I shall be trying to weave a story here in the next couple of days in response to Bhskara's questions, and I want to make certain I do it justice.

I am nonessential staff status atm so a bit worried about unemployment, but that might change depending on if my role becomes open to telehealth (therapeutic, even though I am not a therapist... different certifications). But mostly just hoping the world doesn't go too haywire and more of us survive this than not.

Indeedy do. I'm not doing anything glamorous - I work in heavy industry - but since the metal we process goes to transportation and defense, we were deemed too important to shut down. The machines can't run themselves, and even in the event of a shutdown we'd have to have people here on fire watch. The company has given us a fairly generous sick-leave-with-pay policy if anyone gets ill from the virus, so we have that financial safety net for a while. It's just going to depend on how long this goes on.  :(

By contrast, I work in Costco's Canadian call center supporting their eCommerce offerings. We've been, for whatever reason, deemed essential staff as well but haven't been really given much in the way of offerings should we have to self isolate. Generally told absences won't be held against us at this time.

The whole cycle is basically one giant ball of anxiety as a result. >.<

I am a Community Support Worker, but have been working in and around those affected by CPS agencies for 13 years give or take, so I am pretty well versed in a lot having to do around that area of expertise and knowledge, and work closely with therapists in my agency.

sadly, since my job is supposed to be support in helping people with mental illness overcome the functional living barriers *in the community*, this has made it hard for me. When no one wants you to come to their home or other similar location, it is near impossible to do your job, unless they relax some restrictions on usage of telehealth.

I am... In general less than impressed despite all the positive PR they're getting from the public perception of us staying open.

So definitely on the same wave length when it comes to all this.

Still alive. Work is offering a voluntary two-week layoff from 4/20 through 5/3, and I'm going to take it. I just want two weeks away from the petri dish of the plant. They keep trying to enforce social distancing, but it's absolutely impossible; our break rooms don't allow use to keep the minimum distance, and out on the floor if you're six feet away you can't hear the person next to you. They keep making nominal efforts to comply, but it's not at all practical for what we have to do to work.  Luckily (?) our customers are also mostly shut down, so our demand is low enough that several departments are being offered the temp layoff.  I just need to be out of the plant for a while.

This plan works for me. Not that I want to divide up the group, but offloading my texts, doing the investigation into the bits and bobs that I am trying to resolve for Bhaskara, and then getting back to the group afterward makes the most sense to speed things along. At least for now. with our group being as small as it is, we can afford some party separation. If we were a larger group I would say we should stick together to keep GM task management low.

I seem to have a notice for a private message, but when I looked I do no see any. Bug, or was there some message that did not in fact reach me?

I didn't send any private messages, Tryvv, so I'm going to chalk that up to a bug.

Also, everyone should have a Complete Record thread that I started for them that only they can see, in order to get all of their various neighborhood stuff and whatnot into a single place.  If anything looks out of order, or you need to change anything or add anything, lemme know.

Also, it looks like you can reach the Celestial Bazaar from every district but Fartown, The Hollows, and the Undersling, to it would seem you can go to a memory gate direct from Strangeglass, should that be your wish to get right to work!

Everly, I appreciate the welcome and I'm looking forward to joining all of you.

I ordered my Black Cube last week and it was finally delivered today.  Unfortunately, the Amazon reseller that I purchased it from had placed it in a cheap shipping container (not the original packaging from Monte Cook Games) and it must have gotten dropped along the way.  UPS, in its infinite wisdom, discarded the damaged exterior box and simply taped up the Black Cube itself for the remainder of the trip to my house.  Long story short, the Black Cube is trashed, there was evidently some water damage based on the stains on some of the items inside and the books have broken bindings, smashed covers, etc.  Needless to say, I was pretty unhappy this afternoon.  Serves me right for not ordering directly from Monte Cook in the first place.

I'm returning everything to the supplier and will be ordering the PDFs tomorrow so that I can get an RTJ up sometime this weekend.  I still plan to buy the physical product at some point...hoping that they don't sell out before that.

