[OOC] Encounter: Goblin Watchpost
Goblin F hurls his spear at Montana James, snarling [Language unknown:  Thusonshe was his sape ratni!].  The spear hits, but with so little force it barely nicks Montana.

OOC: the attack hits AC 18 for 1 damage.

Montana, you're up!

Special note: I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, and because of how the local public transit system "works", it takes me three hours to get there, and three more to get home.  Which means I won't be able to post much, if at all, before dinner time tomorrow.

[OOC] Encounter: Goblin Watchpost
OOC: You can only get five of the six Goblins with the cone; either F or E will be just outside of the AoE.  So, I figured you'd want to let F off the hook this round, as he's already acted.

Goblin A ... makes his save, taking 4[fire].

Goblin B ... fails his save, taking 9[fire] and falls to the ground, briefly thrashing and shrieking.  DOWN

Goblin C ... fails his save, taking 9[fire] and falls to the ground, briefly thrashing and shrieking.  DOWN

Goblin D ... fails his save, taking 9[fire] and falls to the ground, briefly thrashing and shrieking.  DOWN

Goblin E ... makes his save, taking 4[fire]

Goblin F ... suddenly wishes he brought some marshmallows.  And also, that he had brought them somewhere quite far from this room.

[OOC] Encounter: Goblin Watchpost
Goblin A turns and runs ... to the far corner, where he grabs one of the ill-set stone blocks and pushes.  The block recedes into the wall with a grinding noise, followed by a heavy *clunk*, whereupon a section of the wall, seven or eight feet wide and floor-to-ceiling, swings away from the room, splitting down the middle like a pair of double doors.

Ivellios follows behind the others and stops on the fallen curtain. He aims at the closest goblin, his allies presence distracting it plenty, and lets loose an arrow with a smirk on his face. As the arrow misses, he stares in shock for a second before recovering and saying: "Damn, just missed the one by that secret entrance. I hope he doesn't have allies back there."

Move to O5, shoot with shortbow at GF.

[OOC] Encounter: Goblin Watchpost
OOC: Yep, that misses, as the goblin turns just in time to see the arrow headed his way, and ducks below it.

The goblin who had been at the northern end of the table rushes to the keg, knocks it over, and pulls a leather bag, and runs through the now-open secret door.  He tosses the sack past a corner you can't quite see around, and yells out [Language unknown:  Cefo!  Haany!  Eiwite illthastarom mi!  Tiolo ourprever thint terterwer seeelo linom hi nifoce whipr!]

From around the corner the goblin ran to, a deep and gravelly voice answers, [Language unknown:  Arten nti thtimi.  Elant siad.  Pe houameint.]  And you hear something ... large ... begin moving towards the room.

TOP OF THE ROUND

Goblin F snatches a new spear from the barrel behind him, and screams [Language unknown:  HAT ANDEVESET MI WITAREING!] and stabs at Kenemon with it.  Blinded by his rage, he misses entirely.

01:31, Today: The Game Keeper, for the NPC Goblin F, rolled 4 using 1d20+1 with rolls of 3.  Attack!

[OOC] Encounter: Goblin Watchpost

From around the corner, a very, very large form comes striding - one leg casually knocking Goblin F aside.  Nine feet tall - eleven if it's posture weren't hunched and stooped - seven feet broad at the shoulders (and eight, at the gut), wearing a patchwork of hides, bits of chainmail, and bone, and in his left hand carrying a club formed of an uprooted tree, the large roots still knurled around at it's business end.  Seeing Kenemon, it smiles, showing dual rows of sharp, jagged teeth.  HAR HAR HAR ... Koll squish puny kobold!

Koll shifts to a two-handed grip and sweeps his club from his right to his left, hitting Kenemon with brutal power!  Kenemon is flung clear across the room, and crumples to the ground, his body bent at an unnatural angle and blood pooling on the ground beneath him,

18:31, Today: Koll rolled 26 using 1d20+6 with rolls of 20.  Attack!

18:32, Today: Koll rolled 26 using 4d8+4 with rolls of 4,8,8,2.  Critical damage.

