Chelsie will hang out towards the back, she's a bit squishy and eldritch blast has a long range.

I'm comfortable in front or guarding the flank. I'll go up front unless there are lots of other non-squishy-types up there.

Also, hi everyone!

Back of the queue. Out of combat Korbin is perched on Eithan's backpack and keeps watch for anything sneaking up behind.

Eithan has proficiency in Perception, Survival and Stealth. +4 to each. He can take a crack at tracking, or if GM's cool with it Eithan can potentially Help someone else track to get them advantage.

I'm guessing 100 feet isn't enough for us to shadow them and go unnoticed, so not sure about using Korbin to track, but we could send Korbin ahead to keep an eye on them so we get an early warning if they double back to try and ambush us.

Thoughts?

The plan seems sound as can be. I'll hang back and be ready with eldritch blast. I'm saving my spell slot for healing (although Chelsie doesn't actually understand her magic yet).

Sounds good!

GMs: What's the etiquette here with pre-emptive rolling?

In RL DnD I always wait for a GM to tell me to make a roll because sometimes, if I prepare and RP well enough, GMs just let me get away with my IC nonsense without making me roll for it. :)

What's the GM preference here though? Should I be pre-emptively making rolls that I think the GM may find useful to just keep things moving? Or should I hold off until prompted?

Example here would be: Should I have just gone ahead and rolled Survival with advantage for tracking, and a stealth roll, as I'm expecting that's what you'll be wanting? Or hang off until you specifically request it?

Yes, I was curious about your rolling preferences as well. I rolled persuasion earlier in the interest of expediting things, but in live play I wouldn't normally want a player to roll a check unless a roll was explicitly called for by the DM.

Roll in advance, please, but we reserve the right to ignore it if we don't believe it would be applicable (if you have an applicable skill with the same modifier, we'll probably use the roll anyway.) Note there's not much point in making perception checks, however, unless you see an actual clue that something is hiding nearby.

Azu, you have to declare that your performing the Help action before the result of the roll is revealed. Would you like to help Adam with his stealth, instead?

That's all of us with stealth rolls except Littlejohn, who hasn't logged in since 19th Dec.

Probably just busy with holiday stuff, which is fair, I was too until recently.

I think I'll leave him out for now, and when/if he returns, he can just show up behind you (he seems to get lost easily, eh?) That way you won't have to share the XP if he ends up a no-show.

Note, the bandits are surprised, so everyone can take an action, and you get advantage on attack rolls.

Sleep works in ascending order of current hit points. If GMs let attacks hit before Sleep spells, it'd stretch the usefulness of the spells.

It'd be a bit unkind (and unfun) if the GMs made your attack hit someone who'd fallen unconscious after the spells landed. 😋

[OOC]Super Awesome Team of Destiny! OOC

I wouldn't make your attacks target sleeping opponents unless you said you wanted them to.

Sai and Eithan, the sleep spells were your actions during the "surprise" round. I need

Adam's and Sai's initiative (note: readying an action uses your reaction, doesn't change your initiative.)

Azu, delaying your turn isn't a valid action. If you're readying an action, you need to declare what, and under what conditions.

Yes (unless the enemies kill you,) but you won't necessarily have advantage anymore. Of course, if you change your mind, you have a bit of time to edit your post.

I thought that you and I were waiting for the next round of combat to resolve up to the goblins before posting. :P

GM: Are you expecting a post from me too before going ahead?
