[Quest] Counting Coup

Mindful to take great care, and stealth, Brohm sneaks out of the cave.  Keeping a mental note on what he learned, and his senses sharply alert.  Once free of the cave, he seems another secure campsite.  Done distance from the cave and the stones.  Careful to remain hidden.

[Quest] Counting Coup

After you're sure your camp is well hidden and well away from the cave, you settle into your nightly routine.
You get 350xp for avoiding the fight. Is there anything else you would like to do before bed?

[Quest] Counting Coup

Brohm secures his camp, carefully hiding it, and building a smokeless fire.  Then sets up alarm traps to alert him if anyone comes closer than 60 feet.  After which, he carefully draws the additions to his map, and note in his journal the factual details of what he encountered, and where.  Once done for the night, he checks the perimeter one last time before going to sleep in his tent.

[Quest] Counting Coup

As you drift off you find yourself in a deep dreamless sleep. After what seems like not very long you awaken of a peaceful rest to find it is already morning. Nothing had disturbed you in the night. As you come to you enjoy yet another sunrise this one however bringing with it a cool breeze, a bit more nippy than usual. Still though this was looking to be a good morning.

With none around to see, Brohm smiled at gorgeous sunrise.  Too few see such things.. He thought to himself, as the rising light glittered across the frozen ground like a thousand thousand scattering stars.  He breathes deep the cold air.  Yes.  I can smell it.  the snow's coming.  Whether it will get here before I'm done or not, I'll see.  Of course, If I'm caught of in it, so's the Keenbellow Expedition.. He thinks with a chuckle.  It'll be a good story, either way.. So thinking, he has a quick breakfast, and some exercise.  Then cleans up his camp, careful to conceal it as though it was never there.  Then searches the area around the camp stealthily, before continuing to his mapping progress.

[Quest] Counting Coup

Packing up your camp, you get on your way. The day goes on peacefully as you continue your journey. You do eventually come to a thicker area of the Rimewood, but you find nothing to note there. The sun reaches its height in the sky as you continue your second part of your journey for the day. As the sun inches down slowly and you get ready to look for a campsite you catch sight for something you hadn't yet seen in the Rimewood. It was a herd of deer like creatures, but much bigger and they seem to take no notice of you. You spot 5 of them in total.
You get 350xp.

[Quest] Counting Coup

Brohm remains concealed, observing them from a distance.  He was not hunting this trip.  No, his quarry was far more esoteric.  Eventually, after observing them for awhile, he sneaks off away from them, his senses alert to the forest around him.  He carefully seeks a sheltered, and concealed campsite.

How many hexes has Brohm mapped, and roughly where is he on the map?

You set up camp as you've grown very comfortable doing and get on with your nightly routine. This would be your last night in the wilderness unless you should choose to return to it once more after returning to town.

[Quest] Counting Coup

Brohm sets up his camp as usual, setting alarm traps 60' from the camp to alert him of any intruders.  He cook on a smokeless fire, doing everything possible to keep the camp hidden.  After dinner he works on the map, then does one last stealthy patrol of the camp perimeter.  After which, he goes to sleep in the tent.

[Quest] Counting Coup

As you look around for any traces of activity from the night you find nothing. No animal tacks or trails, or trails from anything else for that matter. You finish packing up and leave on your way now back to the Fierce Hearts village from where you had started this journey. You map as you travel taking in each of the sights and sounds of the wilderness. Would you miss it? Perhaps only time would tell. Going on with your day as you dwelled on this question you come across a band of 4 orcs armed and ready to do battle with anything it would seem. They take no notice of you.

[Quest] Counting Coup

From his concealed position a hundred feet away or so, Brohms' senses immediately come into sharp focus.  He carefully counts them.  Noting any markings they might have, their direction of travel, their equipment, and which of them seems to be in charge.  He is careful, however, to remain concealed.  The odds are not in his favor, and he knows it.  No sense dying a death from stupidity.

I'm glad we can't botch skill checks.  *L*

Once the orcs have move on so do you, but it isn't more than 50 feet that you run into more of them. 4 more to be exact and they are just as armed as the others dressed in similar armor.

Carefully Brohm moved away from them, out of their line of travel.  He is cautious, maintaining his hidden state.  He watches them carefully, his senses on full alert.  Aware of the possibility of others in the area around him.  He observes them, noting anything he can about them.  Till they pass, then, when it is clear, he stealthily proceeds forward.

While they are within range you cannot spot any defining features or marks upon them. As they leave the area from which you are in, you too move forward, still being careful as you head back towards civilization. As you map out the last bit of terrain on your journey you find  yourself soon back at the Fierce Hearts village.
You get 400xp for avoiding the encounters. You also get 9 downtime units for completing this journey. Please move to the Fierce Hearts Village thread.
