Re: Out of Character General
The long and the short of the Warder bond is it connected two people together in a way that allowed them to sense each other's emotions, direction, and general distance from each other. On the Aes Sedai's part they could tell when their Warder was in pain or injured but it didn't have a notable effect beyond an emotional response depending on their relationship to them. On the Warder's part, they could feel the pain when their Aes Sedai is in pain or injured and the worse it gets the more it effects them. So much so that the nearer to death the Aes Sedai gets the closer to a frenzied rage the Warder might slip into to try and save them. They can try to exercise control against that impulse but in game terms it'd be a will save to resist going into a frenzy with zero regard for their own life in the effort to save their Aes Sedai. There are a couple of examples I think of a Warder going into a blind rage when their Aes Sedai dies and fighting to their last breath even if they had the opportunity to withdraw.

There were positives and negatives for the Warder. It basically meant pledging your life to the White Tower and to a specific woman who may or may not have any romantic interest in you and will most likely outlive you (and if not you'd likely soon follow). It did give minor physical boons in addition to the above, however. Came with a cool light-bending cloak. Training with some of the best, most diverse warriors in the known world.

Sorry for being quiet so long. Had to take my youngest to the ER. Between that, work, general holiday craziness and other things, RPOL ended up on the back-burner for a few days here. I'll get wrapping up the last of my character creation pretty soon.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Re: Out of Character General
OK, that seems cool. I need to know if we're doing that before we start, if we decide to go that route It'll make a difference throughout the whole game. =^)If noone wants to commit to it, we can leave it as an option further down the line. Any takers, besides scout, on the warder bond? Ranger => Druid bond would obviously make the most sense, in my eyes.

No problem Sugarra! We all have lives, hope your child is alright.

Re: Out of Character General
My thoughts are with you, Sugarra. Hope everything is well.

I am game for doing the bond with either Garallda or Sugarra. Or you could really mess with Scout's head and bond him to both of them. It never worked that way in the books, but this isn't them. In the books, an Aes Sedai could bond multiple Warders but a Warder was never bonded to more than one Aes Sedai. The bond could be transferred, though. Fun fact, transferred without the Warder's consent.

Other fun facts about the bond, some Warders became Warders as a means to save their life from severe injury as the bond has an energizing effect. Under normal circumstances a person can't be bonded as a Warder against their will but if they are weak enough and unconscious they can be.

To quote some commentary on the bond:
"The Warder bond has distinct benefits for both parties. The Warder gains greater stamina and physical prowess, a greater capacity to resist evil, the ability to sense shadowspawn at a distance, and greater resistance to injury (totally aside from the proximity of his Aes Sedai, who is probably able to Heal his wounds using the Power). The Aes Sedai, for her part, gains a bodyguard, confidant and ally-in-schemes who is intrinsically linked to her and can be compelled, to a certain extent, through the bond. Both parties are able to sense the other's general location, physical well-being and, to some extent, emotional state.

When the bond with a Warder is broken he rarely survives. He completely loses the will to live and will almost always die attempting to avenge his Aes Sedai. The breaking of the bond is also terrible for Aes Sedai, creating so much emotional turmoil for them that often Aes Sedai take many years to bond another."

Alright, I'm going prepare the prologue, should have it up 36/48 hours. We'll see how the Warder thing pans out. We can decide to do that later.

Hey guys! Prologue is up! Get to it in the next few days, if you can't I'll RP for you to keep the story moving.

I'm super excited to play with you guys. Let's have a blast.

Once again, deepest apologies I was late on the Prologue.

Re: Out of Character General
Since it is clear that we are having a hard time keeping up with the daily posting (Overly ambitious on my part I now see) I think 1 post every 3/4 days is more appropriate. Post more if possible! I wish we could sit together and play for hours, but alas, there is a reason we are all playing in PbP games.

Let me know if there are any objections to this. What do you think of the tempo? General thoughts?

It's a tough one. Usually daily isn't a problem for me, but until the end of this month am swamped at work. The problem is, scaling back too much could mean it goes lower on people's priorities to post for.

I'm going to wait for Sugarra to post that he's approached actually, in case we've lost him.

DM - not sure how much back and forth you want between Garallda and Scout before you update? I can keep going, but don't want to step on your toes.

Re: Out of Character General
I messaged Sugarra, I'll give them a bit more time. We'll advertise for a new player on Monday, sorry about this Laucian! Hopefully they show up and we can go on! Otherwise, finding players is typically not hard on rpol.

This game is far more narrative than technical, as technicalities are hard to manage in this medium, so be as 'back and forth' as necessary. I'll try to update before anyone goes too far or it feels forced.

Laucian, would you rather I RP'd for Sugarra, or do you want to wait?

In reply to Dungeon Master (msg # 67):

Some images won't load to rpol from the site they reside on. I usually just copy them to imgur in my own images and pull the direct link from that. It always works here.

I can wait. This next week at work is going to be horrible, but after that will be a lot easier for me to post.

Re: Out of Character General
If Scout doesn't show back up, maybe we can pick this up with Laucian and Garallda? Swap Laucian for Scout at the point she's at or something?

Although the GM hasn't been around since Jan 29th either...

Maybe if they come back. I'd love to keep this game going.
