Re: [INN] The Frosthide Inn

When Jankar noticed that he wasn't the only one who wanted to do something about the goblins, he looked over to the girl and sized her up for a moment. But it was her words that struck him the most. "Looks like people are already grouping up at the gate. If you want to help, I suggest you come along." With that, the former military man would make his way over to the gate to talk to the group and the guards, though he was fully prepared to go after the goblins while their tracks were still fresh.

Re: [INN] The Frosthide Inn

The group had already left. The guards said they went to follow goblin tracks, and the girl went after them. You can see them in the light they carry, not too far ahead.

OOC: Chloe joined a patrol group already in progress. You can join them (with the light sources they're walking around with, you won't even have to try to track them,) but a 6-on-3 fight against goblins probably won't be very fun or rewarding, especially at your level.

Re: [INN] The Frosthide Inn

After returning to Smith's Gambit, Chloe approaches Darla, briefly summarizes events and takes a room at the inn for herself and Julius - preferably a single room with two seperate beds, otherwise two seperate rooms - mentioning on the side (with glowing eyes and a wide grin) just how incredibly cozy the place actually is.

Chloe also voices concerns about Frederick and the wine. Her horse doesn't deserve to be out in the cold throughout the night and she is even more uncomfortable about leaving her wares outside with nobody looking out for them. Heaving five barrels up the stairs is not just awkward and noisy but also pretty rude.

The next day, no matter the solution, Chloe accepts Galenna Keenbellow's job offer. Unless the exploration trip is planned to last for more than just a day, she will return to Darla to rent the room(s) for the next day as well.

Re: [INN] The Frosthide Inn

OOC: The cartography quest should take about 5 days. If you rent a room for that whole period, you can store your wares there. Someone can take the barrels to your room for you. You can stable your horse for 1gp a day, feeding included.

Re: [INN] The Frosthide Inn

In reply to Conspirator (msg # 100):

I should probably pay up now.

Past night before going to bed, this is what occured: The door to the inn opened and like a weasel slipping through a crack, Chloe stepped in. She was the first of the group to make it here and she was not in the mood to draw any attention.

"One room for the night, please." In her befuddled state she held up two fingers. "One room with seperate beds would be best for me and my companion."

"Of course, no problem", said Darla. "One night is three gold pieces per person, meals included."

Chloe slanted her head. "Do I get a discount for eating less?"

Darla squinted at the girl.

"Fine, fine." Chloe released a defeated sigh. "I'm not in the mood to haggle. He and me pay seperately. Julius can take care of himself for once. But I can take care of Frederick. That big thing at the side is a stable, right?"

"Sure. This inn is for the weary and the hungry. Be they a humanoid or animal."

"How sweet of you." Chloe radiated an energy that, for unexplicable reasons, could only be descibed with the word 'squirrel'. "I'll have to get back on you for the duration but we'll work something out."

-3gp for one night, -5gp for Frederick being taken care of for the next five days

Odilon enters the inn and requests a room for the night. He isn't very talkative, his work ethic of late has left him exhausted. He needed to let his body rest and heal, something it was slower at now at his age, even with the warmth of Hyx to heal him.

Malkus enters the inn and approaches the counter. He approaches the desk, and gives a faint smile.
"I'd like a room, please, I'll grab a meal once I've gotten some sleep. Than you kindly."

He heads to his room for some much-needed recovery.

Re: [INN] The Frosthide Inn

Odilon graciously thanks Darla and staff member who assist him up to his room. He doffs his armor and uses the water basin to wash his face, hands, and hair. He looks up when he is finished washing at the bruising on his arms and chest and shakes his head, "You're playing a young man's game Odi" he then makes his way over to the bed, pulling the covers down and climbing between them. He was hungry but he was more tired and without much effort he slipped off into sleep.

The next morning he awakes, his body is stiff and it takes several minutes of stretching to work out some of the larger kinks. He sat on the edge of his bed and counted his coin, he knew he would need more to get the necessary supplies to build his tavern temple to Hyx. He got down on his knees and said his devotions, allowing his physical and spiritual self to be exalted in prayer; for Odi this was always the most peaceful part of the day.

Once finished with his devotions he climbed to his feet and donned his armor once more, strapping his weapons down, and grabbing up his pack before heading downstairs for breakfast.

