Re: [OOC] Out of character chat 2

Ballarat is a minor regional city (or a large town) in the goldfields of Victoria, we had a very wet mild summer down here because of the el nina. We're nestled in a spot that is inland near some mountains but we also still get the cold air blowing up past the coast from Antarctica. Outside of summer heatwaves Ballarat is pretty cold, though I doubt as cold as in Ontario!

Today was the second(?) day of autumn at reached a top of 15 degrees Celsius but was otherwise bright and sunny. I have to imagine Perth was quite a bit warmer today but probably still pleasant.

[OOC] Out of character chat 2

It always amazes me how vastly different our simultaneous experiences of the world can be.

Y'all's Thursday is winding down over in australia already as mine is only just about to begin... You're experiencing autumn, and I'm headed in to spring...

I'm looking forward to a nice 12 degrees C for my last day on this project I've got going before flying back home.

Once the world returns to normal, Ontario Canada is actually one of my project locales. Any advice for a first time visitor, Tidelan?

So....where are y'all from?

I'm living in sunny Perth!
Victor Iusticia:
Considerably less sunny Ballarat for me :)

BrisVegas!    Seems we got a healthy dose of Aussies in this game.

Northern Michigan, here (not to be confused with the upper peninsula, which is actually more northern).
Spring seems to be arriving a few weeks earlier here than normal, so a lot of the snow and ice is already gone.

I'm in Waxahachie, TX about half an hour south of Dallas. Plenty of people around here use Worcestershire sauce. I'm fine with it as a component of BBQ, but on it's own I think that stuff tastes terrible.

Now I'm picturing a Dragonborn with a curly straw, sipping it straight while grimacing in disgust.

Re: [OOC] Out of character chat 2

Rather accurate. I love soy sauce, and have literally taken sips from the bottle. My first encounter with the worce I expected a similar liking and was sorely disappointed.

I'm from Texas, we put hot sauce on everything (except steak, you get shot for that).

Haha, wow. I like soy sauce, but that just sounds like enough salt to give me a head ache lol

Though, I do actually enjoy eating raw lemons as though they were apples. Sour citrus is a good taste imho

Hm... I suppose it's good for you to keep in mind while driving or being chaperoned that you can turn right at red lights in Ontario. Funny thing is, you can't do the same thing in Quebec, so it's a tad confusing.

Besides that, I'd keep an eye on the weather and read up on how we deal with the cold. We don't really get a lot of tornadoes, hurricanes or any major disasters, but getting snowed in or slipping on road ice could be traumatic for an unprepared tourist :)

Safety-wise, that's about it. It's a pretty safe country, and you wont need a guidebook to get by with communication, since you already speak english. Though Canada is bilingual, you don't need to speak French at all, except maybe in Montreal (ive never been tbh).

While you're here, I recommend you try and get your hands on our few national foods:

 - Maple syrup (trust me, nothing beats the local stuff. It puts sweet ol' aunt jemima to shame when it comes straight from the local forest)

 - Poutine (I mean this is kind of obvious. Remember, the best poutine has real cheese curds, anything else is inferior lol)

 - Beaver tails (I've always wanted to try these, but haven't yet. Also, no, they are not actual beaver tails, it's just a nickname for a waffle desert)

Unfortunately, I don't know much about local attractions, but I'd assume your best bet would be Toronto, as that's basically where everything that matters in the country is (also traffic is terrible there)

A second sad note: If you were looking for gorgeous scenery, I'd actually recommend British Columbia. Ontario surely has nice places, but it's very urban and it's natural beauty also just doesn't stand up to BC, anyway.