Alive and well. There were some protests and a curfew in my area for several days. The actual protests were passionate but peaceful; the curfew was because some idiots who weren't protesting at all decided to go loot stores en masse for giggles one night.

I have family in Minneapolis, and their house isn't far from where the riot zone was, but luckily they were several hours north at their cabin, teleworking, when everything went down.  They're still up there for the time being, and probably will be up there until things calm down a touch more.

OOC Discussion

Hello everyone. first and foremost, my deepest apologies for not replying/posting, etc., especially since this is a very delicate time with the pandemic. I am doing fun (fingers crossed) but my state moved forward with opening up certain parts of our economy for business (Our state, for the record, has been very good about paying attention to COVID-19 so our numbers had been low up until recently). This ended up causing a huge influx of business at work, much to my chagrin, and my stress levels have been off the chart trying to manage the busy after 2 months or more of stagnation, and on top of that anxiety over things.

This meant I have not had any chance to post to the games I am in, and I fear that while things are still in constant disarray I will not be able to keep up. Which is very annoying, as I was really enjoying the game for the brief time I was involved.

Unless things shift, I will have to step down, especially since I do not want to bog things down for everyone else. If needed, Tryvv can bow out with whatever NPC info is needed...he is a bit of a flighty sort anyway. And of course there is The Shadow, another avenue to have him bow out (And he is especially prone to it given his backstory).

I apologize again for the inconvenience on our awesome DM and the group, as well as any worry I may have caused. Please take care of yourselves everyone!

I'm trying to get a better feel for the character, and I'm liking strangely unobservant as one of their traits.  The multitude of voices compels them to action sometimes, and that leads to a certain amount of obliviousness.

Well, apparently in wishing you safety I cursed myself.

We had a heat wave, which led to a freak weather event called a Roll Cloud around 2:30am yesterday.  The Roll Cloud caused massive winds, knocked out the power and internet, and literally left us in the dark with no cell service when the heat lighting started a forest fire near by.  Woke up to smoke at 5:30am after a restless night of lighting and thunder.  Had to grab the bug out bag and the cat to drive into town just to get enough of a signal to call the non-emergency line and figure out if our place was going to burn down or not.

So yeah, relaxing weekend.

Bhaskara, I feel for you and I hope you and your cat are doing all right!

I now in a position do to an update on what happened in my neck of the woods.  Search for "Iowa derecho" if you want to see exactly what happened, but what basically was going on was that on Monday, August 10th a massive windstorm hit my area around 1:30pm (I was asleep due to my nocturnal schedule, but I woke up in a hurry).  It was a derecho, a straight-line windstorm with winds up to 100mph, though it was about 80mph in my area.  Is sounded like a freight train and looked like a hurricane, with branches and bits of roofing flying by our front windows.  We lost power shortly after the storm and didn't get it back until last evening on Friday the 15th.  We didn't get Internet back until Saturday the 16th, and spent most of Sunday and Monday replacing the food we'd lost from our fridge and ice chest and doing chores we couldn't do with the power out.  We were very lucky in that we (or my parents in the same area) didn't have any house damage and very minimal tree damage. Some folks weren't so lucky. There were trees across roads, trees on houses, and some cities had very massive property damage to a huge amount of homes and businesses (one city to the west of us has people camping in their front yards as they have no place else to stay). There are still roads shut with trees and light poles across them, and we've lost an immense amount of trees everywhere.  Every day for a week the air is alive with the sounds of generators, chainsaws, and woodchippers.  It's going to take weeks to get the branches and trees cleared that fell down during the storm, more to remove the trees that are damaged but still upright, and every third house is sporting a tarp to cover lost shingles, roof damage, or worse. We're one of the lucky ones and I am very grateful right now.

I will hopefully be able to update the game tonight or tomorrow.

40 acres blossomed into in 10,000 acres on Tuesday night, with 22,000 people displaced.