Bruised, battered, and more than a little roughed up, Malkus barely has the energy to strip off his armor before collapsing into a dream-filled sleep. After several long hours, he awakens, refreshed. Before getting on with his day, he recites several devotions to Helm, asking for His support with that day's ventures. After being warmed with the radiance of His strength, Malkus can feel a tingling sensation flow through his being. After meditating on the significance, he offers a prayer of thanks.

He packs up his belongings and heads out of his room and down to the common area, where he spots Odilon. He pulls up a chair next to his companion and sits down to a well-earned meal.

"Good morning and well met, friend. How is the servant of Hyx on this fine day?"

"It's amazing what some rest can accomplish. I feel healthy as an ox. Chloe had mentioned something about a cartographer; after I break my fast I think I'll look into what that's all about. It certainly sounds intriguing.

How about you? Doing anything in particular?"

Xannan wishes to rent a room for the night, and thus have a long rest, with breakfast !

It doesn't take long for Xannan to find the gnomish woman as she sits eating a meal at a table in the cafeteria area of the Frosthide. She was smudged with ink as usual and her rather large pack wasn't far from her filled with rolled up parchment, ink, and many other things. Surely this must be the woman. Her chair was facing toward where Xannan was coming from with her back towards the food counter. As he approached she looked up, smiled at him and gave him a cheery, "Good morning!"

"Yes, hello! I've seen the notice concerning the escorts needed.
Escorts to where, exactly? Is it a long journey?
I don't mind, I'm used to being outdoors and on the move.
Any room for another explorer?"

Malkus talks over the din of the dining room in answer to the elf.
"Oh, aye, I was thinking to."
Malkus motions at his food with a wave of his hand.
"I've got some important business to finish up here with Odilon, and I'll need a few supplies, but then, 'yes.'" Can't let you folks have all the fun without me now, can I?"
With polite enthusiasm, Malkus returns to the task at hand. He pauses between bites to address the cleric.
"Pardon my nosiness, but what are you raising funds for?"

Odilon nods to Enialis indicating his interest, but then returns his focus to Malkus. "A Tavern temple dedicated to Hyx the Lord Father of hearths, adventurers, warmth, and good cheer. He has been my patron for many years now and now as I am nearing the end of my service he has asked that I dedicate myself to spreading his warmth to this pioneered land."

A grin washes over Odilon's face as he talks of the temple, "I will lay the hearth myself" he pulls a small leather bound book from the side pouch of his backpack and lays it out on the table, opening it and flipping through the pages are sketch after sketch of the tavern, it's decoration, layout, but when he finally settles on a page, or rather two, the sketch shows a massive 4 opening hearth in the center of the tavern. The stone masonry is complex and it is easily two stories. You can the chimney from the first floor narrows to the center of the second story and surrounding the chimney on all sides on the second floor are four individual hearths who's chimney's rejoin the main chimney as it exits the top of the structure.

"Why escorts thru part of the Rimewood that hasn't be discovered yet. As for how long, the journey is normally about a five day trek. And of course I have room for another adventurer! I'd be most appreciative for the help. I can't very well go out there on my own, I wouldn't last long." The gnome woman grinned then returned to the task at hand. "I'm sure you've read the add I posted. Gather whatever supplies you'll need and when you're ready come back and meet me here."

Re: [INN] The Frosthide Inn

Two more people head down the stairs and appear in the doorframe to the dining room. One of them is a young man in a green coat with a tuft of frizzy black hair on his head that seems to cover his eyes and forehead. He looks to the person next to him who is of course Chloe, dressed in a comfortable looking white blouse. Her hazel hair is neatly combed and she is much more relaxed than yesterday.

"Heeeeeeeey!" She waves aggressively at the group with her free hand. The other one is carrying a small plate with some salted meat, onions and a loaf of bread. "May I introduce to you guys my good friend Julius Swift?" She indicates the young man with her open palm as if he was the product of an advertisement.

"Um, good morning." He was certainly up to his manners.

"You must be Galenna Keenbellow", Chloe says as she notices the gnome lady. "You may call me Chloe. I was about to look for you. I hope these gentlemen haven't taken my spot yet?"

This morning, the inn is serving a hash of salted meat, potatoes, onions, peppers and spices, along with bread, and the usual brown ale. Sadly, there are no eggs, as the only domesticated birds nearby are familiars-- which don't lay eggs... and aren't really birds, for that matter.

Well I hope you brought enough rations for 10 days since that's how long we'll travel and head back, which reminds me to resupply some rations for myself. Excuse me, I'll be at Jessop's Goods." he says after he finishes his breakfast and heads out of the inn.