[OOC] Encounter: Goblin Watchpost
"Shit! That ain't good," Ivellios exclaims. He quickly runs next to Montana, empties a bag of ball bearings and starts running back out. "That will hopefully slow it a bit," he says.

As it does not show on the map, I would like to remind that I moved to O5 last turn, which if I got the coordinate system right is two squares to the left and one square up from where I seem to be.

From there, I move first to K3(square north of Montana), use my action to empty a bag of ball bearings (covering squares I2, I3, J2 and J3), and then move to M4.

A creature moving across the area covered by ball bearings must succeed on a DC 10 Dexterity saving throw or fall prone. If it's intelligent enough, moving through the area at half speed means you don't need to make the save.

Goblin E, already well out of this fight, decides that he'd rather live than have a song made about his glorious death, and he does not return to the guard room.

With a shout of [Language unknown:  Isadri ckate hoofnc!  Llbewa herla thuughoul!], eight more goblins, these carrying scimitars of crude goblin-make and bearing shields, come rushing out of the passage to the west.

Unexpectedly, the first four turn north, and mob the ogre!  Some of their attacks strike home, bloodying the ogre and enraging him!  Why goblins cut Koll?  Koll not like!  Koll squish goblins, make jam for toast!

The other four advance, but are unable to engage either Koll, or Montana James ... yet!

Mando - "GM" is the first to arrive in melee range of you.

Ivellios - GL is only a pace behind GM, when he steps into your sights.

OOC: A clarification: Kenemon is absolutely, unmistakably dead.  his skull has been flattened, and both his back and neck are clearly broken.  There's no pulse, he's not breathing, and you think most of the insides of his head is currently smeared on the ogre's club.

Also, it's at least two and a half hours from here to the Keep.

Also, with his armor and other gear, I'm pretty sure Ken's at least a tad over 240#.

But we do know that he can be brought back to life if we get him to the Keep within 24 hours, like it says in the Cheating Death rule, right?. OOC: so, Mando reallized after the fact that he ran off into the darkness ... and asked me to figure out how to show light levels.  I've just been using MSPaint to hack the map apart and move the letter "tokens" about on the map, so I'm a little limited in what I can and can't do.

This is the simplest thing I came up with: lines, denoting the transition from Bright to Dim to Dark.  Montana James ("J" on the map) is the light source - I'm rather assuming he's keeping that bullseye lantern on or near his person.

These lines will be on the main map when I update it in a few minutes.

[OOC] Encounter: Goblin Watchpost
My apologies, I should have adjusted the coordinates for the now-larger map.  Or, better, I should have thought ahead and set up the coordinates to allow for this all too predictable increase in map area.

Oopsie.  :)

Below is a map as of the end of Ivellios' turn, now with the coordinate markings I should have included (and explained) sooner.  In essence, the upper leftmost square is [A,1].

At the end of Ivellios' turn, positions are as follows:

Dorbis (D): [H,8]
The boy (B): [H,7]
Mando (M): [T,11]
Montana James (J): [Y,11]
Ivellios (I): [Y,12]

Koll (OGRE): [Q-R,5-6]
Goblin I: [P,5]
Goblin K: [Q,7]
Goblin N: [R,7]

With a Dash, the furthest you could get would be [Q,9] or [Q,10].  The boy has enough movement you could place him in any of the squares in [P-Q,9-10].

Oh, and: the area in yellow-ish is filled with marbles; the rectangles east of there are a table (now burning brightly) and two benches, both (crudely) built to Goblin proportions.

[OOC] Encounter: Goblin Watchpost
"I'll make sure the way is clear," Ivellios says as he turns and starts moving back towards the entrance.

Move to... if the letters start back from the start after Z, to E10 or just in front of the entrance. Look in every direction to see if anyone's there, I still have my action left so I can attack if I see anyone.

[OOC] Encounter: Goblin Watchpost
"Okay kid, you heard him. Put those longer legs to work, and let's skedaddle." Dorbis pushes the kid in front of him and runs across the cavern.

Dorbis dashes to AA11 with the kid in front of him at AB11.

Can we break with the turns now? We're just getting Kenemon and running.
