[INN] The Frosthide Inn

A large, two-story building, with a sturdy door and heavy shutters on the windows. The shingle over the door says "The Frosthide Inn," and depicts a white pelt. Smoke always drifts from the chimneys, and the smells of smoked meats, stews, and fresh bread greet you when you step inside. The inside is warm, and has a counter across from the door as well as a few comfortable seats by the fireplace. Through an open doorway, a dining room can be seen, with a few large tables and its own fireplace.

Cael decided to get in out of the cold and arrange for a room after his long day on patrol.

"I'd like a room, please," he said to the innkeeper, shaking the snow off of him. "How much?" he asked, clearly tired and unused to this kind of physical activity.

The innkeeper smiles at Cael and says, "Three gold pieces. Meals are included just after dawn, at noon, and dusk. You'll hear a bell when they're ready."

"Reasonable enough," Cael said, happy that his room and board would be taken care of, and handing over the three gold in exchange. "Name's Cael, by the way. Nice to meet you, ma'am," he said, only then remembering his manners.

Dorian enters trying to leave most of the snow outside. He shakes himself at the door and steps inside, approaching the Innkeeper. "I need a room for one night. I'll be gone in the early moring too so if you could arrange breakfast for before dawn.... I'm fine with cold chicken, bread and some warmed up soup."

I'll be gone before dawn and need only 1 room or the night.

Darla thought it over for a moment, then said, "well, I can keep something on ice from tonight's supper, and have the cook's boy put it on the fireplace for you before they start preparing breakfast. The room and the meal together comes out to 3 gp. If you make it back before suppertime tomorrow, that's covered too, but we won't save none for you unless you pay for the next day."

Dorian nods and hands three gold pieces to the woman. “Fair enough. I’ll have my dinner here before retiring  for the night.” He’ll eat in the common area before heading for his room.

Several long tables are arranged with benches, and food is collected at a counter, cafeteria style. It is simple fare, meat pie, rabbit stew with mushrooms, tubers, and onions, and various seasonings. It is served with fresh oat bread, and a tankard of dark, strong ale. A large group of burly men, many of whom look related, take up the two tables closest to the fireplace, and don't pay any attention to newcomers, but talk among themselves in a strange dialect of common. Other workers, adventurers and guardsmen relax and chat with each other.

Spark enters having made the short trek from Smith's Gambit and walk up to the counter. "A very good afternoon to you. My name is Spark, and this is an associate of mine," he gestures to the blue-skinned man.

"I would like to secure one chamber for the use of both of us. I have no need for a bed, but wouldn't mind resting beneath these fortified timberworks." His eyes momentarily wander to admire the rough but functional style of housing in this pioneer settlement.

He then produces two pieces of gold and places them on the counter.

The woman takes a look at Spark, and at his coins, and says, in a tone that brooks no argument. "Good afternoon. I'm Darla, and this is my inn. Room and board is three gold a night, per person. If you only pay for one room, only one of you can use the cafeteria, but as long as you don't make too much noise or break anything, you can have as many overnight guests in your room as you want. Long as you don't hurt my business, it ain't none o' my business!"

"Oh, I'm sorry." Spark pulls up a third coin and joins it with the others on the counter. "Here you go. I don't mind not eating, doesn't do much good for my internals." He quips in a jovial voice. "Although I must say it smells great in here, the food must be quite tasty!"

Tidelan was still a bit flushed from embarassment, and now some surprise with the nice, but odd creature he'd made allies with for the night. After Spark payed, Tidelan remembered something and searched through his coin pouch, which was noticably light, and handed Spark a single gold coin.

"Consider this a down payment..." the man said once they were out of earshot, although his voice was not confident, as he wasn't very learned in financial transactions... being a bit of an isolationist his whole life didn't lead to lots of purchases... neither did living in a forest for some months.

After acquiring the keys to his room, Tidelan spent the rest of the night trying to make healing potions with his remaining supplies.

Cael smiled at Darla. "You know, you should talk to some of my teachers. They'd probably have a conniption hearing you call me 'polite.'"

"Anyway, thanks. I'm just going to park my things in my room and get some shuteye. It's been a long day, after all."

After Enialis completed his patrol and got paid by Smith, he decided to go to the Frosthide Inn to rest and start writing a couple of unfinished spells that he couldn't have time to master,"Hello, I'm looking to rent a room. Oh, and do you allow familiars to be in the rooms?" he says, gesturing to the hawk, Fion, on his shoulder. Hoping their isn't a no-pet policy.
