Man, I haven't kept track of DTU per week, I'll have to figure out what the last time it was I added it. Things were a bit quiet here for a while and I forgot.

I thought we only got DTU from adventures.

Alrighty, with both of my characters' quests seeming to be coming to a conclusion soon(tm), I've been looking ahead at a potential spending spree for my hoarded gold and DTUs.

I plan to have Tiria swap from Bladesinger to the Chronurgy or War Mage archetype when she levels up so will be looking to get some armor training which made me look into Malkus' offerings. I'd welcome anyone wanting to join the class and split the cost ;)

Malkus's Training at the Bastion Defense Academy
Price: 780 gp, split amongst the class. Classes can accommodate up to four students. Learn on your own, or bring some friends.
25 DTUs minus lowest INT mod for trainer or students (Tears is +4)

Insight - Tiria (room for 3 others if they wanna split gold cost)

Armor Training: Light, Medium + Shield, or Heavy - Stay Safer, Get Hit Less (cost is 1164 gp; requires 37 DTUs base)
Light Armour Training - Tiria (room for 3 others if they wanna split gold cost)
Medium Armour + Shield Training - Tiria (room for 3 others if they wanna split gold cost)

I'm also looking at training some other skills that Malkus isn't offering so if anyone wants to earn some gold training Tears/Victor in any of the following let me know, otherwise it'll be scrolls of instant learning purchased from Hexia :D

Tiria wants to learn (+4 INT): Athletics (could learn from Victor but feels cheesy), History, Investigation, Medicine and Stealth. Priority would be the intelligence skills and stealth if cost/dtus become limited for Tears.

Victor wants to learn (-1 INT): Arcana (could learn from Tiria but feels cheesy), Medicine, Perception (could learn from Tiria but feels cheesy), Religion and Stealth. Vic is unlikely to run short of gold or DTUs as he isn't crafting like Tears is. He could also be trained up in a set tools if someone needs an apprentice to help them craft stuff :D

Victor will also be doing the running a business roll again for the Arena so will hopefully be able to put up some bounties for monster hunting/capture, pay for player characters to make improvements to the site and possibly have some prizes for competitions.
If anyone has any idea they want to pitch, let me know. Last time I looked at organising some competitions there was limited interest so I'm open to ideas of what you might like to see/participate in.

On the one hand, I see what you mean. On the other hand, while you aren't really spending any money that way, you aren't gaining any, either. I'll have to see what the Narrator thinks about it before we decide whether or not to allow it.

I mean, that's why I need Perception Training.

Since you can sell your alternate character items you craft, we've decided there's no reason you can't sell them training. The DTU cost is the important part, and this ruling doesn't change that.

It feels right to pay/train/interact with other PCs as a first choice over an alt but it is good to know that it is an option if none are available.

So far I will have training from Malkus

If no PCs teach a desired skill, I'll have Tears teach Vic Arcana at 26 DTUs each (happy to teach other PCs while I'm at it) and then pick up remaining skills with Hexia's Scrolls of Instant Training.

How does training someone work (I'm short on time to look up threads at the moment)? Just being trained in a skill?

Izayah is trained in Investigation, Perception and Stealth, among a few other skills. He might be persuaded to help out his fellow beings.

So assuming a base cost of 25 DTUs -> 1250 gold cost to run the class (same as Hexia's Scroll). I am assuming that this gold is spent on training materials etc. and disappears into the ether.
Malkus's courses run at a discount, presumably to attract multiple students for the one training session which will bring in more gold for the same 25 DTU base cost to train them.

If you're willing to do a Stealth training class Vic and Tears will both do it and chip in 780 gp each, but it will cost you 26 DTUs to run the training due to Victor's low INT. I think that puts you at a 260 gp profit for 26 DTUs (you also gain 1xp per DTU you spend).
If you get up to two more students then whatever they chip in is pure profit.

Likewise Tiria would take you up on the Investigation class as well but if it's just her the 780gp would be a running at a loss.

Just have to be trained, and someone has to pay the DTU costs. The cost is 25DTU, modified by the Int mod of the least intelligent person involved. And if multiple people are being trained by the same instructor, each spends the the DTU, it is not divided (though just like with crafting, DTU can be paid by either party.) However, each student's DTU cost is only compared to the teacher's to determine their cost, not the other students.

Example: Teacher with 14 INT, 4 students with 8, 12, 14, and 18 INT.
Teacher pays 26DTU
Student 1 pays 26DTU
Student 2 pays 24DTU
Students 3 and 4 each pay 23DTU.
If anyone involved comes up short, one of the others can donate theirs.

Also, if either Tiria or Victor teach the other a skill, Tiria's player pays a total of 52DTU, divided as they wish between the two characters (Assuming no other student with <8 INT is being taught at the same time.)

I mean...I have enough DTUs for training a couple of classes and I haven't re-calculated my DTUs since...heh, April 2021 it looks like. So I have no shortage of those. Fine to do so once he's back in town if asked.
