I find the inherent fragility of level 1 characters incredibly satisfying.  I don't know why.

Really helps keep a player grounded and humble, right?  So many higher-level battles basically turn into a string of math for damage output, but low-level play in 5e really has that gritty "no plot armor, you may die at any moment" feel to it.

I wasn't sure how to know what was hitting it, but everyone else seemed to (?) so I googled giant spider to see it's armor class. Tidelan still doesn't know any of it's abilities he hasn't personally seen, though.

Interestingly enough, this fight would be enough for us to level, if my math isn't stupid :)

Just so it is clear for anyone who is leveling, you are welcome to take the average Hp gain for your class instead of actually rolling, but if you do roll then you must keep it.

I believe only Adelheida, Xannan and Odilon have leveled so far. Patrol group 1 should level soon though.