I am one of those, we got the call to evacuate at 12:30am on Wednesday morning.  Grabbed the wife the bug out bag, and the cat, packed up the car, and fled to a hotel. The fire line crossed my house yesterday, so I have no idea if it's still standing.

Leaving the hotel today to go live with some friends in a nearby city this afternoon.

Jaysis...2020 has been one hell of a year and not in a good way. The COVID-19 situation has had me running nonstop since it first became apparent it had spread from China and was in the UK. My normal work is paediatric trauma surgeon and A&E doctor but I have a Masters in Microbiology with a Virology specialty and did a Field Epidemiology Fellowship so I'm on the NHS's 'CALL FIRST!' list. And they did. And I haven't been still since as they gave me added duties but didn't pull me from my normal work so 12 hour days have been 14-16 for months.

I'm just glad to hear everyone is all right and I, for one, will be very glad when this very barmy year goes away!

Still here as well.

Evacuated last Thursday to a friend's house in a nearby city.  It's looking like the 40,000 acre fire stopped about 5ft. away from my front door.  That is not an exaggeration.  If the house is still standing, and we think it is, then the only reason for that is the fire lines that were bulldozed in.  We are utterly surrounded by fire damage on all sides, but the damage report shows my house as green for "undamaged."

It will likely be a few weeks before we get to actually go and look.

Oh yeah, and my Master's Program starts up again on Tuesday.

I might even get a post in this evening.

So originally I had gone in a very selfish direction with that Arc.

When I proposed it, I had said that Blue's friend was a Spider (not a Truespider), who had been possessed by a Demon member of the Abnormous.  I was hoping of using it as a way of getting further connected with Raajathamos, start spending Acumen on Character Arcs towards forming a bond with that entity, and eventually taking them as a Patron.

But considering all three of us are along for this ride, and we haven't been surging along our Character Arcs particularly fast, do others maybe want to add more of their own story to that mix?

Well, to be fair, if this game were at the table, we might be an hour or two into the session, and have already had a couple of player character changes!  ;)

But regarding Blue's Spider friend, we could build them together to give everyone an in on them.  We know currently that the friend is missing from Blue's own searches.

Bhaskara, you know they are a Spider that is possessed by a Demon of the Abnormous.

Everly or Jonah - one of you tell me the Spider's name and something distinctive about their appearance.  The other tell me a fact you know about this Demon that is possessing them.

I don’t feel like I e been neglected.  Honestly it is likely that I will start a new arc And likely finish it before I come anywhere near my current arcs completion.

The spiders name is the sound a web makes when it catches A thought of someone who is contemplating infinity.  That said, since that name doesn’t work for anyone other than spiders as they are uneducated, they go by the name Georg.  The Spider is fairly ordinary, not much smaller than the largest spider you’ve ever seen and not much larger than the smallest spider you have ever seen, but their web seems to be made of many copies of the same design each with its own spider on it that is strangely not much smaller than the Lagest spider you’ve ever seen and not much larger than the smallest spider you’ve ever seen.

Hey everyone,

I'm sure you noticed me slowing down my posting in the last few months and weeks. While I am enjoying DMing the game, I have had a flareup (or downturn, I suppose) of my depression due to work factors, home factors, and general world issue factors, which makes it hard for me to work up the wherewithal to post appropriately, or sometimes at all.  Which then can snowball into feeling bad because I haven't posted, but then being too depressed to post, which means I feel bad I haven't posted...

You get the drift.  ;)

I am seeking appropriate professional help to get better/make things more manageable (this isn't my first rodeo). I am going to take a short DMing break whist I get through the first stage of treatment, so I hope to resume posting in just over two weeks.

Everyone remember to take care of yourselves!

Just letting you know you've done nothing wrong by me.  I'm 2 months shy of finishing my Master's in Social Work, with more than a decade working in mental health. Glad to hear it, take your time!

Like I said, Amora and I play in a half dozen or so games together, have been for the better part of a decade. We will always be around when you post.
