Re: [SHOP] Hexia's Shop
Eithan bowed his head in gratitude. "[Language unknown: Ticeveson andkorill], Hexia, and well met."
Wasting no more time, Eithan set up in the laboratory section of Hexia's shop, putting down his pack and moving the brazier into an open area of floor. The soft glow of Detect Magic fell from his eyes as he began to focus on this new casting. Consulting with his spellbook at each step, he placed a small handful of coals into the brazier, prestigitated them alight alight, and began to feed in the herbs and insence, just a little bit at a time.
With gestures and incantations he held the smoke in place in the air above the brazier, a column of hung smoke and fragrant scent. With gesture and incantation he wove the smoke into the patterns of the thread of the weave, gently nudging here and there with the tip of his wand. He would occasionally pause to add more coal, adjust the intake of air, or add more of the herbs and incense, doting carefully over the spell.
After a little more than an hour, the dormant threads of conjuration and celestial weave hung visible in the air to all, and Eithan wiped a small beat of sweat from his brow. He leaned up and dove his hands into the threaded smoke, and with incantation and gesture of fingers, the smoke-lined threads of the weave tangled up into a nest. With a final word of power, Eithan cast his hands out - suddenly, all the threads and smoke were sucked into the glowing heart of the tangle. With the sound of a caw and a flash of light, a raven flew out of the center of the spell, and begain to circle the interior of the shop.
Eithan glowed with delight. "Korbin, it's so good to see you again!" Eithan held out his arm, and the raven landed on the offered perch. With his free hand, Eithan shook the cloth free of the dried meat he'd taken from last night's dinner, and began to feed the bird, making soft clicking noises.
With the meal finished, the burd curled its head down to nuzzle Eithan on the cheek. "Good to see you!" the raven mimicked in Eithan's own voice, making contented little clicking noises of its own as Eithan scratched him on the back of his head.
Looking up for the first time since he started the ritual, he noticed Hexia again. Realizing the spectacle he was making of himself, Eithan coughed gently and rolled his shoulders back, trying to regain something of a wizardly composure.
"I lost him on the road, you see - we were attacked by these desert creatures while travelling through Darua... And I'm over-explaining again, aren't I? In any case, thank you very much for the use of your lab.
"I'm needing to head back to Smith's Gambit tomorrow morning to speak with Governor Smith, but it would be a shame to waste an entire day idle while I wait. Is there any way I could repay you for your kindness with my services for the day? I'm more of a book-keeper than a shop-keeper, but there must be a way I can make myself useful around here, if you can find a a use for me?"
Korbin tilted his head to the side with a caw, and the celestial bird-spirit gave the very distinct impression he was trynig to roll his eyes.
