Everly - a most understandable delay!  I wish everyone the best of health!

I shall be trying to weave a story here in the next couple of days in response to Bhskara's questions, and I want to make certain I do it justice.

Tryvv, you too can enter the Festival of Ink in the main thread to start seeking some answers.

Hopefully it won't be long before we end up stumbling upon each other. Literally or figuratively, as it were.

Just wanting to check in on everyone to see if everyone is ok. The concerns over COVID-19 are pretty severe, so hopefully everyone is well and taking care of themselves, no matter where we are in the world!

Sorry for the radio silence on my part.

I work for the Health Services Agency, so between that and grad school things have been... hectic.

Looking forward to getting back into this over the weekend, as I'll have plenty of time.

How are things on your end?

Doing all right. My company has been declared part of our nation's Critical Infrastructure, so we aren't shutting down until the zombie hoards come.  whee.

I am nonessential staff status atm so a bit worried about unemployment, but that might change depending on if my role becomes open to telehealth (therapeutic, even though I am not a therapist... different certifications). But mostly just hoping the world doesn't go too haywire and more of us survive this than not.

Indeedy do. I'm not doing anything glamorous - I work in heavy industry - but since the metal we process goes to transportation and defense, we were deemed too important to shut down. The machines can't run themselves, and even in the event of a shutdown we'd have to have people here on fire watch. The company has given us a fairly generous sick-leave-with-pay policy if anyone gets ill from the virus, so we have that financial safety net for a while. It's just going to depend on how long this goes on.  :(

By contrast, I work in Costco's Canadian call center supporting their eCommerce offerings. We've been, for whatever reason, deemed essential staff as well but haven't been really given much in the way of offerings should we have to self isolate. Generally told absences won't be held against us at this time.

The whole cycle is basically one giant ball of anxiety as a result. >.<

Oh yeah, it's, "Am I short of breath or just so worried about everything that I'm having an allergy flare-up/anxiety/panic attack/bout of depression?"  "Is my cough a COVID-19 cough, or is it just because the factory is full of dust?"  "Am I feeling feverish or is it because spring is here and temperatures are at the 'throw a dart at the thermometer' stage and I am never wearing the correct number of layers?"

What do you do, Tryvv?

I'm in school working on an MSW, definitely pursuing licensure so I can do therapy (among other things).

Alright, I'll be looking at the threads in less than an hour and getting to work writing.

I am a Community Support Worker, but have been working in and around those affected by CPS agencies for 13 years give or take, so I am pretty well versed in a lot having to do around that area of expertise and knowledge, and work closely with therapists in my agency.

sadly, since my job is supposed to be support in helping people with mental illness overcome the functional living barriers *in the community*, this has made it hard for me. When no one wants you to come to their home or other similar location, it is near impossible to do your job, unless they relax some restrictions on usage of telehealth.

No worries Everly, take care of you! As much as I am feeling bored to tears trying to cope with shelter in place, I would not ask anyone to feel pressured to post when everyone varies in how much they can do or cope with in this crisis. So I can just be patient. No worries, do what you can to stay healthy and be safe!

Eesh. Yeah, this is not doing anyone any good. I'm simultaneously working more and less (training new people, but then the company cut our hours because no one is making anything with the metal we're selling right now), so I'm jogging very frantically in place. I won't be able to post here from work anymore for several weeks to months, so hopefully I can muster more energy at home!

My hours are basically getting longer, I'm still expected to physically go into work despite my province being officially in a state of emergency and my employer, Costco, has only now started to look into work from home options for its office staff of which in one given my employment at one of their first party call centers... I am... In general less than impressed despite all the positive PR they're getting from the public perception of us staying open.

So definitely on the same wave length when it comes to all this.

Strange times, and no one can expect what it will amount to for anyone. It is scary, stressful, and unexpected, no matter who you are or what you do. So yeah, I expect that even though the seeming expectation is that online pbp games will have more availability, it isn't really true. In some cases it becomes harder!

Alive! Do not have the plague. Still working, but can't post from work anymore (they dumped four new trainees on our shift and I have to train some of them). Slight flare-up of depression from current worldwide shenanigans. Have to dollop out creative energies with a few less spoons in my jar.

We're not going anywhere so take the time you need to make sure you're in good shape and we'll be around to pop up out of the wood work like spiders and moths. :)

Serious, physical and mental health comes first.

The glorious thing about rpol is that you can forget about the game, and it's always there the next time someone posts.

Agreed on all points above. I am waiting on a post from Blue the cat, but other than that this system weirdly requires very little in the way of GM intervention. If necessary I can post another reply, but I am patient so do not feel pressured!
