as a consequence. To be honest though, October is often the busiest   month for me of the year, because  the U.S. Accounting Office has set that month as the federal operating cycle. Congress couldn't quite decide and so the GAO did it for them.

Re: OOC Table Talk

I think i may have outdone myself a little on the calender suggestions, but i wanted to have something to show that we weren't just playing 'Earth in Space'.

For ease of reference, 4 Sarneth days would be equivalent to 5 Earth days.

I’m eager to see what our Munificent Leader makes of these ... ive been deliberately vague, but feeling I should have been more baroque now!!

How many entries are needed from each of us?

On the subject of the latest entries:

Just two words from me : Awe and some ;)

The calendar thingy with the 3 seasons is nice and, combined with the landmass entry just before it, well, I may be looking for a software to help create a map.

By the way, how was the Comorian map created? Because we know have a few nice tidbits of information to help us build it, just saying ;)

Re: OOC Table Talk

*clicks tongue*

Not sure myself, i know most of the NPC polities were actually named when i needed filler for the First Comorian Cup though, but i don't know where the original map came from.

Oh, fun fact: I actually got the three seasons idea from this:

https://www.csiro.au/en/Resear...enous-calendars/Tiwi

It's got a larger version of that chart as a downloadable .pdf too, if you're looking for some added ecological effects (like when harvest time would be etc.)

Re: OOC Table Talk

For the Comorian map, I used Fractal Terrains 3 from ProFantasy Software; sadly I may have lost the originals and seed in a nasty disk failure that corrupted my backups ... will be trying to recover in 2020. It was then exported to SVG and adjusted to include things less easily included there, by virtue of my skills in SVG and not in FT3. I'm eagerly awaiting Project Deios for some much shinier world-building tools

Fine.

I'll go for a technical knock out and quit now....
what?

I can't do that? All right, all right, I'll come up with something. Let's see... figuratively of course... since I was just through a court case that was handled poorly, let's do this.
