Re: [Battle Arena] Tidelan's Home and Fighting Pit
Stopped suddenly by Victor's words and then by the opposing team's surrender, something strange happens.
Ursine-Tidelan violently jerks at first... The angles and vectors are a little too clean however, as if he was puppet who had just had his strings yanked taunt...
Then as the enemy surrenders, the bear's face contorts into an expression of unclear emotion, each muscle on the face seems to contract and expand independently... The whole body soon follows as the transformation gets more and more violent...
In fact, the impossible reshaping of flesh and bones becomes so intense, that Tidelan is momentarily held off the ground as his bear form drops...
As he accommodates his new size and drops the last few feet onto the ground, his feet hit flat and he is already in a stance with his spear pointed downward and over his shoulder, in a flashy victory pose that could easily be transitioned into one ready for combat.
Lastly, he relaxes his muscles and bows his head to the opposing team, "I do feel many guilt. I did get... lost in the fight. Still in this arena, it can be hard to know all." the once-again humanoid creature seems to be expressing some form of apology towards getting confused midbattle.
Nodding with Wightvane as the dragonborn expresses that the opponents fought well, Tidelan loudly affirms with a gruff aizuchi that almost sounds like clearing his throat.
After Carmen speaks, a somewhat proud smile appears on his face and he accepts the compliment without words, then changes to a stoic expression and adds, "I too do not desire to ever fight the magic of you, also not the magic of Tiria, and also not the magic of Wightvane. To have your fighting power stopped, is to lose the fight."
Turning his head and body, Tidelan addresses the crowd, "The second tournament of Smith's Gambit now ends! The first team wins! I desire, that you many go again to your many lifes, with the knowing that the powerful men and powerful women that did fight here this day, do also fight for you many and for this land!"
After the fight ended and the participants had shared whatever pleasantries they wished, Tidelan would find and speak to Victor. "Greetings, Victor. I desire to speak of your words from before." Tidelan announced softly.
"Do know that but they did make my mind good again, they were not right." Tidelan doesn't seem upset, but he has a very serious expression.
"Please, let me say to you of the truths of the Sylvan?" Tidelan asked earnestly while slightly lowering his head. It was odd, the genasi never specifically said 'please' or 'thank you', even though he seemed to know the phrases themselves... He always expressed his emotions of a situation instead. This must have been a serious consideration for the druid.
If he got affirmation, Tidelan would smile and nod his head, and then begin to weave his tale, "I will not tell you all that I know of the sylvan. It is too many for now. So, I will say just of the 'Sylvan Oath' that you have seen from me."
"Know this, Victor; To those of Annwn, there is two truths: The honor and the heart." Tidelan continued, "The Sylvan Oath is a truth of the honor. To make Sylvan Oath is to make a perfect law. You can not betray a Sylvan Oath."
Tidelan turned his gaze very intently on Victor now, his eyes hardening away from whatever place that he drew all this lore that he had never learned, just begun to know, "But, you must know this. Honor is not the same as heart. Where your heart is your true desire, your honor is your true doings. Where your heart is a prison your desires create for you, your honor is a prison you create by your self."
Finally, Tidelan explains his reasoning for sharing all this, "Do think again of my Sylvan Oath. The words were "In this false battle, I, Tidelan Wavyrus, swear Sylvan Oath to aid you, Victor Iustica, if you fall."". I never did make a Sylvan Oath in the tournament. But, my heart knows that I would die before I killed countrymen in the arena!"
Tidelan's face is hard, as if holding back both anger and tears, "Know that I did betray no Sylvan Oath; because there was no Sylvan Oath for I to betray. To the countrymen who hear your words and do not know of the Sylvan, they will not know that you have said a false truth..." he took a shaky breath, "Victor, do you know why the fey, who live by the heart, ever speak the Sylvan Oath?"
Tidelan looked terrified now, "If you did live for, hum, ten-hundred of hundredyears and you did see many many hearts... What will you believe when you see a heart that you can not allow, yet that is as true as your own? Maybe, I will tell you more good with this: Angels and demons. They are not of the fey, yet they both have hearts. An angel does desire only 'good' things and a demon does desire only 'bad' things. They can not ever share a heart, yet both their hearts are true... To know that is a great pain, yes?"
Struggling to keep his emotions in check, Tidelan took another raggedy breath, clearing some of the physiological symptoms of distress, "Now, what of the hearts that make your own heart look to itself. I will not say more, because the words can harm the heart, but just know that there are truths that can make your heart change for ever."
Tidelan finished with, "To be powerful enough to betray your honor is very hard, but it can be. But, if you betray your honor; you DESTROY it. That many can be known. Even the Gods can not heal honor that has been DESTROYED."
Tidelan hangs his head, "Now, I ask how can you betray your heart? To do what you hate? No, because you will still feel the pain of those actions, and so you do not betray." continuing, the genasi said, "No. The only way to betray the heart is to DESTROY it. One with an evil heart still has a heart. One with a screaming chaos heart still has a heart. One with tenhundred hundredyears of hearts can not have so many hearts; and thus, like a cup of water, one is betrayed in truth. Yet, to betray any heart in truth is to betray them all, because children of gods and children of worlds the same, were not made to have more than their own heart."
"When you live through times that can not be said true, you get many hearts. Yet, they will not all be the same enough to not cause screaming chaos for you. But, that is still a heart. You only DESTROY your heart when you know longer can know what is in your heart... No, not that... When you know longer have truth in your heart, that is DESTRUCTION."
Tidelan stood up then, and began to leave quietly, with just the final words "Honor was first made for those who can not trust their heart. We use it not the same now, but the sylvan truth does not change"
On the place where they had set, Tidelan left Victor 100 Gold Pieces
