Do animals act and function the same in your world, as they do in ours?

To an extent. Why?

Because Brohm is a Ranger with beast as his Favored Enemy.  I happen to know a few things about animals myself.  Spiders travelling as a group is odd, to say the least.  There are many clues in animal behavior that could potentially point to something weird going on.  A thing that Brohm himself would have a high chance of picking up on.  And if there are differences in how your worlds animals act, vs. our worlds animals s, Brohm would know what's natural for them.

Ah ok. Yea in this world it's not that unusual to see. If something does seem unusual for a beast I'll be sure to let you know.

Ranger Features:
• Gain advantage on survival and Int checks concerning your chosen creature
  type (Beasts), and you know a language spoken by those creatures.

• You are particularly familiar with the Forest Environment and are adept at
  traveling and surviving in such regions.  When you make an Intelligence or
  Wisdom check related to your Favored terrain, you Proficiency Bonus is
  doubled if you are using a skill that you are proficient in.

While traveling for an hour or more in your Favored terrain, you gain the
following benefits:

Difficult Terrain doesn't slow your group's Travel.

Your group can't become lost except by magical means.

Even when you are engaged in another Activity While Traveling
(such as foraging, navigating, or tracking), you remain alert to danger.

If you are traveling alone, you can move stealthily at a normal pace.

When you Forage, you find twice as much food as you normally would.

While tracking other creatures, you also learn their exact number,
their sizes, and how long ago they passed through the area.
