Re: OOC: Chat
Thank you for the kind words! It took quite a lot of money to set up, haha.
Nobody's signed up yet, but that's ok. I will point out that you can participate in the tournament, even if your currently on a job elsewhere. It's sort of like downtime, that way.
Also, since it's been a bit slow, I'm thinking once we get four PC combatants, I might ask the GM's to fill in the other half of the tourney with NPCs of some kind.
I would join the fun myself, but as Tidelan is organizing the tournament, it's probably a bit taboo for him to enter, haha.
Unfortunately, I can't promise the matches will be fair for lower-level characters nor for any NPCs that are built, 'cause the job posting says that the matches will be randomized, so the dice will be deciding whom fights whom, haha.
A bit more details on the randomization method below, since I couldn't put this anywhere but in an OOC thread:
- I will be assigning each combatant a number, based on the order they apply.
- Then, I'll roll 2d8, and record each number. Those two characters will fight. Characters
will be moving up on the listing, rather than moving down.
- Then, the combatant's numbers will shift to be in range of the new total.
- Then, I'll roll d6s, and continue with the same method.
- Then, I'll roll four sided dice, and then at last match the remaining two together.
For the semifinals, I will repeat the last step.
The finals will obviously not require any dice rolling.
keep in mind everyone, that if you are interested in signing up for the tournament, feel free to post in my house thread (not in the actual residence, ofc) and Tidelan will reply and sign you up within a day at most.
Cowards worry not! There's no penalty for losing, except you might need to take a long rest, and you will be down a couple gold pieces.
Once we get up and running, we will be running one fight at a time, so stay patient while waiting your turn and enjoy the show!
Also, I can't stress this enough for all our spellcasters: ALL FORMS OF MAGIC ARE ALLOWED. This isn't a roman gladiator arena, this is a high fantasy arena. Keep in mind, with RAW, you can't use nonlethal damage with spells IIRC, only weapon attacks. So, if you have fireball, make sure to save it for a barbarian who won't instantly die from it, and not a wee wizard who will be turned to literal ash.
Tidelan is not responsible for any duelists killing one another. He will be providing healing to prevent unconscious characters from making death saves.
Maybe the GMs will handwave that, and just let players choose to not kill the other fighters. That would be a much easier solution to any potential problems.
This ain't an Honor Duel, nobody is getting handicapped (yes im throwing some shade xD)
